MAC Unsung Heroes: Ample Pink Plushglass

August 27th, 2012 by Karen 29 Comments

Wait. Stop! Before we drive out to Modesto to roam the streets looking for Jeremy Renner’s family home — and hell yes, gurl! I totally agree that this is a perfectly sane idea — I need to check my purse.

Keys? Check.

Phone?

Phone…?

Okay, where’s my phone? It has to be here somewhere… I need it just in case the boss calls me.

Yes! There it is.

Now, where’s that tingly, creamy pink gloss I like to keep in my purse? MAC Plushglass in Ample Pink ($19.50)?

Hmm… I think I may have left it in my other bag. Hold up. Let me go check. I’ll be right back.

What’s that? Yes, I am aware that there are no fewer than 10 other glosses in my purse, but none of them are Ample Pink. And hello, we’re talking about Jeremy Renner here.

A semi-sheer pinkish mauve, Ample Pink is like a cross between a subdued MAC Spite and a tube of MAC Viva Glam V without the glitter, and I can’t believe we haven’t talked about it before.

I feel like I’m always pimping it out to friends who love my-lips-but-better looks, especially the ones who prefer cooler-toned pinks without a ton of shimmer.

I love the way it looks with smokey eyes… Not overpowering at all.

Here, let me swatch it on the back of your hand, and give it a good sniff because the scent is a little stronger than MAC’s Lipglasses.

I’m super picky about lipgloss fragrances, and this one doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, it and the faint vanilla flavor are making me hungry for a buttery waffle cone, yum!

The Plushglasses are MAC’s line of plumping glosses, so Ample Pink tingles a little bit, but it’s not bad. Nah, it’s not like those glosses that feel like you’re making out with a bee. I actually think it’s kinda cool and refreshing…like the lemonade J. Ren’s mom will bring out to us when we show up at her door, haha!

No, probably not. 🙂

But seriously, I wonder if she’ll show us his baby pictures. I hope so. Maybe he’ll even stop by for dinner and then do push-ups in front of us on the living room floor.

Okay, I totally sound like a grade A stalker right now…

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

It looks lovely on you, but it’s not my cup of tea. I’m not much of a pink girl.

      Hi Alex,

I used a few things. MAC Tarnished Eye Kohl, MAC Greensmoke eyeshadow, and MAC Club eyeshadow. 🙂

I love toned down lips with smoky eyes as well. I found that even better that any lip gloss is this lipstick – the texture is divine and makes my lips look so good and natural, without any sticky feeling from lip gloss http://bit.ly/OJivkD

The color of that Plushglass reminds me of a lipglass called Glamour for All (an HG for me). I think it came out w/ the All Ages/Races/Sexes collection. That lipglass is one of two that I have a back up of (the other is EvRev). 🙂

      Aww, Nina! XO

I remember that color. You know what I was thinking of the other day? Fabulous Felines. That was such a cat lady collection. I loved it.

I love love EvRev on its own, it just gives the right amount of interest to my lips without being overdone!

MAC needs to redo Fab Felines – that collection is still probably the one that I spent the most on!

Thanks, Nina! 🙂 That means a lot to hear you like it. I always love layering a wee bit of Subculture with it and then seeing it sparkle in the sun. You can’t help but smile when you see glitter, you know?

Oh, a Fabulous Felines…the shades from the Burmese Beauty color story are some of my faves of all time. A Fab Felines Redux would be AMAZING!

I forgot to say that ive tried it w/ Subculture and I like the effect – I feel like it contains the lipglass really well and extends the wear time.

Ooohh Burmese Beauty – one of my all time fave quads. Its gorgeous and the shadows in it are so different! Thanks for reminding me – ill pull it out tomorrow!

It’s very hard for me to concentrate on gloss when I’m picturing push-ups on the living room floor! hee hee!

This is a really pretty color and it looks great on you. Pinks are terrible on me. It’s some kind of odd curse. 🙂

Totally! We’d have to get him to mix the shakes by hand, for maximum forearm flexing. 🙂

I always marvel at how easily you carry paler lip colors! I’m around NC35-ish but I find brighter/bolder shades easier to carry than nudes! The fact that I have rather pale lips doesn’t help when it comes to colors like Ample Pink, would definitely need a brighter lip color underneath to pull this off!
