MAC Unsung Hero: Nymphette Lipglass

August 28th, 2009 by Karen 55 Comments

mac cosmetics nymphettereview

MAC Nymphette Lipglass and I met at a MAC counter some 10 years ago when a friendly MAC makeup artist introduced us.

You know how it went — SPARKS! We had great chemistry from the start, and the shimmery golden pink lipgloss went on to become one of my all-time MAC favorites. To this day it’s a staple in many of my looks with smokey eyes.

Because Nymphette packs a lot of pigment, I can use it without layers of lipstick and/or lipliner beneath.

For me, the result’s an easy, breezy, neutral lip look that stands the test of time. 🙂

Have you met Nymphette?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I can’t believe Nymphette and I have never met! It is so beautiful and this color is right up my alley! This baby is getting added to my “test drive during next trip to MAC” list.

It reminds me of a discontinued Clinique lipgloss that I used to love… “Sunshine”, I think was the name. I can’t find it anywhere, but I loved it in the summertime. Maybe I’ll have to check this out and see how it compares 🙂

    Hey Karen!
Yes, in fact I even tried to invite Nymphette home but I guess the chemistry between us was just not right so we decided to part ways at the MAC store!!! However I did get introduced to Viva Glam VI lip glass and lipstick. Now that’s the kind of sparks I like! 🙂 Enjoy your weekend!!!

I love Nymphette! I just got it this summer. I think it looks fab paired with Peachykeen blush. The funny thing is, years and years ago I went into MAC and asked the MUA about it, and she didn’t think it would look good on me. Finally I picked it up and loved it. It is one of my faves along with Love Nectar lustreglass. 🙂

How similar is this to Love Nectar? I know they are different formulas and have different applicators but color wise…? I bought Love Nectar for a friend recently and it looks pretty similar from this picture….

You know, the wonderful thing about Nymphette is it matches everybody’s skin tone, regardless how pale/dark you are. I’ve seen a lot of my friends to use this lip glass and their skin range from alabaster to mahogany. It’s still in my to-buy list and I’m going to get it one day 🙂

I LOVE nymphette on darker skins…as a matter of fact what made me buy it was I saw a friend wearing it while she was talking to me in the sunlight and I was so mesmerized…she was your exact skintone too! I ended up swapping mine away because it didn’t look the same on me at all!

Nymphette looks like one of those colours I would love to be able to wear but unfortunatly don’t suit my very pale skintone. It looks amazing on you, I’m not surprised it’s one of your favourites.

Nymphette is so pretty! This looks like Smashbox lipgloss in Candid, which I own. Pink with gold shimmer is gorge, and I agree with everybody that it looks better with darker skin tones.

Ooops — I said I paired it with Peachykeen blush — I meant Pinch O’ Peach blush 🙂 There was someone who asked what blush to pair with it . . .
I have dark brown hair/eyes/medium skin tone (cool tones) and it works great for me! If it turns out too gold for some people — it is really pretty if you fill in your lips with MAC Subculture lipliner and then put the Nymphette over — brings out a little more of the pink 🙂

I got Nympette a few months ago – at your urging, Karen! 🙂 I do love this gloss, particularly paired with NARS Orgasm blush. I try to keep everything else light because as others have said, it can get a bit iffy/orangey with my pale, freckled skin. But it looks fresh with just a bit of blush, a few coats of mascara and a crisp white t-shirt & jeans!

Nymphette was my very first MAC product. My cousin gave it to me when i turned 15 and it’s the one responsible for my MAC addiction…jajaja. It’s actually the only lip gloss i’ve bought twice since i use it so much that it doesn’t last me to long. I love that it looks good with practicly anything and upgrades anything that you are wearing. So yeah.. I LOVE IT!!
