MAC Unsung Hero: Powersurge Eye Kohl

November 25th, 2009 by Karen 41 Comments

mac powersurge eye kohl tip

If MAC ever discontinues Powersurge Eye Kohl ($15), I’ll hunt down every pencil at every MAC counter within a 30-mile radius, fo’ reals.

My love for this shimmery golden bronze eye pencil runs deeeeep. A MAC artist introduced me to it about two years ago, and ever since that fateful day this pencil has graced my waterline many a time.

On days when I don’t want the harshness of a black or brown liner, I like Powersurge. I think it adds just the right touch of emphasis to my lower waterline without leaving me looking too overdone.

Here she is in action with MAC Style Black…

Curious about Powersurge? Here are a few earlier posts:

  • MAC Starflash Goes Back to School: A Purple and Gold Eye
  • MAC Golden Olive Pigment Tutorial: A Green Eye for St. Patrick’s Day
  • Going Peach and Purple with MAC Brunette Blonde Redhead
  • MAC Cosmetics Blue and Green Face of the Day

I love it with gold, purple, bronze and green eyeshadows, but I think it also looks great on its own … or with curled lashes and tons of mascara, yay! 🙂

Have you met MAC Powersurge?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Teddy is a must! I know a lot of women who can’t live without it. I like it but it tends to smudge a LOT on me, so I mostly use it for layering.

Mmm, that looks like a colour to keep in one’s collection… I love subtle looks on those days I’m really exhausted but want to look a little pretty 😉 so that sounds good. Unfortunately I’ve been spending lots of money these days, but I might just wander over to a Mac counter sometime soon…

omg woman! why must you post things that make me wanna go out and get one myself? =o) i’ve never really been a mac fan until recently… their little xmas pigment pot collection got me going! have you tried the urban decay 24/7 oil slick color? it’s gray with silver sparkles… i tried looking for it but couldn’t find it as a single… only in a pack with other colors that i would never use=o(

Yah, I love that UD shade. If you like the sparkle action you might like UD’s Bourbon. It’s a rich brown with tiny gold flecks!

I have never seen this kohl pencil before. I like that it as an antiqued finished to it. I think it would make a lovely base too for gold toned eyeshadows. My favourite MAC kohl is Tarnish.

I will next time I get near a MAC store. I’m such a fiend. I don’t have any stores really closeby so when I do get close to one my money is burning holes in my pocket like nobodies business.

This looks like an eyeliner version of Woodwinked eye shadow. If they ever discontinued this you could always line your eyes with the eyeshadow!

Woodwinked in awesome. It goes fab with Powersurge, especially along the lower lash line.

Dang, girl, that is a gorgeous eye look! I’ll have to check out that color, although it reminds me of a warmer gold version of one of my lower lashline go-to’s, Benefit’s creaseless cream shadow in Skinny Jeans!

    Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

Interesting how Skinny Jeans shows up as gold on you! I get more of a khaki gray.

      Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Yeah, the catalog describes it as “pretty pewter”, but on me it’s a sort of golden-taupe color! At first I was disappointed, but I’ve learned to love it!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
