MAC Unsung Heroes: Sweet Satisfaction Pro Longwear Eyeshadow

December 10th, 2011 by Karen 18 Comments

If you’re looking for a MAC neutral to wear with your smokin’ hot red lips but want a break from old standbys like Ricepaper, Shroom and Brule, consider MAC’s relatively new Pro Longwear Eyeshadow in Sweet Satisfaction ($20).

Easy to blend and very forgiving when it comes to application, this pigmented neutral beige gets a lot of love from many beginners and busy gals alike. As with many neutrals in the beige family, it’s not too far from my natural skin tone, and so I don’t have to work too hard at blending out the edges. Often I’ll just pat it on with the closest eyeshadow brush and quickly smooth out the edges with a finger.

If you haven’t tried any of the MAC Pro Longwear Eyeshadows before, I think you’re in for a treat. They launched last fall with the MAC Styledriven collection and now live in the permanent line.

I think of them as softer, shinier, more pigmented versions of MAC’s Veluxe Pearl shadows, which I also think are great. Light on fallout and heavy on pigment, they command a $5 premium over MAC’s regular eyeshadows, but for that you also get more than twice as much product — 0.11 ounces for the $20 Pro Longwear pans, versus 0.05 ounces for the regular $15 ones.

Aside from some minor creasing, I’ve loved the shades I’ve tried so far, and I hope MAC expands the color selection soon.

Oh, I like to call Sweet Satisfaction my “power nap” color, because when I wear it my lids, I think I look all fresh and glowy, like I’ve just gotten up from a nice nap. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

When I saw the MAC Pro Longwear eyeshadows launch a few months back, I really liked Sweet Satisfaction and it looks great for everyday; however, I was hoping the color was going to be similar to MAC Warming Trend, but unfortunately, it’s not. Warming Trend is prettier and has a more gold undertone to it. I really wish MAC would bring back Warming Trend. =(

I’m thinking this shade would work well with Nubile paint pot. Or maybe even Rubenesque

I have 7 of the 16 ProLongwear eyeshadows. But I didn’t get this one. Glad it’s permanent, which I can get it whenever I want to, and whenever I get to a MAC store.

Karen I am *loving* that eyeshadow! And MAC has free shipping this weekend… uh oh.. :))
I’m trying to behave because yesterday I scooped up several of the new L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows, which I’ve been loving ever since they launched overseas earlier this year. I posted pics to my blog yesterday & today I’m going to get to test them out! Definitely adding Sweet Satisfaction to my list in the meantime.

I like how this shade looks really natural, but it has enough sheen to it to make your eyes look bright and pretty.

Oooooh pretty!!! Looks so glowy and luminous! I wonder if I can find a duplicate, cause 20 $ = 20 euros at Italian MAC counter, and that really is a lot!
However I like how the colour seems not to lean too much on the pink side of the spectrum, without being golden, either. Purrrfect neutral shade! 😀
