MAC Unsung Heroes: Impassioned Lipstick (and Watermelon)

July 1st, 2011 by Karen 39 Comments

mac impassioned lipstick

It’s official: I am in food lust with watermelon. That one from the other day? Completely gone. And it was ginormous, too! — like bigger than Tabs, and I ate it all by myself in, like, two days. On the one hand (and I’m thrilled about this) I’m not having any, um, fiber issues, but on the other hand, I’m a little afraid I might be overdoing it.

So sweet, so juicy!

Gotta swing by Trader Joe’s to get another one ASAP.

I’m obsessed… I’ve got watermelon on the brain. It’s even creeping into my makeup. Just the other day, I was looking at Impassioned ($14.50), one of my favorite MAC Lipsticks, when it hit me…

No, not the watermelon (silly). 🙂 It occurred to me that Impassioned is a perfect watermelon pink.

MAC describes it as a full-throttle fuchsia, but on me it’s more of an intense, warmish hot pink. I’ve been wearing it a lot lately because, ya know, the whole watermelon thing, and also because I love the way it lights up my face. I think it looks fantabulous with summery gold, teal and bronze eye looks.

Impassioned and the other MAC Amplified lipsticks are famous for long-lasting, rich color (all day wear). That’s a lot longer than it takes to devour a plate of watermelon slices.

Watermelon…

I actually love Impassioned so much that I gave it a nickname. I call it my, “Hello, friend!” lipstick, because whenever I wear it around fellow makeup junkies or to a beauty store like Sephora, at least one person always stops to ask me what I’m wearing on my lips.

It’s automatic: wear Impassioned, strike up a friendly conversation. 🙂

Very cool.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I LOVE your top!! Where is it from?

Impassioned looks great on you, I always swatch but never buy. Maybe I will have to give in to the temptation during my next haul…

I’m going to buy this. Right after I re-buy my Girl About Town lipstick. It melted in my car. I believe I cried. Do you have any tips on how to better care for your lipsticks? Leaving make up in my car is kind of…inevitable. Maybe I should invest in a cooler? I’m desperate. I was obsessed with that lipstick. I think I’m going to go cry in a corner now……..

That’s a really pretty color! No surprise people always comment on it. My little collection of MAC lipsticks is growing–just ordered Up the Amp and Rebel. I may have to add this to my wishlist now!

Yummeh. Unfortunately down here in Australia watermelons are very much not around 🙁 When summer finally rolls around though I will have to revive the tradition of taking a whole watermelon to the beach, cutting it in half and eating it with a spoon. Try it, it’s like a giant dessert that comes in a bowl!

I remember shopping for a hot pink lipstick at MAC Pro and I tried on Impassioned but even though I’m around NC30, it seemed too cool on me. Maybe it had something to do with the eye makeup and blush I was wearing that day. But Full Fuchsia was a similar colour and it is really the perfect hot pink on my skin.

Oh I love love love Mac’s impassioned. I had been holding off on getting MAC cosmetics for sooo long but after seeing all these youtube beauty gurus wear Mac’s impassioned I had to get it. It was so funny because I went to the Mac counter and was like picking all these lipsticks that I loved….oddly they had 5 tubes of impassioned and I picked them all up! So I seriously need this lip color. I love the scent and formulation. It’s really a great color

I just bought this today along with the eyeshadow Lucky Green. With my blue eyes, both colors (though not together, I”m not quite sure how well green eyeshadow and neon pink lips would look together- I’m not that brave!) seem to bring them out, and I love it! I’ve got to say, this pink lipstick has the potential of becoming my new favorite!
