5 Days of Chanel Rouge Coco: Have You Heard This Legende?

February 25th, 2010 by Karen 78 Comments

I like to think of myself as the girl next door (the one with the cat), but Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Legende 11 ($30) makes my inner diva want to storm the gates!

I guess that’s why I whipped out the fan today (LOL!), broke out the bling and worked the hair a la Mariah. 🙂

Legende’s cool, creamy pink outright aches for a red carpet to strut (sporting five-inch heels and a Karl Lagerfeld haute couture gown, fo’ sho’).

But she’s not averse to daylight affairs, either, like lunch dates with eye looks in blues and pinks.

True, I may never walk the red carpet at a gala event (still waiting for my e-vite, RYAN REYNOLDS!), but Legende can still be my go-to girl for lunch dates in the city. 🙂

What do ya think? Is Legende a legend in the making or a little too pink?

All I have to say is that I’m glad you don’t do this for every new color/release – I’d be so broke right now! I LOVE this color! I think this and Mademoiselle are the front runners. Although Perle is so perfect!

I see you love the pinks too. 🙂

Are you any closer to making a decision? Maybe choose a color you could wear every day… that way you can get your money’s worth out of the lipstick!

Haha, yeah, pinks are just so… straightforward!

I’m leaning towards Perle and Mademoiselle? I can’t lie – I loved your review for Perle, I’m relatively conservative in my appearance and I do love me some pearls! (And I thought of the guy in my Foreign Policy class and how I’d love a study date with him…)

I kind of hope I go to look at the colors and they all look horrible except for one! Unfortunately, its Chanel so they’re probably all universally flattering!

So true! Chanel is pretty good about making lip colors that flatter a lot of skin tones.

If you’re stuck between the two, I vote for Mademoiselle. It’s not shimmery, which I think makes it a tad bit more flexible… you can always mix in a little shimmer if you’re in the mood for that, too.

      Hi Shivotra,

I used the Chanel Sparkling Satins quad and MAC Trophy Pink Eyeshadow, which you can see in action here.

As for the foundation, that’s Laura Mercier’s Oil-Free Foundation with MAC Prep+Prime loose powder buffed in with the Eco Tools Bamboo Bronzer brush.

I wear the same foundation and the same color as you. But its too yellow on me and for you it looks perfect. Maybe its because of the loose powder? I should try it. I find LM’s foundation to be a little cakey too – i have had to thin it out to make it less obvious. but it looks so good on you – jealous!

Oh, I know what you mean. It can be thick for everyday wear, but it photographs really beautifully. I find that if I wear it out and about wearing just the bare minimum and spritzing my face with Fix+ takes down the cakey look.

You are so fierce, and I love this pink! I was looking over the Rouge Coco colors today and thinking that they were kinda falling short on the vibrant color end of things (after all, they’re replacing Rouge Hydrabase… what am I to do when my beloved Splendeur runs out?), so I’m glad to see that some of them go for the vivid gusto! 🙂

I caved on two today, Gladiola (the NM exclusive color, previously and erroneously referred to by moi as “Camellia”, oops!) and Mademoiselle (so classic)! I’m utterly smitten!

I just saw your reply dear. Sorry to be so late.

Yesterday was mostly chilling out, taking care of my voice. Then in the afternoon I had a singing class and I had to run some errands. In the evening it was the birthday party of the son of my mum’s best friend. It was so boring and my back ached so I went home pretty quickly.

Today I’m up so early it’s insane. Ah well. I have musical rehearsal in the morning and in the afternoon I’ll prepare a bit more for school (my last week hopefully!!) and watch some more Mad Men.
I’ll admit it: I caved and got the second season. Hahaha. I am weak but then again what’s more fun than playing with the different reddish lipsticks you’ve got while watching Joan Holloway do her thing?

I picked up Legende today! So happy!!!! This reads much more peachy pink on me and would be a great everyday not-quite-nude shade. I wanted Mademoiselle because it doesn’t have shimmer but it came across way too brown on me for an everyday nude. Maybe in the spring with a peachy eyeshadow. Legende will be far more versatile for me — I was wearing a smoky lilac eyeshadow and it looked great. I came home and put on a bronze shadow and it still looked great. I love how thin this feels on your lips — I hate lipsticks that feel like thick, heavy layers of goop on your lips. Not entirely sure I buy the hydrating angle though.
