MAC Cosmetics Face of the Day: Hot Pink and Silver

June 2nd, 2008 by Karen 59 Comments

Happy Monday! Talk about unexpected. I woke up this morning feeling extra spunky — and that was even before my first cup of coffee. It’s standard operating procedure for me to wake up on Mondays feeling grouchy, so to celebrate this minor miracle I decided to go big and bold with a full face inspired by the hot pink lip I wore a few days ago in this cosmopolitan-inspired lip look.

These lips stand out from a mile away, so I went with a soft pink and silver eye to add some semblance of balance to the look.

The first layer of eye makeup…

  1. MAC Girl Friendly Paint Pot on the browbone and crease
  2. MAC Shimma Paint on the lid and barely into the crease

The second layer of eye makeup…

  1. MAC Medallion eyeshadow on the browbone
  2. MAC Silverwear eyeshadow on the lid and barely into the crease
  3. MAC Silver Fog pigment on the lower half of the lid
  4. MAC Trophy Pink in the outer v and lightly into the outer crease
  5. MAC Blacktrack Fluidline on the upper lash line and upper waterline

To finish the look…

  • Chanel Inimitable mascara in 10 Noir

Brows

  • MAC Concrete eyeshadow

Dark circles (boo!)

  • MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer in NW 25
  • Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder #2

Face

  • Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation in Suntan Beige
  • Laura Mercier Translucent Powder
  • Stila Bronzing Powder in Shade 02

Cheeks

  • Redpoint Airbrush Effects Blushwhip in Vida

Lips

  • MAC Pink Treat Cremestick Liner
  • MAC Hollywood Nights lipstick
  • Chanel Glossimer in Pink Crystal

I think false lashes would make a fun addition to this look. Next time I go to a party or out with the girls, I’m going to try it with some long falsies. 🙂

What kind of morning are you having? I hope Monday treats you well.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Since you’re here, it’s probably safe to assume that you like MAC Cosmetics as much as I do. 🙂 Have you seen my MAC Gallery? It’s a visual way to search for MAC reviews and looks on Makeup and Beauty Blog.

    Hi Karen!
You look so pretty here, and BTW I love your site (I try to visit at least once a day)!

I’m rockin an NC35-40 complexion (depending on what season it is), but I don’t know why I get so freaked out about trying poppin’ lip colors. Thank you so much. I’m totally inspired!

Love this look on you, it’s gorgeous!
And the silver makes your eyes and the liner stand out beautifully.

My fotd is gold-blue (playing with mutiny again). I was just bored and took a break to do make-up. You should’ve seen the look on my roommate’s face when he came in after I did: unk? lol

    Hi Meesh,

I was freaked out by really bright lip colors for a long time, too. You’re not the only one! You could totally pull of a lip like this with your coloring (I go in between those shades, too).

And hey, if you put it on in the morning and don’t like it after an hour or so you can always blot it and just leave a stain. That’s pretty, too.

It’s great to meet you… hope you have a wonderful Monday!

    Hi Karen B.,

Thanks, my dear! 🙂 How’s your Monday been?

Gold-blue sounds pretty! Mutiny seems to be quite a versatile color for you. LOL, sometimes I don’t think boys understand makeup… I often walk into a room after playing with colors and El Hub makes the same face. 🙂

I’m having a great morning … now! I had a really rough weekend and forced myself to put on the bare minimum of makeup. Thankfully, I got a couple pieces of good news and am feeling somewhat relaxed and comforted. Hurrah!

Love the look, and love that you’re feelin’ good on a Monday.

Sensational! That perks me up just looking at it!

Glad you’re feeling good today! That’s always a great way to start the week!

Chuckle for the day: A while back I convinced Hubby to start exfoliating once a week (just using St. Ives apricot scrub). Yesterday he got back from a weekend camping in Yosemite and after his shower he said, “I know you’re going to run off and tell Karen, but it feel SO good to exfoliate after being in the woods for three days!” So natch, I had to tell you! 😀

    Hi Glosslizard,

OMG! Girl, you’ve done what many women have failed to do: you got your man to exfoliate. I can’t even get El Hub to consider moisturizing body wash.

I feel like we should give you a trophy or a medal. 🙂

Girl, you look like a Fafinette!

I went to MAC yesterday to check out the Neo Sci-Fi/Future Earth collections and Neo Sci-fi is just too warm for me 🙁 I got a solar bits which I love to bits hehe. It’s just stunning! The MUA applied on me and the stuff flew everywhere. At home I used a very light hand and it was much better than pigments. She also advised me to use a primer underneath and I told her I used paint pot. Guessed she was impressed. Also exchanged Prrr for VG V which is the greatest lipstick ever! It’s kinda similar to Clinique Tender Heart but I love the texture of MAC lipsticks more.

    Hi Gina,

Unfortunately I don’t know what my shades are in both of those brands. I’ve been really stuck on Laura Mercier ever since I found it last year and have rarely deviated except for ventures into Becca and Chanel foundations. If it helps, I can give you the colors I use for those brands, if you’d like. 🙂 Just let me know.

    Hi Karen B.,

I know how you feel… I’m still equally obsessed with Shroom, Soba, Soft Brown and Sable, and I’ve had ’em for years! Think of all the looks you’ll be able to do with Mutiny over the next few years, oh la la! So many possibilities lie ahead. 🙂

Oh! What a nice thing to say, girl. I’m totally flattered… I just need some striped arm warmers and some bright clothes to match. 🙂

Hmm, maybe you’ll have better luck with Cool Heat when it comes out! Have you worn you VGV yet? What did you pair it with?

Aww, thanks! I’d like to thank my Hubby, who made this award possible! LOL!

The disgusting thing is what a difference that one little thing makes in his skin! I have this amazingly complex skin regimen for upkeep (not that I’m complaining, mind you, I love doing it!) and he starts exfoliating once a week and sees vast improvement! Just another one of those guy things, I guess!
