5 Days of Chanel Rouge Coco: Take Me to 31 Rue Cambon

February 26th, 2010 by Karen 43 Comments

Paris seems light years away from my computer screen in California, but La Ville-Lumiere gets a oui bit closer with Chanel Rouge Coco in Cambon 31 ($30) on my lips.

Named after Coco’s Paris apartment at 31 Rue Cambon, this creamy pinkish red exudes the confident elegance of an impeccably cut Chanel tweed suit.

My closet may never meet a real suit crafted by Karl and Co., but Cambon makes me feel like the lights of Paris are right outside.

A spritz of my favorite Chanel perfume, Coco Mademoiselle ($95), and I slip into my favorite black dress (belted shift from H&M, $35)…

I can almost hear Coco whisper in my ear, “Oui, oui.”

“Mademoiselle,” I say, “it’s made from jersey.”

She raises an eyebrow.

“Just like the revolutionary clothes you made for women.”

I steal a glance in the mirror — almost, but not quite. It needs something more…

A few layered strands of costume pearls (necklace by H&M, $18)?

A cropped boxy tweed jacket (also H&M, $35)?

I turn to Coco. “Is good, Mademoiselle?”

“Oui,” she replies. “Is almost like Chanel.” 🙂

For more fun with Chanel Rouge Coco ($30 each; available now)…

Must purchase this beautiful lip colour.. My favourite of the five. You look stunning by the way! Wonder if I could pull off red though :/…

You can do it! Maybe start with it as a lip stain and then work up to full opacity… that way you can ease yourself into it. 🙂

Hmmm.. That’s true.. Would you say the colour/lipstick formula is worth the purchase?

It would be if you wore it often. Hmm… maybe start with a color that’s more of a neutral, like Mademoiselle or Perle. That way you know you could definitely get a lot of mileage out of it.

Ooh, so bright *.* I love it, but I’m in the same boat as Haley – not sure if I could pull it off. I’m really pale and reds tend to wash me out 🙁

Okay, this post totally inspired a trip to H&M for this weekend. You are rockin’ that dress, girl! I hope H&M was paying you for this post xD

Get it, girl! Coco would’ve demanded you be the spokesmodel. I have a question…with these lipsticks, what are your thoughts on liner? I’m wearing Mademoiselle with bare lips (well, except for my UD Lip Primer I intend to try out today) but was curious on if you thought it would be good to pair a Chanel lip liner with it. The SA recommended Rose Tawny. Would this change the look up too much?

LOL, this is too funny! My ex got me Coco’s Mademoiselle for my bday last year by accident (I’d been wanting another perfume instead), so I didn’t like the scent at first, but it seems to work well with my body chemistry, so after a few hrs of wearing it, I would like it. …but at the same time, the smell reminds me of my ex, so hopefully I’ll get over that. :0/

Buuuut….i did score the last tube of Mademoiselle at my Nordstrom counter…c’est vrai…it was meant to be! I’ll need to save up for another tube…I’ll check this one out next time I’m ready. This looks like it can be a very chic statement color for me!

I can’t decide…Cambon and Legende or Cambon and Mademoiselle…Any suggestions? I hope to get both eventually, but I can only choose one for now. I’m NW15 for reference.
