5 Days of Chanel Rouge Coco: There’s Something About Perle

February 24th, 2010 by Karen 84 Comments

Momma always said, “You can’t go wrong with pearls.” Okay, well, maybe she didn’t say that, but I totally think she should’ve because I loves me some pearls. 🙂

Classic, timeless, and they go with practically everything — kinda like Chanel’s new Rouge Coco lipstick ($30) in Perle 02.

She’s not as outgoing as her sister, La Pausa, but Perle’s soft glow still earns her lots of looks.

A shimmery, pinkish beige — conservative, with a heaping tablespoon of stylish fun — Perle loves study dates at the library.

Her favorite outfit? A tank top and skinny jeans, with a tweed jacket, peep-toe pumps and (of course) pearls. 🙂

If you like classically understated lip colors with a dash of panache, consider Perle on your trip to Chanel.

Here’s to hoping I can resist its charms!

The more I can resist, the sooner I’ll be able to buy myself my much needed laptop replacement (and I want a 13 inch MBP). That Philosophy line . . . I might not be able to resist. The powder and the brush especially. *le sigh* Life is so hard when there are so many pretty things! 🙂

I loooove them both, but I love Mademoiselle just a wee bit more.

It really depends on the look you’re going for, though. Do you think you’d wear a creamy or a shimmery color more often? I vote for the finish you’d get the most mileage out of, as these are kinda pricey.

Your Chanel posts have singlehandedly turned me into an overly anxious, overwhelmingly excited, crazy nutbag who is counting down the mere HOURS until I can dash from work to the nearest Chanel counter. At first I thought Mademoiselle was “the one” for me, but with my light hair, green eyes, and MUFE 120 skin…I think this might be the one!

I just got back from the Chanel counter with Perle and Mademoiselle (thanks to your awesome pics), and Organdi Rose and Ruban Rose. They are all so incredibly light and comfortable to wear and they last! I’m on hour four with the Ruban Rose and it still has a good color presence. Chanel struck gold with this line.

I’ve really been enjoying the Rouge Coco posts. Your outfits are just great, your make-up is superb, and your humorous approach is a lot of fun. Thanks!

I bought Perle after seeing it on you. I need it in my life …

On a more personal note, I just wanted to say thanks. As another thirty-something, it’s really so wonderful to see someone my age (which isn’t really that old, right? 🙂 who is beautiful, immensely talented and downright hysterical! You are the hotness, girlie — and it is much appreciated!

      Hi Maegan,

Glad that you are Perle are now homegirls! 🙂 I hope you love the color as much as I do.

As for the hair… these are leftover curls from the day before (I used a large barreled-curling iron to curl the front pieces for the “La Pausa” FOTD). I didn’t wash my hair that night, and in the morning I had it tied back with a ponytail holder thing-a-ma-jig. When I took my hair down the curls loosened up the quite a bit, which is the wavy effect you see in the pics above. I had a couple of wayward pieces, so I fired up the old curling iron, curled in the ends and then smoothed the side-swept bangs down with some hairspray.

First I got myself Byznatine, which I did not wear at all, a wine-red. Then I gazed at Perlé because I just get a good protion of gold, very decent, and it is very suitable for work and with the darker eyes I use to wear.
But I still think the other colours are rather boring… waiting for the new shades!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
