Face of the Day: Chanel Oasis Quad and Leopard Lipstick

May 27th, 2008 by Karen 47 Comments

Today felt like a bold lip kinda day for me, so I decided to take Chanel Leopard Hydrabase Lipstick out for a spin. I didn’t want Leopard to be lonely, so I paired her with her new best friend, the Chanel Oasis Quad (from this year’s summer collection)!

This coral and brown eye riffs on the blue and green eye I did a few weeks ago. I used the same basic eyeshadow layout this time but switched out the blue and green shadows for neutral tones to balance with the coral-red lipstick.

Two layers of eye makeup bring this look together. Don’t worry, girl! It’s still easy. 🙂

The first layer of eye makeup…

  1. MAC Bare Canvas Paint on the brow bone
  2. MAC Perky Paint Pot on inner lid
  3. MAC Quite Natural Paint Pot on the outer lid

The second layer of eye makeup…

  1. MAC Shroom eyeshadow on the brow bone
  2. Chanel Oasis Quad in the coral shade on the inner half of the lid (on top of Perky)
  3. Chanel Oasis Quad in the brown shade on the outer half of the lid
  4. MAC Showstopper eyeshadow in the outer corner
  5. Lancome Noir Le Stylo Waterproof eyeliner on the upper and lower waterlines
  6. Chanel Oasis Quad in the khaki underneath the lower lashes

The corresponding shades from the Chanel Oasis Quad:

To complete the look…

Lashes

  • MAC Zoomblack Zoomlash mascara

Brows

  • MAC Concrete eyeshadow

Dark circles

  • MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer in NW 25
  • Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder #2

Face

  • Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation in Suntan Beige on the face
  • Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder

Cheeks

  • Chanel Enchanteress Joues Contraste Powder Blush
  • Stila Shade 02 Sun SPF 15 Bronzing Powder

Lips

  • Chanel Leopard Rouge Hydrabase Lipstick

The next time I wear this look I’m going to pair it with Chanel Gazelle Glossimer, a shimmery coral gloss. I think that’ll be purty!

How about you, girlfriend? What kind of lip look are you sporting today?

Do you ever get songs stuck in your head? So far today I’ve listened to Jojo’s Not That Kinda Girl like a billion times. Lovin’ it!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I was rocking the tenderheart gloss earlier, but it’s gone now and I haven’t reapplied. 🙂 I paired it with cream and brown estee lauder shadows from one of the palettes I have.

You know what I did this weekend that was really pretty… it’s kinda funny. BTW Boyf was with me when I went to Nordies the other night…he browsed elsewhere when I was hitting Clinique, but did look on as I stopped to check out Neo SciFi in person. He was all about the orange lipstick for some reason…LOL. I was actually surprised when in conversation he asked me what the difference was between a pigment and an eyeshadow (as if he really cares). 🙂 Anyway yesterday we were going to dinner and I had just showered…so he was playing around with stuff and then I couldn’t find copper penny the new quick eyes I bought. Anyway I decided to use starlit pink instead and had a very light wash on when he located copper penny…so i put a second coat of copper penny from the lash line to the crease and blended a little…added a little highlight, liner and mascara and it was really pretty!! 🙂

Oh and I’m rocking the TTYL on my toes… I love it!!! I caught myself looking at my toes though while I was walking earlier… LOL not good.

Wow! love those eyeshadows!!! (I’m drooling over coral #2-it looks like the eyeshadow version of candy glow lipgloss!!!) the lips are great too–you look so glam.

I just did peachy-pink (more peachy) lips today-tarte’s summer fling (tinted spf lip balm) with lorac’s mocktail gloss in guava tiki on top. my whole face was kinda monochromatic peachy pink-a wash of laura mercier in caramel (which is actually a matte light peach) with a little shimmery peach in the crease (one of the older mac mineralize duos). Becca tuberose lip and cheek cream on cheeks with some orgasm on top. that’s it!

    Hi Megan,

Oh pretty! Tenderheart would look pretty with neutrals (heck, it looks pretty with everything); maybe I’ll wear that tomorrow.

I remember swatching both Copper Penny and Starlit Pink side-by-side at Macy’s and thinking that those two would make sweet, sweet, makeup love! Crap, girl… now I’m going to have to go and get them both.

Bah, I have to re-do my toes tonight. I was wearing one of the 2B: HOT reds and now it is time to switch it up!

    Hi Amanda,

Yeah, I *lurve* that coral. If you’re gonna get that quad you better snag it asap; it’s a summer limited edition release.

Your look sounds super pretty today! Did you get that Mineralize Duo from the Antiquitease release? The way you described it reminds me of Engaging.

    Hi Holly,

Thanks, girl! I wasn’t wow-ed by it at first (dunno why, but the colors seem to be a bit more sheer than my other quads), but after playing with it and doing some layering I really like it.

Enchanteress is all I really need to look alive! I don’t have In Love (yet, ha ha ha), but I’ll have to check it out next time I go to the counter.

    Hi Karen,
Yeah the colours dont look that great in the quad but the texture is fantastic and the colours are much bolder on the skin.

You must try In Love next time you are at the Chanel counter, dont be scared of how orange it looks in the pan and try some on! Every time I show it to a customer they are scared to try it but once i put it on them they usually really like it!

    Hi Holly,

I’ve been really liking orange lately (every scary orange… eep!) so I think I might like it! My wallet’s kinda hoping I don’t fall in love, though, LOL.

You know what I really want? More of the single shadow pans. I want the Khaki one next.

Are you ready for your tests? Hang in there!

    Hi Marisol,

I think you still can. It was released for summer a just a few months ago and should still be around. You should visit it next time you to to the Chanel counter. 😉

I have a ton of different foundations, so I’m always switching around depending on my mood and coverage needs. Right now I’m really liking Laura Mercier and Becca!

It is very nice, Karen. I especially like what you did for the eyes. I have the Chanel Oasis Quad and have been experimenting with it for a while. I have been trying to use all four colours. I love the colours but it seems a little difficult to use them all together nicely on myself. I always get either an incomplete or too intense for office look. BTW I don’t have the MAC shadows you use here haha…

I’m wearing a nude pink lipcolour and Astral gloss today.

    Hi Miss QQ,

Thanks! You know, I had a hard time with it too at first. Seriously! If all else fails you can always just do a single slice of color on the lid and slightly into the crease, and then use a neutral on the brow bone!

My friend, who works at the Chanel counter, did this eye on me with the quad when it first came out. I tried it a few times, but I’ve yet to master his blending skills!

This looks so nice! This quad looks a bit scary to me in person, but you pulled off a great look with it. I guess when I spend that much moolah on a quad, I want to have 4 colors that I can wear at the same time and I just didn’t feel it with this one.

I am going to be a Chanel addict… I just know it! I’ve added a few more pieces this week:
    Teint Innocence foundation
    Diamond Rose Aqualumiere Gloss
    Freeze Aqualumiere Gloss
    Joues Contraste Blush in Narcisse

    Shhh… don’t tell my husband 🙂

Don’t you love the Bare Canvas and Perky combo? Ever since I bought the first one, my Painterly paint pot has become very under-utilized. Bare Canvas is da bomb! (do they still say that? hehe)

Girl, I got my Shu blush yesterday, it’s a brown P73 I think. As you said, it’s very pigmented and I can double it up as an eyeshadow too. I got it during a promotion with a free mini curler and that cutie is so small 🙂 Shu curler is legendary and this mini baby really grabs the lashes in my corners very well. Now I think they need to have a promotion for a full-size curler too because I want one!

    Hi Dao,

LOL, yah, I think they do. What’s funny to me is when I hear my parents say it. It’s hilarious when my mom says, “Oh, that’s da bomb!” She actually went through a phase when I was a teenager where she’d try to use slang words me and friends would use and I had to sit her down and tell her that it was mortifying. LOLOL…

Isn’t that blush like BUTTAH? I don’t have the mini but I want it! I can’t live without my regular sized Shu curler. For years I didn’t understand the hype, but now I totally do.

I got the liquid. I really like it… it gives me just enough coverage and has a beautiful finish. My best bud from college was here this weekend for a visit and tole me she was admiring my skin. I knew right then I needed to use up the rest of my samples and rush to Macy’s for my very own jar.

I’ve become so in love with Chanel this past week (yes, I fall in love very quickly), and I asked the Chanel lady if they were hiring and to keep my name, just in case they need some extra help. 🙂

You like Becca? I really like that brand but it is so darn hard to find around here. I am going to SF this weekend and maybe check out the Sephora on Union and see if they carry that brand so I can get matched to my foundation. I had forgotten all about this brand. Their finishing powder is the bomb.

    I hadn’t planned anything, but I went for a pretty neutral-like make-up.

    Bare study pp on lid/crease
Stila barefoot contessa in crease (more in outer crease than inner)
Ricepaper on brow and for touch-up lid
    taupe liner
    mascara
    Peaches blush (of course ;))

    Hi Marisol,

I love Becca! Unfortch the SF Sephora no longer carries it. Try Neimans. The counter is small and they don’t always have the entire line, but they do seem to have most of the basics. The only thing with Neimans is that you have to pay with cash or a Neiman’s credit card (pooh), so be prepared. 🙂 I haven’t tried the finishing powder yet (I’m so stuck on the Laura Mercier Loose Powder it ain’t even funny), but will put that on my to try list.
