Chanel Summer 2008 Color Collection Now Available at Nordstrom!

March 18th, 2008 by Karen 65 Comments

Pink, coral, khaki, bronze — Chanel’s summer 2008 color collection has arrived at Nordstrom stores nationwide, so yesterday I hustled my booty on down to my fave Nordstrom Chanel counter to take a look.

Behold!

tabz-chanel-2008-1-1.jpg

A few swatches, ooh la la!

Jesus (pronounced hey-zoos), my Chanel counter homie, worked a little magic on me with this quick eye look using the Oasis Quad, Khaki Soft Touch Eyeshadow, Vert Bronze Waterproof Eyeliner and Emeraude Waterproof Mascara.

The collection evokes sophisticated safari, with the kinds of colors you’d wear with a crisp, khaki dress, gold jewelry, snake skin strappy sandles and, of course, bronzed skin. Speaking of bronze, the collection includes a plethora of bronzers — five powder and one cream — along with an assortment of shadows, polishes, liners and lipsticks.

FACE
Soleil Tan de Chanel Moisturizing Bronzing Powder ($48) – A powder bronzer compact in five colors: Desert Coral, Terre Epice, Terre Ambre, Desert Bronze and Sable D’Or
Bronze Universel de Chanel Sun Illuminator ($45) – A shimmery liquid bronzer
Limited-Edition Collection Essentielle de Chanel ($85) – A multi-use makeup palette for eyes, lips and cheeks

EYES
Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow ($27.50) – Single pan eyeshadows in four colors: Tigre (bronze), Nomade (pink rose), Khaki (khaki green) and Safari (stone brown)
Lumières Facettes Eyeshadow Oasis Quad ($55) – A four color eyeshadow quad called Oasis contains khaki, bronze, coral and pink shimmer shadows
Ombre D’Eau Fluid Eyeshadow in Atoll ($30) – A golden sand colored liquid shadow golden sand
Stylo Yeaux Waterproof Eyeliner ($26.50) – A mechanical pencil colored liner in two colors, Vert Bronze (green bronze) and Espresso (dark brown)
Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Emaraude ($27.50) – A jade green waterproof mascara

LIPS
Glossimer Lip Gloss ($26) – Gazelle, a new release, is a very hot praline pink with sparkle; I predict this one will sell out very quickly, so grab a tube or two or five (I’m buying two, LOL). The other two colors, Pinup (frosted golden peach) and Seashell (soft, shimmery pink), are also members of the Glossimer collection.
Rouge Hydrabase Cream Lipstick ($26) – Available in Leopard (golden coral) and Rose Flamingo (bright pink)
Rouge Allure Satin Lip Color ($30) – Available in in Naive (pink nude) and Curious (nude brown)
Aqualumiere Sheer Lipshine ($26) – Available in Zanzibar (soft peach) and Mauritius (bronzed coral)

NAILS
Le Vernis — Nail Colors ($19) – Available in Antelope (frosted golden brown) and Flamingo (bright bubblegum pink)

Get thee to Nordstrom ASAP to check ’em out!

Whatcha think? Are you feelin’ these?

Karen

    Hi Temi,

You’re welcome! I really liked the eyeshadow singles in Khaki and Safari, and of course, the very hot Gazelle Glossimer. Do you think you’re going to pick anything up?

Oh, they’re sooooo beautiful! I’m sick in bed today, but I have visions of hauling myself, zombielike, to the Chanel counter!! Gazelle looks to die for!

My only complaint is the yearly proliferation of products to go with tan skin, tough on us girls who can’t tan and can’t look natural in a fake one! Oh well, live it up, you bronze goddesses! 🙂

    Hi Glosslizard,

Awww, I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad. I hope that you’re feeling a little better…

Trust me, you’ll have love at first sight with Gazelle! 🙂

LOL, I’m totally on the opposite side of the scale. I love summer/bronzy colors because they’re such a no-brainer for me. I think, though, that this collection still has stuff for even the lighter skinned ladies, like the pinks and the corals.

Take care of yourself. I’m sending get well vibes your way…

I haven’t jumped on the Chanel train yet. I visit the counter frequently to ooh and ahh and all the pretties, but I am yet to try anything on in fear that I will fall in love and thus lose my house to foreclosure.

But these are all so pretty – especially the pink lipsticks!

    Hi Tuprnut,

Oy, oy, oy, I don’t want to feed the fire, but you gotta try Gazelle. Just once! And swatch the Khaki single shadow. That’s it! It’ll give you just a little taste to tide you over but you won’t get addicted.

I was really tempted to pick up a few things but can’t because of the weekend’s LM haul. I gotta start rolling pennies for a new Chanel haul (LOL).

Are those two different Khakis? One looks lighter. And I really like what he did with your eyes. Dyou think you could do a mini tutorial and sort of run through what he put where? That’d be awesome sauce.

Yes, awesome sauce is the new phrase. Muahahaha…

And guess what? I got into med school! 😀 😀 😀 *proceeds to dig through website for super quick super lazy super easy 2 minute looks for bleary early morning classes with a cadaver*

OMG! Congrats! That’s such a huge accomplishment and I’m so happy for you!

Oh, and for your super lazy days, the magic words are blush and Shu Uemura lash curler. 🙂

Hmm, I don’t exactly remember what Jesus put what where on that eye. We gabbed the entire time so I wasn’t paying that much attention on shadow placement. If I see him on Thursday I’ll ask him! I do know fo’ sho’ that he used both the green from the quad and the eyeshadow single. They both look totally different, and I like the single shadow more.

Yeah, picking up Gazelle is almost a certainty!

It’s only fair, really, summer collections have the gorgeous golds and bronzes, spring has the pinks and lilacs, fall usually has something for everyone and winter has, ummmmmm, other stuff! 😉

It’s funny that I’ve been around the block some couple of times but never had anything Chanel. I’ve got makeup from Lancome mostly as gifts from family members and bought stuff from Estee Lauder/ Clinique/ MAC. Maybe my grandma used to wear Chanel no.5 and it stuck to me as a brand old people wear?

Oh, about Bare Study: a lot of people use it, esp. people with light complexion. I swatched it before but bought Painterly instead since it totally matches my skin. I think Bare Study, Painterly, and Rubensque are the top 3 paint pots that MAC has. So do you collect paint pots too?

    Hi Dao,

I didn’t pay much attention to Chanel when I first started getting into makeup; it’s a relatively new obsession for me, LOL. Check out the Glossimers and the shadows next time you’re in the cosmetics department. OH, and No. 5 is a very mature scent to my nose, too. I’m saving that one for when I’m a lil’ old lady sporting a Chanel Tweed Suit and a some white gloves (seriously, that’s my dream).

Yeah, girl, I loves me some Paint Pots! I have a ton of ’em! 🙂 Do you use a brush or your fingers to apply?

    Hi Ethereal Prey,

When I save enough pennies to buy it I’ll put up a lip swatch! I have to wait for my next paycheck because I spent all my makeup allowance on the Laura haul from this weekend.

Surprisingly, I wasn’t as moved as I thought I would be with the quad. I didn’t like the shadows applied dry, however when applied with a wet brush they really popped.

Girl, your eyes are hot! I never quite understood why my mom spent ridiculous amounts of money on Chanel.. until I got up in her makeup stash. When I went to visit her, I spent the whole afternoon playing with her loot! *sigh* Chanel will have to wait until I finish college (2 and a half semesters left!!). For now, I’ll just drool over the swatches!

The quad is pretty if you use water to wet your brush to intensify the shadows – otherwise the color payoff is nothing in comparison to the singles! I am going to get a few of the singles — khaki and tigre!

Ok, so I am on another witch hunt. Can’t find the Chanel Naive or the Curious. But I did find and old friend today. Claudia showed up in the main office. We worked together almost 20 years ago. I even went to her wedding. Her daughter is in the 9th grade here now. I can take special care of her here and now.
This is how I pack my make- up for travel honestly>
I take ONE eyeliner, The best mascasa MAC Lipstick “O”. It covers all the bases. One of my multi-colored eyeshadows with an eyeshadow base and a black in it. ONE blush. And One face base. EYE brow pencil, eyelash curler. Eyemake-eye- remover (dermalogica special cleansing gel- it removes make-up in one swipe) I just put some in an airline safe container.) I put shampoo & conditioner in the same containers. And all in a ziplock bag. Works very well! Even on class trips.

      Hi Michele,

That’s great that you found your old friend. What a nice way to start a Friday!

Regarding the lipsticks, thing I’ve done in the past is go to Nordstrom and have them see if it’s available at other stores — they can either ship it to you or you can swing by and pick it up if it’s close. I hope you find it!
