What’s an unsung makeup hero? For me, it’s an oftentimes underrated makeup morsel, a permanent collection product that scoots under the radar screen of many makeup lovers but regularly rocks my world. The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorites.
For some people, hairy spiders, public speaking, or accidentally farting loudly in tiny windowless rooms during important work meetings are the stuff of their worst nightmares.
My nightmare scenario? Life without ALL. THE. FOUNDATIONS.
Yes, I know, life will (probably) go on if we didn’t have hella options for glowing skin, but — and I ask mean this in all sincerity — what would be the point?? Where’s the fun in that? 🙂
My latest “Is she or isn’t she wearing makeup?” love is Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter Customizable Complexion Booster, and when I wear it I feel like I’m in a living, breathing, real-life version of Instagram, because sh*t blurs EVERYTHING. Seriously, WHAT PORES?
“Discover a brand new REVOLUTIONARY category in face makeup with the Hollywood Flawless Filter. This MUST-HAVE customisable complexion booster has the versatility of a face primer, with the mega-watt glow of a highlighter and the perfecting properties of your favourite digital filter. Choose your level of GLOW with filter makeup to illuminate your skin just where you want it for a radiant complexion.”
The barely-there coverage is also — as the kids say — on point, and the glistening, opalescent glow looks literally LIT.
OK, I’ll stop…
It’s a dramatically dewy finish — even dewier than MAC Face & Body or L’Oreal True Match Lumi — and some may call it borderline sweaty.
But I like it.
Sometimes I will matte it down a tad with a light dusting of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural or MAC Mineralize Loose, and you can also matte it down even more by mixing it with your favorite matte liquid foundation or matte tinted moisturizer (’cause it’s good at that, too).
I’ve been wearing this on hot days, and it’s perfect. Light enough so I don’t feel like I’m wearing anything at all, and it stays put!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I haven’t read your blog in ages. I think you look great and I don’t think it’s the foundation. Congratulations on being a mother. I am very happy for you. This is the first post I read(after my hiatus from the blog) so Ta, I’m off to binge read your other posts.

I’m super curious about this! Glad to see your positive review.

It looks good on you but way too shiny for me! I have oily skin so I don’t like finishes with shimmer. I’m curious about the brand though, her lipsticks always get great reviews.

i had to stop and think about what my make up night mare is, and I have to say, I can live without foundation but BROW PRODUCTS? I would die! lol.
you see I have brows with a mind of their own, and straight up bald spots lol.
I cannot go a single day without brow pencil, brow gel, brow pomade, or some type of brow product.
i only wear foundation on special occasions 🙂
Karen says
LOL, Yelena! I think we might be onto something. Looks like I have the subject for the next Q&A post!

The SA applied this to the top of my cheek area (I do not have cheek bones, sigh) the day I tried Super Salma lipstick. Didn’t hate it, but I guess I wasn’t really sold on it either. I wasn’t sure I’d ever wear it all over (too glowy) and as a spot thing it’s just one more step I don’t want to have to deal with. I guess I’m just lazy when it comes to makeup.

How do you think Flawless Filter might compare to It Cosmetics CC cream Illumination if you’ve tried this?
I did get Sunset Lover and with the matching liner looks nice on me (dark hair, light-medium in summer). Wearing alone I look like I ate a messy orange sherbert lol
Karen says
Hi Diana,
I prefer Flawless Filter. I’ve tried the It CC Illumination cream and was not a fan — the sparkles were too big for me, and I just felt like it looked oily on my face. The FF is more of a pearl, like someone added a whole lotta MAC Strobe Cream to a pore diffusing tinted moisturizer. Hope that helps. If you need more info hit me up! Happy to help. 🙂

Thanks as always pretty lady ! Yes, a pearlescent glow, who doesn’t want that?! I tried her Magic foundation ( nice, touch too heavy for me) and while I do like It CC (i have sensitive skin) dare I say I’m bored with it? I have a beautylish gift card, gonna check this out. Will let you know. Have a great weekend Karen xo

Almost everything looks borderline sweaty on me after a while, but I like all the pore blurring aspect! 🙂
Karen says
Me too. I like that I can skip the pore-blurring primer with this (one less thing to do). It also works as a primer itself underneath other foundations, which I think is awesome!
