Lip Look: Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Bamboo Pink

April 18th, 2008 by Karen 24 Comments

One day about a week ago I set out to find Clinique’s new Long Last Glosswear SPF in Bamboo Pink. On my mission, I trekked to three different Clinique counters in downtown San Francisco (in three-inch heels), but it was nowhere to be found. “I’m sorry, dear,” the sales associates said. “It’s sold out.”

Never one to give up easily, I finally got my hands on Clinique’s little beast a few days ago (yay!). It didn’t take long at all to see why it has been so hard to keep in stock — it’s *gorgeous!*

Clinique has a winner on its hands. Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Bamboo Pink is a cool-toned pink with silver shimmer, and it’s a perfect, wearable shade for days when you just want a lil’ somethin-somethin on your lips but aren’t in the mood to spend too much time on your look.

For the picture above, I paired it with Bamboo Pink Long Last Shine Lipstick.

I suspect the color is why the product was so hard for me to find at Clinique counters in my area because the original Bamboo Pink lipstick was a huge hit. Clinique says it’s one of their top three best-selling shades of all time.

Bamboo Pink makes a great introduction to the Clinique brand. The lipstick has reached cult status among makeup junkies. I have a friend who bought 40 tubes!

Here’s a lip swatch with the lipstick version in all its cultish Bamboo Pink glory!

Bamboo Pink Glosswear’s cool pink is close to my natural lip color, which means I can be lazy (YES!) and forgo using a liner. Consequently, it applies in seconds. I think it still looks pretty all by itself.

Clinique Bamboo Pink Glosswear all by its purty lonesome self

Bamboo Pink moisturizes like Clinique’s other Glosswear SPF 15 shades and has good staying power, too. I just might have to adopt a few more of these precious tubes in the near future!

Check out Bamboo Pink Glosswear at your nearby Clinique counter, or purchase it from the store online.

AHHHH yeeeeaaah! I’m so glad it’s Friday, ladies. 🙂

Any plans for this weekend?

Help me out. I’m going out to dinner and I’m trying to decide what I should do for eye makeup. I’m torn between these Dior and Chanel palettes.

I guess things could be worse, LOL!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hey – I went to the other Clinique counter to find Bamboo Pink. Gosh darnit – no luck. A SA took my name and number and will call me when it gets in. But, I don’t wanna wait 🙁

It looks gorgeeous on you – can’t wait to get my hands on it.

    Hi Tuprnut,

I’m thinking Chanel too! Coco never lets me down.

BAH! I was so hoping you’d have it already! I really want to know what you think of it. I hope that shipment comes in soon… maybe there will be other pretty pinks/nudes in the bunch that you’ll like, too. Let me know if you peep anything of interest when it finally gets there.

Happy Friday! Anything exciting going on for tonight?

Both of those palettes are fab, you really can’t go wrong!

Bamboo Pink gloss is definitely going on my list of Clinique to check out! I bet it makes a super-pretty FOTD with Sunlit Palm!

It does! I wore that a few days ago to work. It’s a very fresh and easy combo. I am *very* impressed by Clinique’s summer collection. It’s one of the best I’ve seen from them in long time!

Bamboo Pink would look really pretty on you, methinks!

Ohh that Bamboo Pink is really gorgeous. I’m very very fair, but I think it could work on me, too!

    My vote is for Dior!

    Hi Karen!

Ooo… I can’t wait and I’ll be sure to let you know what I think!

I picked up some ice cream tonight, so I think my hubby and I are going to sit on the couch, watch and movie and eat til we’re sick. Well, probably not. I got Mint Oreo (my absolute favorite) and it’s 1/2 the fat and 1/3 the calories of regular ice cream. So, that means I can eat 2-3 times as much, right?

Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing the pics!

    Hi BridgetSoup,

Bamboo pink will totally work for the light-skinned lovlies! It really is one of those amazing universal colors…

Thanks for your vote! I just might end up using a lil’ bit of both! Got any fun plans for tonight?

    Hi Tuprnut,

Girl, did you read my mind? I just got back from the grocery store about an hour ago and I picked up two pints of Haagen Daaz frozen yogurt (in vanilla). My rationale for two pints was this: the Dryer’s Slow Churned was buy one get one free, and those containers are HUGE. And I couldn’t just buy just one if I knew I could get a second one COMPLETELY FREE! So I figured if I bought two pints of Haagen Daz then at least I would be eating less than I would if I bought the two buckets of Dryer’s Slow Churned. I dunno, for some reason while I was standing in the aisle this made total and complete sense to me.

El Hub loves mint ice cream too! That Oreo flavor would make him swoon. I gotta be in the mood for it though (I am a more Dulce de Leche kinda girl). So random, but how do you feel about peppermint ice cream? Now that I can get behind!

Enjoy your evening with your sweetie tonight! 🙂

    Hey Karen!!

That color looks gorgeous! I’m going out with my gal pal tomorrow to get a mani-pedi. Afterwards, we’ll be scouring the makeup counters-so you know what I’ll be looking for. I totally need a break from job searching and interviews (though sparse). My recent interview was for a industrial biotech company. Turns out one of the divisions is cosmetics-possible anti-wrinkle cream in the works maybe?

It looks so pretty on you!!! I have a strange over-abundance of Bamboo Pink lipstick, mostly because it is often a freebie in their gift with purchase things. I always thought it looked a little brown and boring on me, but then I am pathetically pale.

The gloss looks so beautiful though! Maybe I owe Bamboo Pink another try.

    Hi PeeChee,

Thanks! I hope you had fun at your mani-pedi today with your homegirl! Hmmm, I wonder what you are gonna get at MAC? 😉 I just picked up the Mineralize Foundation Loose last week.

    Hi Mariah,

LOL, yah, I have the same exact issue with Raspberry Glace (no joke, I’ve got five tubes lying around here). I hope you try the gloss! It’s really pretty and I think it would look fab on pale skin!

The new Clinique glosses haven’t landed in Finland just yet, but as soon as they do I *must* check out Bamboo Pink! It’s divine and looks gorgeous on you!

Hi Karen! Love the site. The Long Last Glosswear is my favorite Clinique item to date. I had to go check these out once I saw this entry. So far I have Knockout Nude, Bonfire, Fireberry, and Stellar Plum. Haven’t worn all of them yet, but I love the fact that my lips are soft and smooth, even after the gloss wears off. Might end up getting a few more in the next week or so (Look what you’ve done! Haha! Just kidding.).

    Hi Aleks!

How are you, my friend? Are you having a good week?

Yes, Bamboo Pink rules! It’s very easy to wear and shimmery. Great for summer!

    Hi Lehea,

Aren’t these so addictive? I hope you are lovin’ the Fireberry!

I am thinking I need a plum shade next Stellar Plum is next on my list. What do you think you might get next week?

My good friend J-Money, who is infamous for dry lips, loves these too. You weren’t the only one who got hooked! 😉

Fireberry is awesome! Might get on the bandwagon and snatch up Bamboo Pink if I can find it, and also Tenderheart. I’ve never been so into lip gloss until now. AHHH!

    Hi Lehea,

Oh yes, Tenderheart is so pretty! I’ve always kind of had a lipgloss fetish, but it’s hard to find ones with great staying power that also moisturize. I am glad these work for you, hooray!

Ahh so I know this thread is old, but I ever since I read it I’ve had Bamboo Pink on my mind everytime I go shopping!

I drove to the mall closest to my house and I grabbed the lipgloss and the lipstick today, but it wasn’t easy =P I started at Sephora, got sent to Macy’s and then sent to Nordstrom, but had no luck 🙁 Like you, once I have my mind set on getting something I don’t quit til I get it. I drove to the next closest mall and they had it at the Nordstrom. Yay! Of course I makeup-nerded out and put them both on right when I got into my car and I’m in love! Thanks Karen!

I love reading your blog, but I think I may go into debt getting all the awesome stuff you post up here!

    JC!

I totally admire your makeup stamina. You a makeup beast after my own heart. BTW, I’ve totally put on new makeup stuff in the car before. The last time it happened was when I picked up Candy Glow Aqualumiere gloss from Chanel. 🙂

Are you going to rock Bamboo Pink tomorrow? I hope so!
