OH, what I wouldn’t give to be able to fit into my acid wash Guess overalls from seventh grade. I’d wear them to the MAC counter on March 3 (with one strap up and one down, of course) to welcome the limited edition MAC Jeanius Collection. 🙂
To any and all denim angels listening, please take pity on my 35-year-old bum. It longs to fit into a pair of size 7 juniors pants.
SIDENOTE: J. Brand 811s are my fall-back plan (petite shorties, you gotta give this cut a try).
Do you recall Chanel Jeans de Chanel?
I’m pretty stoked about MAC’s 16-piece denim-themed collection for eyes, lips, cheeks and nails, even if we’ve seen similar themes like it before.
I still cry myself to sleep at night for missing 2003’s Chanel Jeans de Chanel.
Bobbi Brown Denim & Roses
More recently, there was also last fall’s Bobbi Brown Denim & Roses Collection…
The MAC Riveting Collection
Shoot, even MAC has kindasorta tried jeans on before with last year’s Riveting Collection.
Well, it’s not directly tied to denim, but blue jeans DO have rivets.
Okay, so maybe that’s a stretch…
Even before makeup companies were jumping on the blue jean bandwagon, other companies were doing denim, like Versace with their Blue Jeans Cologne from back in the day ($29.99 at Target).
Even Merle Haggard got in on the action. Remember Make-Up and Faded Blue Jeans?
Perfect song to listen to while we check out the official PR photos and info for the MAC Jeanius Collection…

How do you feel about MAC Jeanius? Do you like what you see, or do you think the theme’s been worn too many times before?

Vijaya says
That picture of Tabs is SOOOOO adorable!
Karen says
He wears his denim well. 😉
Molly says
Kinda meh on most, but those nail colors? Ohhhh goodness. My pocket already feels lighter.
Karen says
LOL, Molly!
Tiffany says
overdyed is the only thing calling my name… I wonder if it’s too similar to dollymix?
Karen says
Nah, not really. It’s darker and has more magenta in it… LOL, I kind of love that we’re both obsessed with Dollymix.
Tiffany says
awesome, thanks for the info! it’s so hard to tell anything with the mac promo pics, ya know?
ALSO, I tried subculture yesterday with ample pink plushglass and it was AMAZING. you should try this if you have that gloss. I think it would look great with your skintone!
Karen says
OOOH GURL. I think I might have that color somewhere in my stash. I have to go digging. Hopefully I can find it, because for some reason several of my MAC lip colors have gone MIA. I honestly think Tabs has been gathering and hiding the tubes somewhere. He gets obsessed with certain things. A while ago it was socks…
Nina says
i though i wanted the 2 blushes … but one seems to be too light for me and the other reminds me of my highland honey.
iono — i think my wallet will love me next week.
Karen says
It looks kinda Highland Honey-ish in the promo picture, but in real life it’s more pinky brown (kinda looks more like MAC Mocha).
Nina says
ah i dont have mocha …. thanks for letting me know! ill have to see these collection in person! 🙂
Karen says
You’re welcome. It’s got a lot of cool-toned colors, so if that’s your thing you just might love it!
amy says
Pink Cult and Frayed to Order are the only items that I am intrigued about. Maybe Stovepipe Black too.
Karen says
Stovepipe Black is cool! I like that one and Motorhead.
dani@callitbeauty says
the blushes are SO gorgeous!
Karen says
Yay, Dani! I’m glad you like them. 🙂
Denise says
I like over dyed blush, but it looks like a couple of blushes I own so will probably skip buying this one. That Tabs is so cute , his pictures always make me smile!
Karen says
I’ll pass on the compliment to Tabs. 🙂 Have a great Friday!
kana says
*squeeeeeeel* acid washed and docile, Very prtty colors! 🙂 the eyeshadows are too cute, i prob wouldn’t dare to use it to keep its nice denim look.
Karen says
I hear ya! They’re too cute to resist for long though.
Nika says
Thanks for this, Karen! I’m thinking of getting the Acid Washed Lipstick or at least one of the eyeshadows. They’re super cute!
Karen says
You’re welcome, Nika!
mandy says
I only have eyes for Stovepipe Black eyeshadow and motorhead isn’t too bad either!
Karen says
I like those shades too. 🙂
Britany B. says
So I was at work and I was searching your blog for the new Cover Girl Lip Perfection post (I was gonna buy some) because I wanted to see the swatches, but I can’t find the post to save my life! Where’d it go?!
Karen says
Hi Britany,
Hmm… I don’t think I reviewed that product.
Erin says
I like the polishes and maybe two or three of the eyeshadows!!
Karen says
Which shadows are you thinking about picking up, Erin?
Tracy says
Meh, I think I’m gonna pass on this one. It all looks like stuff I’ve seen before from MAC or already have. Wow-that’s probably a first for me in a few years!
Karen says
The great thing about MAC is that even if you aren’t crazy about a collection they always have something new lined up for the future.
Elisa says
Love your blog (this is my first post)! There was a Jeans de Chanel on *bay that ended just today, I was so tempted, but figured I probably shouldn’t use makeup that old (and $50 is a lot just to have another collectible stashed in my drawers). I love Chanel palettes, how long do you think they are good for? I usually don’t use palettes if they’re more than a year old or so, mainly because I find new ones to buy! I still love the Tokyo happening palette (as rediculously sparkly as it is), I’d love to find one of the new Asian exclusive glow powders that look a little more subtle!
Kaitlyn says
I think the little rivets in the eyeshadows are too cute, but I’m not otherwise in love with those colors. I do like the nail lacquers though, and will probably end up with both of them lol.
Karen says
Cool. 🙂 I like the colors too, but haven’t always had the best luck with MAC Nail Polishes.
Rita says
Pass. Sooo not my colours. The only thing I could check out is the Pink Cult Blush, but we are going to get at least four collections next week – WW, cremeblends, supreme sheens, VG – so this collection will be the last in the line (if it’s coming, I’m not sure).
Karen says
Which collection are you looking forward to the most, Rita?
kali says
OMG I’m sad I missed the Chanel collection too.. It came out when I was 13 and after seeing it in a magazine, I became obsessed! But of course at that age, I only had enough cash to go buy makeup at Long’s (aka CVS!)
Karen says
LONG’S!!! I remember when the one near my house (before it was CVS) still sold Hawaiian Sun drinks in a can. Ah, memories.
gio says
I’m not really interested in my collection but I’m kicking myself for missing the Chanel Jeans de Chanel collection. That was gorgeous! And so is Tabs. 🙂
Karen says
Me too! I still lust after that quad.
Advah says
J Brand 911? Noted.
Karen says
Apparently the exhaustion/lack of sleep is messing with my brain — I meant to write 811, but wrote 911. Here’s a link to the jeans. They’re AWESOME!
J Brand 811 Jeans
Advah says
Thank you! And I wouldn’t mind those Loubs heels either! 😛
(PS: fun fact, the 1214 Aidan in Nimes JBrand jeans are apparently named after my hometown!)
Karen says
You and me both, girlfriend. How tall are you? I’m a whopping 5’1, but in my mind I’m 5’6, LOL!
Advah says
4’11 hah! That did force me to become feistier than if I’d been 5’6! (or so I like to think..)
Karen says
Do you wear heels often? The only time you’ll find me in flats is when I’m wearing flip flops or running shoes. 🙂
Advah says
I mainly wear flats actually, apart from one pair of summer wedges. I walk everywhere (inc. 30 mins to go to work) so flat boots or Converse make things move faster!
I’d love to wear heels more often (usually leave them in my bag), but I can’t find shoes that are comfortable enough to walk in. Any particular brand you’d recommend? (PS: I’ll quickly complain that Nine West shoes are nice and padded, but painfully narrow for my feet)
(PS2: I’m still lusting after your Kate Spade shoes. They’re just gorgeous.)
Karen says
For comfort, Aerosoles heels are really great. They’ve gotten surprisingly hip in the last few years. I got this pair of yellow heels from them a few years ago and to this day they’re my “comfort” heels:

Kim says
I love the shadow designs (the rivets are adorable), but I’m not crazy for any of the colors. That said, the polishes, especially Biker Blue, look awesome. I don’t remember hearing good things about MAC polishes, though. Did you say you found them to be a bit hard to apply and not so chip-resistant?
Karen says
Hi Kim,
Yeah, I haven’t always had the best of luck with them. I find that the finish isn’t always as shiny as I’d like. Of course that can always be fixed with a good top coat, but still. If I’m in a hurry I want to have the option to just polish and go, ya know?
P.S. TGIF!
Kim says
Yes, I know exactly what you mean – you know I’m always in a hurry. But I did make time for High Beam today. I’m feeling quite radiant! 🙂 Happy Friday to you, too! 🙂
Karen says
Sweet! You know a little glow always puts a spring in the step. 🙂
Got big plans for the weekend? I have to do taxes, clean and work out. Fun, I know!
M. Gellhorn says
I love the look of the eyeshadows in this collection, especially Motorhead! I wish the design wasn’t an overspray, though.
Have you tried Jean Queen, Lipstick Queen’s take on denim-friendly lip color that came out last year? I picked up Jean Queen lipstick, which is a super-flattering sheer pink, and I find myself reaching for it quite often (even when I’m not wearing jeans).
Karen says
Hi M. Gellhorn,
I haven’t. What’s the wear time like? Is it moisturizing?
M. Gellhorn says
Hi, Karen!
I have perpetually chapped lips, and I love the texture of Jean Queen — soothing and moisturizing, without the heavy feel that some other hydrating lipsticks have. When I wear it, I usually only need to touch up the color after lunch and dinner, so I’d say the wear time is at least 4 hours for me, if not more.
The other Lipstick Queen product I wear often is Medieval, a sheer red lip tint that’s really pretty and very moisturizing.
As a longtime fan of Poppy King, the woman behind the Lipstick Queen line, I also have to recommend her book “Lessons of a Lipstick Queen”. A great read for both cosmetics junkies and anyone who owns (or dreams of owning) a business. My husband, who is a business professor, even uses it as a text in his entrepreneurship classes!
Alka says
Acid Washed looks nice. Otherwise not too keen on all the silver pearl…too cool-toned for me.
karo says
Thank you Karen!
I love this look! Lipsticks Acid Washed & Pretty Please are really really pretty!
Meghan says
Love the lipsticks and glosses!!! <3
Karen says
So pretty!
AnieJ says
I really want to see how pigmented the eyeshadows are, and whether or not the rivet color goes all the way through, but mostly I like the more neutral pink lipstick, lipglass, and blush. Those I will probably own by March 4th.
Karen says
The rivets are an overspray. For swatches check out MAC Jeanius Collection: Swatches and Product Photos.
HanaBerlin says
I’m really over MAC and all of their collections. = [
