MAC Jeanius: The Names That Could Have Been

January 11th, 2011 by Karen 49 Comments

mac jenius collection for spring 2011

MAC wasn’t the first to don denim for a makeup collection, but they are the first to take the idea this far.

I’m still kicking myself for missing the Jeans de Chanel quad from Coco’s spring 2007 collection, but it looks like I’ll get another chance to exorcise my blue and gray denim demons on March 3, when the new MAC Jeanius Collection saunters onto MAC counters and into MAC stores.

The 16-piece limited edition collection showcases both new and repromoted makeup for eyes, lips and nails, and I’m totally down with idea of a collection filled with blue, pink, purple, white, gray and white, especially one with pans that look like the ones at the top (how cute are those buttons?).

But the more I think about it, the more I wish MAC would have taken the idea even further. Take the product names, for instance. Painted On and Acid Washed are great, but why stop there? Why not go all the way, right? Picture this: a MAC Lipstick in Pajama Jeans. 🙂

While I was standing in line at the post office yesterday, I got to thinking about all of the other jean-themed products MAC could have included in the collection. I don’t know, maybe it was the scent of freshly licked envelopes or the air of desperation in the room (seriously, that line was hella long), but I jotted some down in a list…

MAC Jeanius: The Names That Could Have Been

  • Booty Pop
  • Way Too Tight
  • Apple Bottom
  • Ankle Zipper
  • My Favorite Pair
  • Double Cuff
  • One Strap Up, One Strap Down (A homage to ’90s denim overalls!)
  • Blue Jean Baby Queen
  • Broken In
  • Muffin Top
  • Billie Jean Is Not My Lover
  • High Waisted
  • Pajama Jeans Are the New Jeggings
  • Pop the Top Button
  • Can’t Breathe in These
  • I’ve Got the Blues
  • Bows in the Back (SIDE NOTE: remember Bongo jeans with these? Ahh, memories…)

LOL! Okay, apparently I’ve got way too much time on my hands…

Can you think of any more? Let’s compile a list in the comments and send them off to MAC! 🙂 Get those creative gears in…gear?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Oh, I almost forgot that the actual purpose of this post was to list the contents of the MAC Jeanius Collection.

These also sound like they would make great names for OPI nail polish. haha You know how crazy OPI gets with their names! I’m looking forward to the e/s and blushes in this collection.

I love the blue nail polish as well as the blue and black e/s. If the texture is similar to the Tartan Tale Semi Precious and Glamora Castle – I’m in.

Anywho, this should be your collection, for sure!

Love your list! I feel like there needs to be a homage to Guess jeans (I had the pair that was darker denim in the back, acid washed on the front) and pegging your jeans super tight at the ankle (did anyone else do that??).

Btw your names are hilarious! I really like Booty pop! hahahaha

And as a tip for MAC if they want to make a jeans collection and obviously they are.. than they could be a bit more original by hooking up with a jeans brand.. you wanna do jeans? Ask Levis or Diesel or whatever worldwide knowned jeans brand..

Bwahahaha love the “Way Too Tight” name. Reminds me of the last time I tried on Guess jeans. Got my regular size (the numbers matched anyway) but trying it on made me doubt they were designed for a healthy human female.

MAC you should give us some pencil eyeliners here!

It Matches My Cat- black eyeliner

    Impossible to Find- blue-black eyeliner

Cowgirl- light blue with grey pearl.

Rant warning. NOTICE FOR ALL MALES: Do not, I repeat….do NOT get on the My Underwear is Showing Trend. When you walk it should not look like your pants are about to fall down. I should not see the seat of your boxers. It makes me want to tap you anxiously on the shoulder and ask if you know your underwear is showing. In the same tone I’d inform you your fly is undone or there’s plant material in your teeth. BLAGGGGG! Sometimes fashion puzzles me (MC Hammer pants?) but this just grates on the nerves.
