Today Mother Nature Did My Makeup, and She Used Products from Make Up For Ever, MAC, NARS, Pacifica and Laura Mercier

November 29th, 2011 by Karen 44 Comments

make up for ever wild & chic palette

Today I found my makeup inspiration by looking down — down at the multi-colored leaves scattered on the sidewalk outside. Yup, I turned to Mother Nature this afternoon and reached for colors in copper, beige and khaki for my face of the day.

I’ve been meaning to try a look with Make Up For Ever’s new Wild & Chic Palette ($39) for, um, ever! MUFE fans, this palette does not disappoint. The rich colors are super easy to blend, and I think they look pretty great in pictures, too.

This look also features my new favorite lip combo — Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint in Blood Orange topped with Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Blush. I wore it last week to Thanksgiving dinner and even got a few compliments from the makeup-loving cousins. 🙂

The look also features a few other tidbits from MAC and NARS.

Hope you had a nice afternoon. I just got back from a quick trip to the Neiman Marcus store in SF’s Union Square to check out their new Tom Ford Beauty counter.

I’ve liked most of what I’ve seen from the line so far and really wanted to try a few other things, like their blush and foundation. I snapped a bunch of pics and picked up a few interesting details while I was there… I’ll let you know as soon as I’ve uploaded the pictures.

Right now Tabs is demanding that I pay attention to him, and he won’t take no for an answer.

Big surprise. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    LOVE! It’s so very fall.

(Um… is it even still autumn? We got our first snowfall mid-month; I don’t know what the rest of the world looks like anymore! But I’m pretty sure that the trees here are now barren. I think. Possibly. Maybe.)

Can’t wait to read your thoughts on the Tom Ford lineup ;o)

When I first saw this in my Google Reader, I thought it said “Today my mother did my makeup” and saw the picture and thought she did a very good job. 😀

Is the Pacifica lip balm scented/flavored? Is the Lip Glace?

      Hi Jen,

LOL! My mom is not a makeup person. She wears lipstick and that’s about it! Yeah, the apple fell FAR from the tree.

Anywho, the Pacifica Tint has a very faint citrus/fruity scent (I can hardly tell it’s there) and it’s unflavored. The Lip Glace a light brown sugar scent/flavor.

      Hi Chris,

That’s the top part of a dress I bought in a random, no-name shop in SF in 2001. Eek! I like it because it’s stretchy and comfortable. I wish I could tell you the designer but I cut the tags off long ago.

I’m wearing this eye(shadow) look today! I got the palette on Monday, it’s my first MUFE e/s. I’m a bit surprised because some of the e/s do not seem to be very pigmented (like the green one). I’m loving the look though, the copper is not OTT. I also got a set of Wild & Chic mini Aqua Liners (it’s not the one sold in US Sephora, but with 5 minis, black, brown, purple, copper, and green).

What a sad little palette MUFE came out with… I was expecting something way better since they could not sell their Smoky palette in the US>
