The NARS Calanque Eyeshadow Trio ($45), from the NARS Spring 2011 collection.

This just popped on my doorstep two seconds ago. What do you think? I’m a neutrals girl, so I’m all over it. 🙂

No kidding! For that amount the pan should be twice as big, for reals.

I want! Got a call from my Nordy’s NARS manager and they got them in today. I want a few gloss pencils too. Agree that the price is a bit steep–$35 would be better Francois, eh?

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this trio and hope to get mine sometime tomorrow! 🙂 I passed on the Okinawa trio (although it is lovely), and was happy when I saw this new one being offered for Spring. Hope to get a lot of use out of it. 🙂

I met him in person and he’s very handsome:

I am so jealous. I can’t believe he’s (probably) 40-something. He looks so young! I would have totally been starstruck, too.

Calanque looks gorgeous! I was able to swatch it and look at briefly, To me the creme color didn’t seem as pigmented. I am still going to purchase it, you can get a lot of use out of these beautiful neutrals!

Hi, i’m new to your blog and love it! Anyways, I was wondering… How in the world do you get the shadows to stay so clean? Every time i use calanque, I am a glittery mess (thanks to the lightest shade)
I am on the fence about returning it. I bought sephoras glitter glue primer to make it work, and i still manage to get fallout. I love the two other shades though. Do you have any recommendations for dupes?

      Hi Shrnarch,

I start with NARS Pro Prime (it seems to get the shadow to stick better to my lids), then I I buff the glittery shade out with a MAC 217, which seems to mellow out the glitter. Also, I do my eye makeup first — I clean up any excess fallout with a makeup wipe and then apply foundation, concealer, powder, etc.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
