Unsung Heroes: Benefit Skinny Jeans Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

November 5th, 2012 by Karen 39 Comments

Wearing Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Skinny Jeans

Aaand this is how much I love Benefit’s $19 Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Skinny Jeans…

an empty pot of benefit skinny jeans!

Yeah, THAT much.

I just picked up my umpteenth pot and figured it was high time I publically professed my love for this shimmery cream eyeshadow.

Why? Because these Skinny Jeans are astronomical! — in that they also moonlight as an eyeliner and an eyeshadow base.

Benefit describes the color as a “pretty pewter,” but I think Skinny Jeans is more complex than that. On my NC42 skin, it’s like an alchemist’s brew, an enchanting blend of khaki, gray and taupe.

So pretty!

Question: how are real skinny jeans like zombies? Answer: they keep coming back from the dead! Seriously, what’s up with that? Just when I think skinny jeans have gone out of style forever, they come back! Which reminds me…OMG! Last night’s The Walking Dead!!

I happen to love these skinny jeans, because unlike the tapered Guess acid-washed pair (with the zippers on the ankles) I wore in eighth grade, these always fit. 🙂

You know how a black blazer can really dress up a pair of jeans and a white tee? Well, that’s what I think Skinny Jeans does for my eyes.

If I’m wearing something basic and simple — like maybe a sheer lip balm, a dash of cream blush and a couple coats of mascara — Skinny Jeans on my lids and lower lash lines adds some polish to the look and turns things up a notch.

I’ll happily wear this Creaseless Cream/Liner any time of year, but because it has some smokiness to it, my favorite times to wear it are fall and winter.

Most of the time, I’ll apply Skinny Jeans with a fluffy, domed eyeshadow brush like the 217 Blending Brush from MAC, buffing a layer or two on my lids, and then for extra definition, I’ll run a small amount along my lower lash lines with a pencil brush. A quick lash curl and a couple coats of mascara later, and I’m done!

Oh, I also think Skinny Jeans looks amazing layered on top of powder eyeshadows. When I want to deepen and enrich the khakis, taupes or grays in my collection, I’ll press Skinny Jeans on my lids with a finger and smooth out the edges before patting and blending the closest eyeshadow in reach directly on top (for this I really like the Hourglass Dune Duo, MAC Club and MAC Sumptuous Olive).

Worn this way, the shadows last all day long without creasing.

I LOVE this color, and I think it’s one of those products that just about any gal (or guy) can use. I’d even go so far as to call it an essential, like a good brow filler, a great lash curler or a lipstick that makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. 🙂

Speaking of skinny jeans…

Blast you, Nordstrom catalogue! Blast you and your irresistable temptations!

The new one arrived in the mail last weekend, and the theme appears to be pricey party outfits.

Most of the things I’m lusting after are out of my price range…but I still like looking at the pictures for inspiration.

Like this outfit with skinny jeans and a blazer…

I’d rock that in a hot second…if it was already in my closet and I had a party to go to, LOL!

Tabs never invites me to any of the soirees he attends… I’m usually left behind to tend to the boring admin stuff while he lives it up and paints the town red. 😉

And now, “In other news…”

I couldn’t think of a better way to transition from skinny jeans to this next topic: The Walking Dead.

If you saw it last night, WE NEED TO TALK. I feel traumatized.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Skinny Jeans was on my “possible” wish list. Consider it officially bumped to the actual list.

      Hi Alison,

Yay! I think you’ll love it. It’s an awesome everyday color to have around, and it’s so, so flexible.

Great color! Karen, I see that you have NC40 skin type, how does one learn their “type?”.

    Thx!

      Hi Jenny,

I got mine matched at the MAC counter. It’s just a general point of reference that moset people seem to know. Do you live near a MAC counter?

        Hi, Karen-

Unfortunately, no. We love about 2 hrs from the closest MAC counter! Sigh 🙂

          Hi Jenny,

Well, you still might be able to ballpark your color. 🙂 Generally if you have more yellow tones in your skin, you’re an NC; if you’re more cool-toned, then you’re an NW. The higher the numbers go, the darker the shade in the foundation.

That’s a mesmerizing color on you, Karen. It’s no wonder why you’ve hit pan.

As for The Walking Dead…oh my goodness. I have a gajillion things to say, but I don’t think you’ve the time to read an essay, LOL. Several things on my mind, though:

    1) The acting between Michonne and the Governor was spectacular to watch, and the Governor’s interactions with Andrea and Merle reveal just how charismatic and manipulative he is.
    2) I screamed the entire duration of Lori’s C-Section. So much…blood. So traumatized. (Though, T-Dog’s throat getting chomped off was pretty horrific.)

I love how Skinny Jeans seem to look a bit different on people. On me it looks more greyish while on Sunny it looks more green. The formula is really great too! For some reason people tend to overlook the Benefit cream es here, which is too bad because they are really good!

Don’t own Skinny Jeans but I can guarantee I’ll be going out and buying a pair . . . I mean a pot of this. The color is awesome.

The Walking Dead – WOW! I was literally sobbing when Lori died and I was crying when T-Dog died. The scene between her and Carl was so, so, so sad! And Rick at the end . . . I’m shocked my eyes weren’t puffy the next morning. I’m curious to see how he copes through this with a newborn that might not be his. I hope Carol’s not dead! She needs to hook up with Darryl!
