These New Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners Live Exclusively at Sephora

October 5th, 2010 by Karen 75 Comments

benefit creaseless cream shadow swatches review purple snap tidal wave silver spoon

I feel like I’ve been robbed of a Tuesday afternoon. Seriously, where’d it go? One minute I’m playing with a few of the new Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners ($19 each; exclusive to Sephora), and the next minute it’s dark and I hear crickets outside!

benefit creaseless cream shadow swatches review purple snap tidal wave silver spoon back

Maybe I was just having so much fun finger painting my lids that time got away from me.

I know I’ve gushed over Benefit’s Creaseless Creams many times before. I’m like a broken record with them, “Benefit Creaseless Creams! Benefit Creaseless Creams!” Sorry. It’s just that I like ’em that much.

More on the Benefit Creaseless Creams…

  • The $38 Benefit Femme Metale Precious Metals Eye Makeup Kit: An Alchemist’s Delight
  • Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow: A Quick Look

And now with Purple Snap, Tidal Rave, Silver Spoon and Icy White showing up at Sephora, I better warn you — I’m going to do it again!

The New Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners: Sephora Exclusives

TIDAL RAVE

I tried three of the four new colors today and picked a favorite: Tidal Rave. Truthfully, its name gave it a big advantage over the other two. Coupled with its color — shimmery teal with golden glitter — which Benefit must have borrowed from a peacock, my loving it was a foregone conclusion.

I did a light wash with it over the entire eye and then added a few more layers directly onto the lid.

HOLY! I just thought of something… Can you picture MAC Club worn on top of this!? Oh, that’s something I have got to try. MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

PURPLE SNAP

I thought I’d seen Purple Snap somewhere before but couldn’t place it at first. Now I know where it was, or something like it — Gossip, a Creaseless Cream from the spring of 2009, and Plum-Ing for Gold, from the Femme Metale Kit.

But I pulled both of them out to take a closer look, and Purple Snap’s actually quite different, more of a pastel lavender than the other two.

And Purple Snap is no snap to apply. It’s so pigmented, and I find it rather easy to over-apply. The result looked a little patchy and uneven, so less is probably more when it comes to this shade. MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B

SILVER SPOON

I would have liked to have been born with one of these… Ya know, I have to be in the mood for silver eyeshadow, but this version of the color could put me in the mood more often. It’s a pearly silver with hints of medium gray, almost like liquid mercury in cream form. Try it layered on top of a dark creamy black pencil for a slammin’ smokey eye. Ricky Schroder would approve. MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A

I haven’t seen the fourth shade, Ice Shot, in person yet, but I’ll post a swatch when I can. It’s described as an icy white. Ooh, right? I can’t wait! 🙂

Ha ha!

If you’re chomping at the bit for these, you might want to bite sooner than later; once Sephora clears these out of stock, they’ll be gone, POOF! All four limited edition colors are available now at Sephora stores and online at sephora.com.

How do you feel about these (and the Benefit Creaseless Creams in general)?

Onward to Wednesday!

I hope your Tuesday was more productive than mine. It was another one of those days for me, you know the kind. You start out with a long list of things you want to get done but only get to two or three of them. Lovely, but tomorrow’s a new day!

Before I dive headfirst into a bowl of Trader Joe’s chicken chow mien, I have to share my new favorite song (new to me), India.Arie’s A Beautiful Day.

I love this part:

Life is a challenge, not a competition
You can still smell the roses and be on a mission
Just take a moment to get in touch with your heart
Sometimes you feel like you’ve got something to prove
Remind yourself that there’s only one you

Cheesy? Yeah, but who cares? 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,ac

Karen

ohh my Tidal Rave is gorgeous. I could picture it under Club, with some gold dabbed on the inner corner. I’ve actually never tried Benefit’s cream shadows. I treated myself to an Estee Lauder cream shadow after I saw your post about a year ago, and I loved it so much I’m tempted to go back for more colors. I just might have to pick up one of these too…

Yes – my two favorites: birthday suit and skinny jeans (need a new one boo). I thought that exact same thing when I saw the Tidal Wave shade – it would look even better layered with MAC’s Club. I hear good things about the R.S.V.P. shade too, is that LE?

also, bonus points for the india.arie track! ghetto and chocolate high are my faves from that record. have you heard jazmine sullivan’s new track? it’s called holding you down (goin’ in circles) and i’m so obsessed with it! check it out when you can, i think you’ll love it 🙂

Oooh, I love Tidal Wave, especially after Platinum from Femme Metale left me twitching. Patchy, patchy, patchy.

Was Platinum patchy for you too? I don’t have as much trouble with Taupe-aztic (even though sometimes it likes to be mean and apply patchy) but Platinum is notoriously patchy with a capital P, A, T, C, H,Y.

By the way, I’m peeved at Zena. She came in with a giant mud streak down the side of her neck; she got a bath on Saturday and blessed on Sunday. I thought she had changed her wicked ways! GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Hi Advah,

It might be because of how the finish on these photograph; in real life Tidal Rave and Purple Snap aren’t chalky at all. Silver Spoon can look frosty on my skin color because I’m darker, but it’s no prob if I do lighter washes.

TIdal Wave looks hot! I think the Benefit Creaseless Creams are wonderful, but they dry out quickly. I think they are good if you have a few shades that are constantly in rotation, but for the few and far between uses, I think there are other cream products that last longer.

dude!! Tidal Rave reminds me a LOT of Benefit’s Show Offs! in Mint Julep. I freakin LOVE that color – it’s the perfect blue/teal/gold accent for my blue eyes (one of the only blue shadows I’m comfortable wearing, in fact). I still have my little pot of it, even though the stuff’s been discontinued for years, ha. NGL, though, having that type of color in a creaseless cream would be the BOMB DIGGITY. The show offs! can be a little messy to apply.

Pretty! do you know off the top of your head if there is a black creaseless cream? i’m looking for something to use as a primer/base for when I do smokey eyes. I actually have the black MAC paint pot, and I’m going to chuck it. It is so hard to work with-hard, dry, patchy. I’ve tried applying everyway I can think of and it’s horid.

Strut’s not close to black at all (it’s my favorite CC). Strut is a shimmery medium charcoal grey. It doesn’t look black in any light. If you’ve ever grilled with charcoal, the color of Strut is the grey of the charcoal after you’ve used it. Or if you’ve ever seen wet concrete that they use for house foundations, that’s close to Strut. Try googling images of Strut. It’s one of those greys that are just impossible to explain. “Shimmery medium charcoal” is the closest I can get.

They don’t have a CC that’s close to black that I’ve seen.

There used to be one called Towncar that was AMAZING. Unfortch they’ve been phasing it out. If you can find it (there are some floating around), then snatch it up ASAP.

They do have something now called strut, but it’s not a true black.
