Benefit Spring 2009 Creaseless Cream Shadows: Fast Forward to Summer

February 17th, 2009 by Karen 34 Comments

Sit that luscious booty down, girl, because Benefit’s three new Creaseless Cream Shadows ($19) are all about summer, summer, summer time (remember that Fresh Prince song?).

Buckle your seat belt and hold the eff on!

Technically, the new shades belong to Benefit’s new spring 2009 collection, but they’ve got summer written all over ’em.

Not one to release traditional spring colors just because other companies are, Benefit skipped the usual spring pastels and went with almost tropical coral, gold and violet.

Flyin’ Down To, Sippin’ N Dippin’, Samba-dy Loves Me

Flyin’ Down To, Samba-dy Loves Me, Sippin’ N Dippin’

Like Benefit’s other Creaseless Creams Shadows, the new spring shades feel moist, creamy and apply with rich pigmentation. Color lasts all day sans fading or creasing, too, and they build really well, applying layer upon layer without cake or crust.

As far as value is concerned, they work as more than mere eyeshadows. They multitask like a mo’ fo, filling in for eyeliners and eyeshadow primers in a pinch.

The new colors include…

Flying Down To, a shimmery violet that looks like it’ll look good by itself on the lid or paired with pastel pinks and purples. OOH! Imagine it together with a glossy violet lip. HOTNESS! Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Sippin’ N Dippin’, a shimmery peachy coral, moves my coral-loving soul. I have a feeling it’ll look *banging* on the eyes as a primer beneath last summer’s Chanel Oasis Quad. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

Samba-dy Loves Me, a shimmery peachy gold, looks like it was born to pair with khakis, golds and bronze eyeshadow shades. I can’t wait to try it beneath last summer’s Dior 569 eyeshadow palette! Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

I’m a huge fan of the Creaseless Creams! I can’t recommend them enough. They work a lot like MAC’s Paint Pots do, but I think they might even be a little easier to blend and apply. If you’re a MAC Paint Pot fan, keep your eyes peeled for Benefit’s Creaseless Creams.

WOW! It’s a stormy day out here in Nor Cal. It was even hailing a few minutes ago.

I’m just going to stare at these summery Benefit colors and pretend it’s the middle of July…

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    Hi Shefali,

The lipstick review will be up soon! 🙂

I totally want to collect more of the Creaseless Creams and have a little CC army at my disposal. Please tell me you have Birthday Suit… it’s the BEST!

Wow – they look gorgeous! I usually stay away from cream shadows (petrified of creasing) but I think I may have to get my hands on these. I’m particularly loving that violet.

Hey Karen! I don’t have Birthday Suit…I will check it out when I go to check out these new ones. I have Gossip (in the perm line) and Pre Nup (from Spring 08). I love them both! Pre Nup is actually on sale right now on their website 🙂

    Hi Katherine,

Creasing sucks, but these do a great job of remaining crease-free.

If you still have trubs, I highly recommend layering Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer beneath your cream shadows to give them extra “stick”!

    Hey Shefali!

Oh, I think you will love Birthday Suit. It looks great on brown skin. Plus, it has this “brightening” effect. I swear, even if I get no sleep the night before if I wear Birthday Suit I look wide awake.

Shoot, I might now have to get Pre Nup, now, too. 🙂 It’s on sale in the “Buh Byes” section for $14.50.

I have “Flying Down To…” and it looks wonderful layered under a shimmery brown eyeshadow… It creates a bronzed effect, very summery! I also have “RSVP”, another one of the Creasless Cream Shadows and I love it even more. It’s a champagne-ish shade that makes any eyeshadow look deeper and have more depth. I use it as a primer.

    Hi Leah,

Oh, that’s a lovely idea to pair it with a shimmery brown. I’m going to try it with MAC Soba and Sable.

RSVP sounds like it’s just up my ally, too.

Hmm, Gossip’s looking pretty nice, too!

We don’t have ONE single Benefit counter in the state of Alaska, so I’ve collected them on eBay without sampling. I’m the same coloring and nationality as Karen and I reach for Birthday Suit & Skinny Jeans constantly. RSVP, Flatter Me, Gossip, Get Figgy, Busy Signal, & Pre-nup def work on my skin tone & eye color. Strut is a little dark but workable. Marry Up & Bunny Hop are a no go. I shouldn’t have bothered with Towne Car. I also use TFSI as a base, the consistency and quality of the product is outstanding.

I’m liking the Sambady & Flyin so far, but I’ve pared down my makeup obsession in favor of kitchen stuff. I think the BF finds me sexier if I’m handing him tasty food 😉

Hey Karen! OMG, I think you will love Pre Nup. We have similar skin tone and I love the iridescent shimmer quality to it.

Birthday Suit is on my list!! I can’t wait to try it out this weekend 🙂 Making a Macy’s trip to check all this out!

What do you usually like to pair Pre Nup with? Are their certain combos that I’ve gotta try?

Yeah, I like the look of Gossip too!

Ha, I referred to “Denim”, but what I really meant was Strut! They describe the color as “smoky denim”! It’s a wonderful liner color! 🙂

i wore skinny jeans today and along with the dark grey of my nars ‘paris’ duo – i got compliments and made me think why don’t i own more benefit creaseless cream shadows? you are right they do blend easier than the pigment pots but i can’t turn my shoulder on my beloved ‘rubenesque’ but i am feeling samba-dy loves me and sippin n’dippin – how do they compare to rubenesque?

    Hi Karen B.,

In terms of texture, I like these a little more than the Paint Pots. The Benefit ones are softer and easier to blend, me thinks.

OH, and I LOVE your new hair! You look so pretty!

Now that you’re sporting the darker locks this gives you (and me) and excuse to find you some new colors. 🙂

    Hi Lexi,

From what I recall of Rubenesque, Samba-dy Loves Me looks more pink and Sippin’ N Dippin’ is a cooler gold. If you’re happy with Rubenesque then probably don’t need them.

It looks like you’ve got some deep reds in there! Have you had the chance to check out MAC Brunette Blonde Redhead yet? I remember you saying that you liked the Redhead line most — perhaps your new hair would be the perfect excuse to get a few goodies!

Yeah, but I won’t be able to go to Stockholm (read: a MAC store) until the beginning of April… Not sure if there’ll still be some left. I did like the redhead line most… Let’s hope I can get my hands on some goodies. And if all else fails I can try to see if they have a website that ships to Sweden somewhere…
It’s so much fun to have a new colour. Half my clothes look so much better, the colours are more flattering. Weird as I’m not a natural redhead…

I tried these today at Sephora. I put Samba-dy Loves Me on the lid and Flyin’ Down To on the outer part of my eyelid and it looked absolutely amazing. I think I may go back and purchase this weekend :).

Yours is the first blog to review these, and I’ve been dying to see some pics so thanks a bunch!!

I’m curious if Gossip and Flyin down to look similar, it’s so hard to tell on online swatches, and these new pots haven’t launched in Singapore yet.

The creaseless creams are probably my favorite product from Benefit, but do you also once in a while open up the pot and get the smell of butter wafting at you? I totally do!

I picked (and am sporting today) Flyin’ Down to…what a super versatile and hot color. Love! I also picked up Thrillin’ Brazilin lip stick. The texture and color of these are really nice. Looking forward to much wear out of these. Thanks so much for your review!
