Get the Chanel Look for Less With the $18 Charlotte Ronson Starry Eyes Liquid Eyeshadows

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight…I wish I may, I wish I might, have the Chanel wish I wish tonight…

Any and all liquid-to-powder eyeshadows stamped with the Chanel double C’s on the cap are pretty much rad in my book.

Too bad they always cost 8 million bucks… Or thereabouts. Okay, well $32. But that’s still pretty steep, considering you could snag 32 Taco Bell tacos for the price of a single lovely tube of Chanel Ombres D’Eau Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow.

Sad panda.

But wait! — have the heavens heeded my call…? Is that a more affordable option, I see?

Yes, I believe it is. Thanks to Sephora and Charlotte Ronson.

The four lightweight liquid-to-powder Starry Eyes Liquid Eyeshadows, available now at Sephora stores and sephora.com, are priced at a much more palatable $18, and from here they look heavily inspired by Chanel.

From their gorgeous glass tubes, to their dainty doe-foot applicators, all the way down to the colors themselves, these crease-resistant eyeshadows glow and shimmer very much like their pricier Chanel counterparts.

“Fashion ‘it’ girl Charlotte Ronson is best known for combining her effortless sense of style with her chic downtown designs. Fun and trendy, though wearable, Charlotte is bringing the same sensibility to her new beauty collection.”

— Sephora.com

Golden beige Kelly reminds me of Chanel Delta, silvery pink Sky resembles Chanel River, golden olive Shiri could stunt double for Chanel Torrent, and bronzy taupe Alison is like Chanel Splash’s kissing cousin.

They’re kinda fun to use. Just shake the bottle to mix the powder and liquid formula, swipe the doe-foot applicator across your lids, and blend with a finger.

Voilà!

For a more intense effect, wait for the product to dry before applying additional layers. Work quickly, though, because these babies dry fast.

Oh, and as a bonus, these Starry Eyes also double as bases/primers that you can wear beneath traditional powder eyeshadows.

Sweet. 🙂

Ooh, I think my local JC Penney’s Sephora carries this line — I’ll have to take a look. I love this type of shadow.

The swatches certainly seem to have captured Tabs’ attention!

      Hi Heidi,

He’s usually a Chanel kind of cat, but he makes exceptions every once in a while.

How’s the weather up your way? It’s been hot, hot, HOT here!

SO hot today. I was out running errands with a friend and it was about 93 degrees! Missy doesn’t like this weather and is being very vocal about it.

Oh, so get this: we have a party program at church where people agree to host different theme parties to raise funds. My friend Jeanette and I are hosting a CCL party! We were out today looking at cat-related party stuff. You HAVE to get over to Cost Plus and check out these napkins and wine bottle gift bags we saw. They dress the cats up like different people like Lady Gaga, Jack Sparrow (a feline Johnny Depp is a thing of wonder), and Audrey Hepburn in full on Breakfast at Tiffany’s outfit! SO cute!

          Hi Heidi,

So is Tabs. You know cats — they think that the elements are all our fault, le sigh! Side note: would Missy ever consider a lion cut? I’ve heard it helps to cool down the kitties.

I kind of love that you’re throwing a CCL party! That is awesome! I’m going to be in Southern Marin tomorrow so I’ll try to stop by Cost Plus. I NEED THAT KITTY JACK SPARROW IN MY LIFE.

You TOTALLY need the Kitty Jack Sparrow in your life! Although, I must say that the Kitty Lady Gaga is mighty fierce. We’re talking red eye makeup!

I don’t think a lion cut will be happening in Missy’s life, ever. She barely lets me brush her, I can’t imagine her reaction if I come near with a pair of shears!

I know exactly the color you’re talking about, Agata! After I ran into these at Sephora I had to dig mine out. 🙂 When you find it you’ve gotta remember to try it with MAC Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow. The two are perfection together.

      How’s your day going, btw?

      Hi Nina,

I know! I strolled by the display the other day and these totally caught my eye. I got to talking with one of the SA’s at Sephora and she said that the eyeshadows and the face palette with the blush, highlighter and bronzer are really good too.

Those really do look similar! Very pretty! In theory, I love them. They are just so pigmented and pretty and metallic–but I just don’t think I would use them very often if I did get one. The look is almost too metallic–no quick washes of color here (which is what I generally do everyday)

      Hi Becca,

You could easily sheer these out so that they’re less metallic and more like a wash of color. Just mellow ’em out with a fingertip. Super easy!

Hey Karen, if you had to recommend one shade/eyeshadow choice for NC35-NC40 gals for a simple wear and go kinda’ look for everyday, what would it be. Would love to know–thank you :).

      Hi Kim,

You can easily mellow these out so they look more like a wash of shimmer on the lid. 🙂 I just knew you’d love the shimmer in these!

Can this be used as eyeliner? There is another eyeshadow that I’ve been looking at. The one used for Cinna in The Hunger Games. They used eyeshadow to create his eyeliner. I’ve been trying to find something a little cheaper than that product and then I found this. I thought maybe it could work but I’m not quite sure.
