Granted, I wear my crazy cat lady costume 365 days of the year, but for the purpose of a last-minute Halloween costume, I feel like I need to put in a little extra work to truly get the message across. 🙂
This costume draws inspiration from a crazy cat lady action figure I found a few years ago at the bookstore.
See, homegirl’s got the right idea. Why bother to put on real clothes when the cats just ruin ’em anyway? LOL!
To start, I grabbed my bathrobe and pinned a few stuffed cats on it. FYI, you need a minimum of three kitties, because the third cat is the gateway cat. It’s the crucial part of the puzzle that takes you from a mere “casual feline enthusiast” to full-blown CCL.
Then I put my hair up in rollers, put on some crazy, bright and glittery makeup…
…and then did a kitty-inspired mani.

If you really want to make the costume authentic, add a large lint roller (real crazy cat ladies never leave home without them… Yes, I know from experience!) and a bag of cat treats. And maybe even a real cat, but only if yours isn’t terrified of the stuffed ones.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Ha!! Oh my god, I LOVE this costume idea, Karen — not only is it hilarious, it’s so very MABB 😛 Brilliant!

Thanks, Rae. 🙂 This was a lot of fun.
Awesome!! I love the lint roller as a prop. And the nails.
Thanks. 🙂 Oh yeah, the Giant Lint Roller from Target is totally cat lady approved. Two paws up!
This is great! I love your makeup! I am guessing I will have to check out these Sephora jumbo eye pencils – I just got rid of makeup today that wasn’t working well or didn’t have staying power, so I’m in the market for a few new things!
Thanks! This is my first time using the Sephora Jumbo Eye Pencils and so far I like them. They’re kinda like super soft, fatty-bo-batty versions of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils.
Oh, and if you end up trying this look one of the tricks is to apply a layer of glitter, wait for it to dry, and then repeat. I’ve found that if I put all the glitter on at once it tends to clump up and go on unevenly.
Oh LOL Karen, this is why I love you! It’s the most awesome thing ever!

LOL this is TOO AWESOME!!! The best last-minute Halloween idea EVER!
HAHAHAHAHHA. This is one of those “I wish I thought of it first!” kinda ideas. Bravo. Lint brush and Temptations. Brilliant!

Dog owners don’t leave home with the giant lint roller either….at least, not if you’re a Zena owner. If you switched out the cats for dogs, and cat treats for Greenies for dogs (the value pack!) you could be a demented dog lady. 🙂
I couldn’t stop laughing reading your post 🙂 if I have some last minute Halloween party to go to this year, its totally going to be my costume. You’re awesome Karen.
You’re so darned cute!
Love the blog, I usually lurk. Your costume is so cute! I was watching Batman the other day the one with Michael Keaton & Michelle Pfieffer. You could do Catwoman or Cat Woman before she became Cat Woman she was working the smudged eye liner etc
Just an idea
Hahaha this is freaking AWESOME Karen–so you!!! 😛 And btw, crazy cat lady or not, you makeup looks FIERCE! Those purple glittery eyes paired with hot pink lips are just poppin’!!!
I love this costume! I hope you don’t mind if I shamelessly copy your idea! Brilliant, simple, and completely fun.
AHAHAHAHA

J’adore !
It´s really one of the most funny and cute costume I ever seen (please, excuse my mistakes)
OMG Love this! So perfect and doesn’t look at all last minute 😀
Wow, Karen! I am loving this idea. Making me a bit ashamed of my own costume and lack of effort put into it… 😛

OMG, Karen! Please get Marmalade off your shoulder before Tabs accidentally rips your face off! HAHA! I actually love your take on the CCL but you look too young and hip for anyone to really believe it. 🙂
Haha, I like how you put it: “casual feline enthusiast to full-blown CCL”! I love this look! What did Tabs think when he saw you in this getup?
Full of Win! And probably so very comfortable w/the pajama pants & bathrobe.
This is the best costume idea I have ever seen! I love the purple glam make-up!
That’s BRILLIANT! I love all the little extra touches — lint roller, nails… too much fun! You can give out cat treats instead of candy… or at least have some bags of cat treats in your candy dish…
OMGosh, this is soooooo hilariously over-the-top! (Although I have to agree… you’re like the über-glam CCL all the *real* CCLs out there are now aspiring to be, LOL…)
Oh Karen 🙂 this is hilarious. You’re a riot!
I like when you do your eye makeup like that. The bolder look and purples and blues are very flattering. The Nars cobalt blue you did a while back was my favorite, you can pull it off.
Too funny… my brother gave me that action figure for my birthday a few years ago! I left it in the package, just like your picture. I’m making (yes, still in process- I do my best work at the last minute!) a stewardess costume for the costume balls on Church Street tomorrow night in Toronto 🙂 Going to be a blast!
LOVE this idea!!!!!
I just died a little. Seriously, I just forwarded this to all my cat friends. So fantastic.
