In Daydreams, I See Oceans of Shimmer: The Glossy, Glittery Glossimers From the New Chanel Revelation Collection

Published in: Chanel, Lips, Makeup, Product Reviews

Chanel Daydream Glossimer

Starring in a reverie near you, Chanel’s $29.50 Daydream Glossimer…

“When in doubt, Chanel it out.”

Wouldn’t that look great on a t-shirt? Or a bumper sticker? Or maybe tattooed on a Chanel addicted beauty fanatic’s inner wrist (in sans serif font, of course)?

This, my friend, is my new makeup mantra: “When in doubt, Chanel it out.”

It occurred to me earlier this week — a revelation of sorts — as I was trying to figure out to wear to that work lunch I went in the city last Tuesday.

I was stumped and rutting around through my makeup drawer. Couldn’t figure out what I wanted to wear, and then I remembered the quad and blush from the spring 2013 collection and spotted one of the new Glossimers from the new Chanel Revelation collection.

“When in doubt, Chanel it out.”

Oh, babe! The spring collection’s glosses, and that Taboo nail polish, are fodder for daydreams. Think glossy, glittery lips and rich, interstellar indigo tips that twinkle like little stars.

For the season, Coco’s crew positioned the Glossimers as essentials for your makeup kit, like must-have purses and shoes — wearable, flexible, because they can go with so many different outfits and looks. The collection includes a mix of 10 new and re-promoted glosses, some of them on the sheer, subtle side, like sheens, and others sparkly metallics.

Three of the high-shine shades — Ocean Shimmer, Rose Sauvage and Daydream — have been spending time on my lips this week, and they’re so sparkly that they steal the spotlight when I wear them with my favorite chandelier earrings.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. G’morning! Another sunny day here on my side of the keyboard in Nor Cal. I have the feeling today’s going to be one of those days where I need a few extra helpings of caffeine. You up for a virtual Starbucks run?

One day I will get a Chanel lipstick/gloss and it will be a day my husband will declare me insane probably…lol

A virtual Starbucks run? Sure! Always!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Agata,

And that will be a beautiful day! I wish they would repromote Astral, which is my favorite Glossimer of all time. It’s this really beautiful sparkly hot pink…amazing.

Okay, what’s should we order you for the virtual Starbucks run? I’m getting a dirty Chai latte.

      • Agata says:

Sephora is having their VIB 15% sale going on till 04/22. I am really tempted to splurge on a lipstick or a lip gloss from the spring Dior collection. The Princess lipstick is such a flattering pink color.

I will have a Vanilla Latte, sugar free!

        • Karen says:

Oh yeah, I know! I have to go and re-stock on some “essentials” (LOL). What else is on your VIB list?

          • Agata says:

My list is too long to be ever fulfilled :) I’d like to get some moisturizer from Origins and the Beauty Elixir from Claudalie and YSL Touche Eclat foundation and the Buxom Bronzer from the new collection :) That’s just a few things….

          • Karen says:

I just tried that new Buxom Bronzer today! It’s pretty good.

I mostly need hair stuff. Shampoo and conditioner from In Living Proof, some styling things. I’m also on a body care kick.

Speaking of hair, yay for your new peek-a-boo highlights. What did you hubs say about your new ‘do?

        • MonicaP says:

It use to be 20% .. those suits at Sephora are cheapos!

          • Agata says:

Ohh I have always wanted to try the Living Proof products. Are they really good?

I love my new hair. Hubby said it is ok, he liked just blonde better but he said that if I like it he is fine with it.

          • Karen says:

I’ve had good luck with their Restore shampoo and conditioner (the ones in the purple bottles) and Straight Spray. My hair is really hard to manage and I’m very picky!

Glad that you are thrilled with your new hair. Changing your color is so fun, isn’t it? It gets addictive, which is why I ended up with pink hair last year, LOL.

  2. Kellie says:

I don’t own any Chanel makeup…but that gloss is calling my name. Starbucks run?! Always! I will take a grande caramel light frapp…with caramel drizzle if you please!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Kellie,

I firmly believe that every gal needs at least ONE Chanel Glossimer in her life. When you see your magic shade, you’ll know. For me it was Astral. :)

  3. Squeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I can’t get enough glossimers. Ever!!!!

Wow, that was a lot of exclamation points there. I guess Chanel just brings the giggling fangirl out of me.

I’m on a minimal caffeine diet these days so I’ll just have a White Hot Chocolate. I’m not a big dark chocolate fan so regular hot cocoa at Starbucks is a little much for me. White Hot Cocoa on the other hand is decadent and delicious!

    Thanks Karen!

  4. C'enna says:

I love that motto! It pretty much describes me in the morning when im deciding on my purse of the day… however for some strange reason i do not own any cosmetics from them. Gasp! I guess im not sure what to invest in as far as their makeup

    • Karen says:

      Hi C’enna,

I dream of the day that I own a Chanel purse! I want one of the classic black quilted flap ones that you can wear cross body. Le sigh…

      • C'enna says:

Great choice on the classic black quilted! Consignment stores are the best. I couldnt afford them without the great consignment stores in L.A/Pasadena.

        • Karen says:

I figure it would go with everything. I live within driving distance of some posh neighborhoods with fancy consignment stores, but I’ve yet to find anything super cool like a Chanel purse. Random wrap dresses and BCBG shoes, yes. But no Chanel purses yet! I’m going to keep my fingers crossed.

I’m thinking for my next big birthday (in two years…40, holy sh*t), I may splurge on one. :)

          Have you always loved purses?

I ADORE THIS POST SO MUCH that I actually put aside all my stressful projects to post!

When I am stressed out and in a funk I always go to Chanel – full on Chanel face and fragrance. Today I restocked on my Chanel fragrances – MY go to Chanel fragrances – Chance Eau Tendre and Eau Fraiche. Ive been extra stressed cause i just finished moving into an apt that we just purchased so i indulged on the body products on both as well. AHHHHHHHH RETAIL THERAPY ! next up is Taboo! LOVE YA TO PIECES K! great minds think alike!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Yadi,

YAY! Long time no chat. I miss ya!

Honestly, there’s something so healing about Chanel. It’s like makeup spa for my soul, LOL! What body products did you get? I’ve been dying to pick up the Coco Mademoiselle soap.

Congrats on the new apartment. :)

  7. OMG! Those are the most glittery glosses I’ve ever seen. And do you really have to share your picture with smores?! It made my mouth water! Lol! :)

  8. Danielle says:

Very pretty. I’m not a lipgloss person, but I have heard great things about Chanel’s glosses. And my mom loves them.

  9. Kim says:

Daydream is the most gorgeous gloss I’ve seen in a LONG time. Why must you do this to me? I don’t need another gloss! :) Once again, I’m saved by the fact that there is no Chanel counter around me. That’s one positive about living in the sticks. :)

I hope your Starbucks helped. I just downed a Cherry Coke Zero and I’m still sleepier than all get out! On a funny note, I googled “all get out” to make sure that it wasn’t some strange local expression and saw that it’s in Merriam-Webster. Learn something new every day. :)

    • Karen says:

YES YOU NEED ANOTHER GLOSS. That’s what I like to tell myself when I’m digging for justification, hahaha!

So, the coffee is beginning to kick in, thank goodness. I hope you had that Cherry Coke Zero over ice!

      • Kim says:

HAHA! I knew you would say that. And Daydream is still as lovely today as it was yesterday (darn it!).

No, straight up from the can. I’m not a big ice fan (cold can hurt my teeth). Between aggressive brushing when I had braces – I’m sure you can relate! – and getting older, the poor choppers can be sensitive. :)

        • Karen says:

Well, when you find yourself daydreaming about Daydream (haha!), then you know it’s time to give in. ;)

OMG, braces. Want to know something funny? Every time I got mine tightened, I swear my parents would cook the chewiest, most leathery meat dish for dinner. No joke. I think they thought it would make me stronger or something.

  10. Tiffany says:

Mmmm Starbucks. I’ll take an iced caramel macchiato with skim milk please! I own zero Chanel makeup. Sad face. I do, however, own a fake Chanel purse my hubby picked up in Manila, lol.

    • Karen says:

You make me laugh! Why was your hubby in Manila? I have family there, btw. Random!

      • Tiffany says:

He’s been there for work. His company has call centers there. It was years ago. But you know you caught a good man when he buys you purses and pearls overseas :)

        • Karen says:

UM, yeah! Clearly a keeper. :)

Guys who bring home cupcakes unexpectedly also rock!

          • Tiffany says:

OMG I was just whining because today I realized my cupcake place closed. This is devastating :(

          • Karen says:

You are totally justified in your whining. Where I live there are a ton of cupcake shops (it’s very trendy), but there’s only one that I absolutely love because their cupcakes have the most flavor. If they ever closed up shop, I’d probably throw a huge fit. OMG, red velvet with cream cheese frosting…

          • Tiffany says:

Same here… There are other shops but they aren’t as good! Waaah! I tried several places when I was in SF forever ago… Kara’s and another place I can’t remember…

  11. Puh puh preeeeetttyyyy :-)

  12. Sunny says:

I like Daydream, and I will most definitely grab Taboo!!! We have to wait a month before this collection becomes available here though. Kinda sucks but I have infinite patience for good stuff ;)

  13. I have about 456123456 similar shades, but I love these. They are beautiful on you, and the sparkly finish is right up my alley.

  14. CrystalCandy says:

I love your new close-up swatches, we can really see the color without being too close either, so we can still see the effect with your skintone. (I think my english was pretty bad tonight LOL)

I would SO buy that tee shirt! These are pretty awesome! I love the shine and the colors and you know, Chanel really does no wrong!

  16. Shirley says:

Been reading your blog for a long time and first time posting on it. Rose sauvage looks great on you! I went out and bought rose sauvage and sundress this weekend. They are amazing. I only planned on buying one but ended up with two!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Shirley,

Thanks for leaving a comment today. I’m so pleased that you love the new Glossimers! I think I may have to go back to the counter and bring some home to live with me. :)

Did you get the chance to see Taboo nail polish? What do you think?

  17. annabella says:

Hey, love your blog and I think you are AMAZING!!! These glosses look soooooo fab- do they last long, and are they sticky?
