Wearing the New Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Frivole Is More Satisfying Than a Box of Animal Crackers

Wearing the new Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Frivole ($43) from the Printemps Précieux de Chanel Spring 2013 Collection

Oh, the sweet, sweet joy of the animal cookie/cracker…

I know it’s so 37-going-on-13, but I derive great pleasure from biting off their heads. 🙂

It’s just so satisfying!

Sometimes I’ll start by nibbling off their toes, tails or tums, but it never feels quite as right as a swift beheading.

Um…hold on a second while I add that to my list of “Sentences that inadvertently make me sound like a serial killer.”

You know what else is really satisfying? Chanel’s new Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Frivole ($43) from their spring collection.

My goodness, lovie! Wearing it has been almost as satisfying as the feeling I felt when I finished decapitating an entire tin of shortbread scottie dog cookies!

It’s the only blush in the new 22-piece Printemps Précieux de Chanel Spring 2013 Collection, and granted, it is expensive, but if you’re 1) already tanned, 2) tan easily, or 3) love bronzer so much that if you were down to your last pan, b*tches would have to pry it out of your cold, dead hands before you’d ever give it up, you’ll love how this looks on your cheeks.

Frivole is one of those blushes that looks almost unwearable in its pan. SO BRIGHT! But I think it looks much less intense on the skin.

On cheeks, it’s a warm, sun-soaked apricot with a satin finish. Wearing it, you’ll look like you just got back from a vacation where you spent the week reading Us Weekly under a beach umbrella somewhere sunny and warm.

Ahh…

It should be very flattering if you have warm undertones and/or tend to tan easily.

I think it’s absolutely beautiful, beachy and relaxed (I usually wear one or two layers), and it’s also smoother than Jeremy Renner when he hosted SNL. I’ve got these wicked winter dry patches on my cheeks, and Frivole never catches on flakes or looks patchy, and it lasts all day long on bare skin or atop foundation/tinted moisturizer.

Another thing, like the other Chanel Joues Contraste blushes, it has a fairly strong rosy scent, so if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing, you may want to sniff test before bringing it home.

Personally, I love the fragrance and find the act of brushing this blush on my cheeks strangely thrilling and satisfying! It’s the little extras like this that make me fall deeper in love with Chanel with every new collection… 🙂

I love this! Do you happen to know how it compares to Malice?

Hi, I have both. I’m about a NC40 and Frivole is more of a peachy-salmon color on the cheeks and Malice is pink and with shimmer a la Nars Orgasm. The difference is worth having both, as Malice can make me look a little ruddy if I’m not careful, while Frivole makes me look awake.

Wow it turns more pink on you compared to how it looks in the pan! So pretty! I love how products can look so different on everyone! 🙂 Amazes me every time! I love Chanel blushes-I jumped on the bandwagon just this past year with Rose Initiale and they are amazing. Will have to take a peak at this one when it hits counters and see what it looks like on me.

    Hi Karen,
Great blog ! So the question is this – I am loving the new Chanel look but also am loving the new Dior look ,Lancome not so much. Of the Dior and Chanel which should I pick? I spent a a ton getting Guerlain , Dior ,Chanel ,Lancome collections for christmas so pretty much spent out now and can only afford myself one collection for spring.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
