Yo, let’s get this straight. If you’re the type of person who’ll spend 45 minutes every night pouring over every pore in a magnifying mirror, stay far, far away from the $30 Tweezerman LED 15x Lighted Mirror, because you’ll never want to leave the house!
You can see freakin’ everything with it. It gives you hawk eyes. Every pore, every “experience line,” every rogue lunch lady chin hair that has so far eluded you. Tweezing is hella easy with this thing, too, and dare I say it — oh, so satisfying. Nothing will be able to escape your tweezers.

It’s a 15X magnification mirror with a built-in battery-powered florescent ring light and three section cups in the back to attach it to your bathroom mirror if you want.
The ring light is pretty lame, though… I could do without it because the button is hard to get to, and the light is this unflattering greenish color that gives my face a Gollum-like pallor, so I just keep it off.
What’s an unsung hero? For me, it’s an oftentimes underrated makeup/beauty morsel, a permanent collection product that scoots under the radar screen of many beauty lovers but regularly rocks my world. The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorites.
But the mirror itself is great, and the 15X magnification is more than enough. When I’m plucking my brows, or — ahem! — my Magnum P.I. mustache (which looks like a shag carpet when I hold this mirror up to my face), I can see every hair, even the tiny, barely-there hairs that just sprouted up and I would have missed with a regular magnifying mirror.
Pluck, pluck, pluck! Before you know it, every one is gone, and your upper lip and lids are smoother than a baby’s bum.
I like holding this mirror while I pluck, because it perfectly fits in my paw. Sure, you can also suction it to a flat surface using the cups on the back, but I prefer to move it around in my hand and check things out from different angles.
FYI, the intense magnification can be dizzying sometimes, so I try not to move the mirror too quickly; otherwise, I feel like I’m on the deck of a deep-sea fishing boat from Hades.

The Tweezerman 15X Magnification Mirror is $30, and you can find it at Macy’s.

HAHA! I hear you. I have a 12x on my desk (not lit) and use it for stray eyebrows all the time. I have to use the suction cups, though, because I like to pull the skin taut with one hand and tweeze with the other. 🙂 I also got a cool one a couple of years ago that does have lights but it’s not a ring and doesn’t make you look like Elphaba.
How do you get anything done with one the 12X mirror on standby? LOL I would be plucking all day. I have to put mine in a drawer in the other room otherwise I’d be tempted to keep de-fuzzing. 🙂
It’s BAD because I almost never look in the mirror but, with this on my desk, I’m constantly like “I should check my teeth/pores/chin hair/eyebrows”. GAH! Our bathroom light is pretty poor at home and I have a big window a foot away from me at work, so I pick up every stray hair (and feel slightly defeated about the pores!). HAHA!
Wow, that’s some serious magnification! I tweeze my own brows so this would be really helpful. I love being able to get rid of every last hair!
Hi Ruchita,
This mirror is no joke. You’ll find hairs you never knew existed! It’s a beautiful and terrible thing.
By the way, you’re not alone with feeling chilly these days. It’s a cool 54 and rainy here in Novato, which means I’m bundled up in a down jacket to just sit in my office. LOL! Did you use your seat warmers on the way to work? I want one for my office chair.
Haha, when it reaches 54 here you’ll see people wearing shorts. No joke! The high is only 16 degrees today so the seat heaters were on high. I use a heating pad at my desk at work year round. I get cold easily and it definitely makes a difference.
I have to say the rain and damp makes it hard to warm up. Hope Tabs is keeping you warm!
They’d probably ask to go swimming in the pool here then, haha!
Um, that’s a genius idea to have a heating pad at your desk. Now why didn’t I think of that?! What is the brand that you use and do you like it?
I think it was just a generic brand I found at Walgreens. It has three settings but even the lowest one is pretty warm. It has auto-shut off functionality which is good, because I sometimes forget to turn it off. I don’t remember it being too expensive, and I’ve definitely got my money’s worth!
I need auto shut off, for sure. I had one ages ago with only one setting (blisteringly hot) and I would always forget to turn it off. Lost it in the move here to Novato. I’ll do some looking ’round Amazon. Hopefully I can find one that’s not too expensive.
Totally off topic, but I know you love to bake… My neighbor just brought me a bag full of lemons (it’s citrus season, yay) so I’m going to make lemon bars.
Check Costco for their heated throws, or Kohl’s- they might be on clearance now. High of 9 below here this weekend, ? and it’s wonderful to use. When the dogs let me share of course.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the heads up! I have to go to Costco to get some diaper wipes so I’m gonna swing by tomorrow. 🙂
That’s so nice of the dogs to share!
Oh, I need this. I have a magnifier mirror stuck to my regular mirror. A lighted version would be fantastic. The nature of my astigmatism/near-sightedness combo means I need lots of light to see details. Thank you for posting!

Hi Rachel,
Unfortunately the light isn’t all that great. It has a weird button that’s hard to get to and the strength isn’t all that much, and it’s a weird green color. But the rest of the mirror is fab!
The light might be better than nothing. My magnifying mirror is a cheapie, so this would probably be better. I’ll check it out. Thanks!
I used to drive myself nuts trying to get every last chin and moustache hair. Now I just shave it. I was too scared for a long time to try it, because I was scared it would grow back like five o’clock shadow haha. But after reading heaps of reviews from people who do it, I gave it a go, and I would seriously not do anything else now. It leaves the skin so smooth, no peach fuzz that you can’t tweeze out, it’s brilliant for getting a smooth finish with foundation. And it exfoliates the skin when you shave, my skin looks glowy like it never has before. And no five o’clock shadows! Haha. Best of all it only takes about 5 minutes to shave instead of 30 minutes or longer trying to check I have all the stray hairs.
I have a love hate relationship with things like that. They really show everything, but on the ther hand they really show EVERYTHING and that can totally ruin my day.

I had to throw my magnifying mirror in the trash, because I suffer from dermatillomania- it’s a disease where you can’t stop picking at your skin- even if there isn’t anything…it’s a bit embarrassing, but I learned to cope -at least most of the times. However a magnifying mirror is a big no! no! for me. You just see too much! Though I have a 5x magnifying mirror- but I’m not going higher than that! ?
