Urban Decay Fall 2009: How Nude Lips Look with the 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils

July 23rd, 2009 by Karen 38 Comments

urban decay fall 2009 lip liners

Thanks to Urban Decay’s two newest 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils, public nudity is back — nudity as in nude lips, the kind that go great with everything. They’re super low maintenance, which spells great for lazy beasts like moi.

But getting the right nude lip look can be tricky. It doesn’t take much to go from Angelina Jolie lip color to Night of the Living Dead.

This fall, Urban Decay is making nude lips a little easier to get with two new shades of lip liner.

Wallflower (a warm peachy pink) and Paranoid (a cool dark pink) join UD’s existing family of 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils ($16 each).

If you’re new to them, you’re in for a treat. UD cooked up a moisturizing formula packed with hydrating ingredients like vitamin E, jojoba and cottonseed oils. They combine to create a soft, creamy lip pencil that applies like butter on bread.

All that, and they’re waterproof, too, lasting all day long without drying out my lips.

Both Paranoid and Wallflower pair perfectly with Urban Decay’s creamy pink lipstick in Naked ($22), another standout member of UD’s collection for fall.

You might like the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils in Paranoid and Wallflower if…

  • you like looks featuring nude lips,
  • you like creamy lip pencils, and/or
  • you want something waterproof and long-lasting.

No superheroes for me

El Hub and I had been planning to drive down to San Diego this weekend for Comic-Con. I was going to look for attendees in costumes and ask them about their makeup, but things heated up earlier this week with our house hunt. We think we may have found a condo, but the timing meant having to cancel our trip.

I’m a little bummed about missing Comic-Con, but if things work out, Tabs will be cavorting in new digs soon.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

mac-baby-bloom-thumbnail P.S. MAC-aholics, brace yourself, but the wait is officially over for the Baby Bloom and Love That Look collections.

MAC moved up the release date (yea!), and both are now available in stores and online. I’ll share some pics and thoughts on the collections this weekend. 🙂

You know, I’ve never been one to use a lip liner. I think I have a MAC one that I bought a while back and never really used it. Do you feel like it makes a difference for you when you use one?

I hope the condo works out for you! Would this be your first home purchase? How exciting!

      Hi Marisol,

I go through phases where I love to wear it. Then I ignore it for a few months, ha!

When I wear it beneath glosses I do notice a significant difference in wear time.

Yup, this is gonna be my first (crosses fingers). I’ve been kind of a nervous wreck lately… the whole process is kinda stressful and I’m ready to move on!

Anyhoo, happy Friday. Do you have any exciting plans this weekend?

I’ve never used a lip liner under lipstick before. I read it helps keep lipstick on but I guess I’m too lazy 🙂 Fingers crossed on the condo!

      Hi Paris B.,

I’ve noticed most of the difference in terms of gloss wear. Maybe just keep one around for when you’re in the mood?

I don’t use lip liners very regularly, but if since they’re so creamy I’ll have to give them a chance.

I have wanted to try one of these liners for a while, but can never pick a color! Good luck with the condo – I hope it works out!

And thanks for the MAC heads up – they also have free shipping on all purchases through 7/27 with no code needed. I just ordered one of the sun tints and some empty palettes!

      Hi Tiffany,

LOL, I have the same issue. When there are so many colors to choose from it can be overstimulating for me!

Do you have a more warm or cool skin tone?

What is MAC doing to me? Sigh, I told myself no makeup for awhile but I really really want one of the sun tints because of the spf.

If you ever reschedule your SD trip, you should plan a little makeup addict get together…at least I would be there! =)

i think i’d be down for the peachy pink. blue-toned nudes tend to make my lips look purple, like i’ve been standing out in the montreal winter for a looong time.

right now my favorite nude lipliner is bobbi brown pale pink. it’s not too cool and not too warm, and it looks great layered under a number of nude lip glosses/lipsticks.

i’m so glad i bought a second dior creme de gloss, the sweet praline (sold here as macaron pralinee) – looks great as a nude lippie, and it’s a MLBB

I think I need to find some good lip liners (I would like a more defined line than the few lipsticks I have give), so I will definitely check these out. Christine (from Temptalia) twittered about some clear lipliners that I’ll look into as well . . . these colors are just so pretty! 🙂

      Hi Hyzenthlay,

I’ve used clear lipliners in the past and they’re okay… I like ’em but don’t love ’em. I prefer something that adds either a subtle color or blanks out the lips.

Anyway, as for good lip liners, UD’s are great and so are the MAC Cremesticks.

    Hi Karen,

I don’t really use a lip liner cause of laziness I guess! How/Where on the lips do you put them on?

I do like the nude lip look though and I am thinking of trying the wallflower, I guess there’s no harm in keeping one just in case..

Thanks and hope you have a great weekend!!

      Hi Patti,

I use ’em to either 1.) line the lips or 2.) line and fill in the lips. They add definition and staying power to lip gloss. I take the lip liner and gently run it along the edge of my lip. After lining I use a finger to soften the line. That’s it!

These colors are pretty but I rarely (if ever) wear lipliner. I hate adding extra steps into my routine. I usually only wear lip liner when I’m doing a fierce red lip (Max Factor lip liner in Ms. Right and Jemma Kidd lipstick in Siren–FIERCE on my uber pale skin). I usually reserve my red lip for when I’m performing. Red lips are uber-high maintenance for me.

Good luck on the condo! I hope you get it!

Does anyone remember Angelina Jolie’s earlier years where her lips looked grey most of the time? She used to wear a lipstick by MAC called Folio which as was a grey tinged nude – it always looked like she was dead…anyways, I digress.

I really liked Clinique’s sheer lipliners which they discontinued :(.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days).
