Too Faced Perfect Lips Liner Loves Lips in the Nude

April 28th, 2010 by Karen 29 Comments

As much as I appreciate color options, streamlined makeup straight up moves me. I love efficient products, especially when I haven’t gotten enough sleep. 🙂

My latest streamlined makeup crush? — Perfect Lips Liner by Too Faced ($19). A nude liner with a matte finish, it loves looks that feature natural lips.

Lining and filling with this soft, creamy pencil evens out the natural color of my pucker (my upper lip’s a different color than my lower) and increases the wear time of other lip products like Too Faced Glamour Gloss. Not only does it play well with others, but it wears well by itself for that coveted “no makeup” look.

Never cakey, Perfect Lips lasts for hours on my kisser, and it glides on without feathering, which is cool.

At $19 it’s a little expensive, but I can see myself using the entire pencil down to the nib. It just goes with everything. If you wear nude shades often and/or struggle to locate liners to wear with your favorite gloss or lipstick, then you might want to give ‘er a go. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

    Hi Karen!
I’m NC 40 and have been in the market for a flattering nude forever- do you think this liner leans towards the warm or the cool?

      Hi Shiny,

It’s on the warm side. 🙂

MAC has a few good nude colors too. Dunno if you already know about ’em, but here are a few to check out just in case: Boldly Bare (here’s a swatch, Spice, Subculture and Sublime Culture.

One more thing I need to get in the habit of – using a lipliner. I love the nude shade of this one, Karen!

      Hi Nina,

It’s an extra step, but it makes a huge diff in staying power. This one is fool-proof!

Macys has an F&F sale goin’ on right now … might end up shopping there. Sucks tho that they dont let you use the discount for cosmetics. 😀

      Hi Scientific Housewife,

Nude lip colors are sometimes tricky, but this one hits it on the nose, yah?

I only recently started using lipliner because I didn’t really see the point of them before. I got one with the MAC holiday set and now, I don’t know why I never tried them before! I think they really make a difference when layered under lipstick or/and lip gloss.

      Hi Diana S.,

Totally! It especially helps with gloss. 🙂

What color are you using right now?

Love this. Looks a lot like the chubby lip pencil from Bare Minerals called Brooklyn. That’s my fave pinky-nude right now.

On the topic of lip liners: I love a crisp, red lip but haven’t ever used a liner underneath. Could I use a true nude liner to keep it tight?

      Hi NeenaJ,

Yes, you can! I do that all the time. 🙂

If you’re worried about the nude shade mixing with your red, try a clear lip liner like Benefit D’Finer D’Liner ($20).

Oh, I love this! I’ve been doing the minimal “Me? Make up?” look for the past couple days, and this seems perfect!

Also, a certain boy keeps stealing my coffee and complaining that he now has my lip gloss on… Although that also makes me want to wear bright fuschia lipstick!

      Hi Sarah,

LOL! That’s too funny. 🙂 You need to put on some bright lipstick to teach that boy to not mess with your caffeine. 😉

The pencil looks pretty and I love the shade. It’s a bit expensive but at least the color’s so natural it’ll go with everything and you don’t need to buy more liners.

    Karen you look so pretty!

That looks like a nice liner. The one I always use and have since I was like a teen is Revlon’s Timeliner in nude. I have gone through so many of them. This is a nice new option though!

This lip liner is gorgeous! Look so nice on you. I am definitely going to have to check this out, even though I don’t really wear lip liners. This would be great for the mornings when I am rushing out the door to get my son to school on time. Thanks for sharing!
