Tarte for True Blood Natural Cheek Stain: Y’all Red-y for This?

July 1st, 2011 by Karen 45 Comments

tarte for true blood

Remember the True Blood episode last season when Pam busted out the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil? I turned to El Hub on the couch and was like, “ZOMG! Did you see Pam with her NARS!? AAAHHHH!”

He just stared at me like I’d lost my mind…

Don’t you just love it when you recognize makeup on your favorite TV shows? I wonder if the new Tarte for True Blood Natural Cheek Stain ($30) will make an appearance on TV this year.

It’s an intensely pigmented red gel blush, recently launched with two other pieces in the new limited edition Tarte for True Blood collection, and it’s loaded with golden glitter.

I can see it now, gracing some of True Blood’s malevolent and benevolent characters like…

Lafayette, clad in a see-through mesh top and camo capri pants. He’s getting ready in the bathroom at Merlotte’s for a rollicking night with the wiccans. He applies a single layer directly onto the apples of his cheeks, then blends out the edges with his fingers. The sheer red stain hides on his dark skin, just barely showing through, but the gobs of golden glitter sparkle like vampire fangs in the moonlight.

Or pale, beautiful Jessica, with her everlasting red hair. She’s sprucing up before a dinner date with Hoyt, her human beau (and her favorite meal). On her porcelain skin, the stain looks much more intense than it does on Lafayette, but Jessica isn’t afraid to make a statement with her looks. As a matter of fact, she loves the attention.

Whether the stain was designed with supernatural beings in mind, mere mortals can rock ’em, too. A single layer gives me a deep red flush and enough golden glitter to last a few lifetimes.

Did I mention that it’s sparkly? Very, very sparkly? I loves me some glitter, but dayum — borderline obnoxious, y’all.

I wouldn’t wear it to a formal affair, but definitely to a night of dancing at Fangtasia (hi, is Eric here?). 🙂

Totally… it looked all stringy and was in dire need of conditioning, LOL!

Also, I have to say the V-neck T’s totally increased his stock for me. HELLO!

He looked like a brooding teenager into emo when he didn’t have his hair cut, but yea, I melted everytime he appeared afterwards 😛 Last year when I was in Stockholm, I prayed and prayed to run into him or see him somewhere. No such luck though 🙁

Dude, this isn’t an easy color to wear… it’s really, REALLY red and super glittery. Have you tried applying it on your fingers first and then dabbing it on your cheeks?

I haven’t even opened it yet. But in general, everything always looks amazing on you. Now I’m wondering if I should return it. I’m ok with sparkle, but don’t wanna look 12…

I kind of wanted it until you mentioned the glitter. I don’t mind a bit sparkly, but full on glittery cheeks i just cannot do. 🙁

You could probably try to take it down a notch by applying it on your fingers first and then patting it on your cheeks.

Thanks! It’s a little heavy… but I’ll pay the price for fashion, haha.

Is Missy going crazy? Now that it’s hot outside again Tabs is slowly but surely slipping into crazypants mode around 6 (give or take a half hour or so).

Well, now, that’s kind of a trick question since crazy pants mode is Missy’s natural state!

She’s being quite the drama queen about the heat, all stretched out on the floor, making herself as long as possible. I have to just work around her to get anywhere in the room!

Lovely! I found that with a light touch and/or if you apply with your fingertips, it is not as sparkly. It’s a great blush shade and lip stain.

WHOA, sparkly. I don’t think I can pull off that much bling on my cheeks, haha. However, it looks like it might make a nice lip color (unless it’s too drying for that).

Oooh! I got some cute shots of Tigger with EvRev. I’ll email them to you as soon as I put them on my computer 🙂

I was really worried about how red this would be but it seems to be quite wearable. Although, I should probably keep in mind you have a skin colour where as I am usually mistaken for a vampire.

Who am I kidding, I will still buy it!

I wonder if it’s a case by case basis, because mine barely has any glitter that shows up! Maybe you got the excess glitter from my tube, haha!

Or maybe I just got a dud? Because this one is dry compared to my Dollface and True Love stain. Not complaining though! Worked out in my favor for my oily skin!

Oh I want to get this stain but not sure if it’ll work on my fair 38 year old skin…i look like a vamp as it is (have dark hair). I love how they packaged this stuff though. The pic of the cheek stain looks like it’s oozing with blood. they must’ve worked hard to come up with these items.

I love Eric. I cringe when I see and hear Bill though. Sookie what were you thinking

haha – when I was buying the Trueblood palette, I looked at this and the salesperson helping me literally said, “I can’t sell you that – I would feel guilty.” I just wish it was a little less sparkly!!
