Did Stila Lip Glaze Sing a Solo in this Week’s Episode of Glee?

November 19th, 2009 by Karen 32 Comments

glee-top

Hey, cheerios! Did any of my eagle-eyed makeup geeks/freaks peep the Stila Lip Glaze lookalike in this week’s episode of Glee?

Yesterday’s migraine rendered me mentally useless, so I spent last night on the couch resting and catching up on Glee, the musical dramedy about misfit teens who sing show choir.

It took me a few episodes to warm up to the show — the pacing’s kinda weird — but now I’m hooked. The world needs more spontaneous musical numbers, right? And I’m totes crushing on Mr. Shu, played by Matthew Morrison. 🙂

oh-hai-mr-shu-1

In this week’s ep, Rachel, one of the glee club girls, is primping in the bathroom with a gloss that looks an awfully lot like Stila Lip Glaze.

Hmm…

The clear plastic click-pen tube and telltale brush tip — only the Glee clubbers know for sure, but what do you think? Is that Kitten? 🙂

Meow!

Were you ever in choir? I was a band geek back in school, but I bet I would have liked choir too.

Speaking of entertainment, what are you up to this weekend? I might be going to a Warriors game tomorrow night. Tabs asked me to sneak him into the arena in my purse. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Good eye! I haven’t seen Glee but have heard great things about it…When I’m not swamped with homework, maybe I’ll check it out. 🙂 I too was a band geek – and still am!

I think that’s a badge you carry for life! What instrument did you play?

I haven’t seen Glee yet, but Hubby’s got the TV cabled up to the computer now so I can Hulu to my heart’s content! 🙂

I was in choir from 6th grade all through High School, I loved it!

      Hi Glosslizard,

Oh nice! They don’t have the very first episodes… I had to get “creative” to watch ’em.

I hope you like the show. It’s a lot of fun!

Haha. In middle school it was a choice of chorus, strings, or band for your 6th grade year then if you wanted to, you could do tech and art electives for the rest junior high. I stuck with chorus because 1. I didn’t need to learn any instruments AND 2. there were actually desks so I could do my hw when the “bass” or “altos” were practicing. Haha.

They could be elf but I’m thinking Rachel could be a stila queen. Maybe more fruit punch than kitten, though.

The show definitely grew on me.

Oh I missed Glee this week…darn!! Oh and I totally admit it…I was in show choir all 4 years of high school. It was not pretty. If only I had known more about beauty back then. We had to wear poufy curly hair half up and half down, purple eyeshadow and thick eyeliner, and bright pink lipstick. Let’s not forget the hot pink dresses we wore. On stage we looked fabulous under stage lights, but up close and personal, we were quite a fright! Looking back it was tons of fun and I have so many great memories of bonding with the other choir girls and competing…and actually winning 1st place a few times! =)

I was…AM in choir. I’ve been in a choir since I was six years old. I entered school choir when I entered middle school and there was one. Before that, church choir. Yep, I’m the choir geek.

I did band for a while (played violin!). God, I’d love to go back to violin. But, knowing me, I’d never practice and I have no time for violin, sadly. I’m sure Zena wouldn’t be too pleased with the sound of a violin either. I have a noise wimp for a dog. Bunnies, badgers, moles, groundhogs, squirrels, no problem. The sound of trains, thunder or fireworks, Zena becomes a wimp.

And that is most definitely a stila lipgloss pen. Elf has a different end (and I HATE the smell).

I thought it might be Stila because of the pen style brush, but I could be wrong. I like Mr Shu, he is adorable but just a tad too wholesome for me LOL.

LOL, I dunno. She’s a peculiar dog. She does like Lady Gaga, ironically. I was playing ‘bad romance’ earlier and she was bopping her head to the beat. It was very strange watching her bop her head. And then she fell asleep, LOL. I’m analyzing that music video for my g&s final. It’s the only m.v. I actually like of hers. The others are a bit much for me.

I cheered in high school…and I was also in an automotive club. Drama for one year, too, but that wasn’t worth it because no one took it seriously. We didn’t even put on a play. Lame.

Watching cheerleading-related movies now can sometimes be irksome. The cheerleaders in the movies [usually the actors, not the real ones they bring in for stunts and tumbling] aren’t as tight as they should be and their words run together a bit. If a real squad ever did that, they’d most likely have drill-related punishments waiting for them at the next practice.

Ahh, I love Glee! Artie is absolutely amazing. The character is absolutely adorable and I love his voice. Puck also has a damn good voice, and Mercedes is my favorite of the girls. Of course, Mr. Schuster is super cute.

My high school didn’t have a Glee club, but I was in Madrigals my freshman year. I only did it for one year, though, because it was a bad group of people when it came to both singing talent AND personality. Ick.

After that, I did the school musicals and my own stuff — I was always more into opera than choral music, anyway. I ended up not pursuing it professionally despite doing it in college (I also did physics and politics so I was a busy little bee); it’s a hard ass life, and I’m kind of screwed over by my height. I’m 5’11,” meaning I would be stuck doing pants roles (playing a dude) for my entire career. People tend not to cast a female who is taller than/the same height as her male counterpart.

I’d be fine with playing guys all the time — okay, maybe I’d PREFER not to but I could deal — but the problem is that the vast majority of pants roles are for a different vocal type than mine. Usually, they’re pre-pubescent boys, so they have really light, moderately high voices (a lyric mezzo role). My voice is just too heavy for it (but not too low — I mostly sing soprano roles). Unfortunately for my potential career, a dramatic coloratura is about as far away from a lyric as you can get. I just wouldn’t get cast.

Luckily, when you just take lessons for yourself, you can sing whatever you want! I’m glad I kept music in my life. It’s always fun, and a great release for when I’m stressed. 🙂

This weekend, I pretty much already started! I received an unexpected package, got tickets for a concert for next Tuesday, and watched New Moon! Funny, because my actual weekend would actually be spent working! Oh well, at least I’m making money, right? 😛

Has to be Stila, the ELF ones are smaller like the gloss sets you get at Sephora with 8 of Stila’s small versions of the lipgloss. I could be wrong, but she’d be sporting some seriously petite hands, if that’s an ELF. (sidenote I can’t stand the fake orange taste and smell of those ELF lipgloss)

I’m a Gleek! We love, love, love glee. So funny. I was a band nerd too. 🙂 BTW, the guest star who played Suzy Pepper was driving me crazy, so I checked IMBD and she is also on Mad Men! Kitty Romero….Sal’s wife. crazy, huh?
As for the lipgloss, yup, totally looks like stila. But I would say on Racheal the color looked more pink/darker, maybe coral? Might be starfruit or papya.

As soon as I saw that, my first thought was also Stila lip glaze! In Showmance, I spotted Rachel touching up an with Urban Decay compact at her locker while she was eavesdropping on Quinn & Finn. It looked like De-Slick Mattifying Powder to me, but it could’ve been a colored powder.

I totally did show choir all through high school, which makes this show even funnier for me! Everyone is like “but the singing makes me uncomfortable” and I’m like “Its supposed to!” 🙂 Cracks me up. Love the social commentary, and Jane Lynch’s lines are zingers, every. single. time.
