MAC Cosmetics Cremesheen Product Pictures and Swatches

September 25th, 2008 by Karen 52 Comments

A new kid’s in town, and her name is Cremesheen — MAC Cremesheen. The collection joins two other major MAC releases that arrived on counters nationwide today: Suite Array, and Gold Fever (exclusive to Nordstrom stores).

Say hello to Cremesheen’s 14 new lipstick colors.

“Hi! Hello!”

They’re accompanied by a single nail polish, Seasonal Peach (kinda random, right?). With the Cremesheen collection, MAC introduces a brand new lipstick formulation. Is it any good?

Let’s find out. 🙂

On the lipstick scale, I think these feel creamier and thicker than MAC Lustre lipsticks do. I love lippies, and the Cremesheen lipsticks feel surprisingly light and slick for how thick they are. MAC played it safe, too, as far as flavor, making them both taste- and fragrance- free. They’re easy to apply, deliver full color coverage, and just one coat makes my pucker shine like fine china.

Sadly, Seasonal Peach, the lone nail polish in the Cremesheen collection, was mysteriously MIA at my local MAC counter today, but all 14 of the lipsticks were in the hizz.

Of the 14 Cremesheen colors, On Hold, Party Line and Stay in Touch were my early faves. A couple of the colors looked pretty in the tube but didn’t work well for me (Creme d’Nude and Hot Gossip).

Cremesheen Lipsticks ($14)

  • Creme d’Nude: Pale muted peach beige
  • Ravishing: Clean, lightly peachy coral
  • Speed Dial: Light blue pink
  • Fanfare: Mid-tone yellow pink
  • On Hold: Mid-tone yellow raspberry
  • Speak Louder: Clean poppy blue pink
  • Modesty: Muted neutral pink
  • Hot Gossip: Mid-tone pinky plum
  • Crosswires: Clean pinky orange
  • Stay in Touch: Lightly yellow brown
  • Brave Red: Bright yellow red
  • Dare You: Deep brown red
  • Party Line: Red-tone plum
  • Hang-Up: Deep berry

Nail Lacquer ($10)

  • Seasonal Peach:Creamy pale peachy pink

Brave Red: Bright yellow red

Creme d’Nude: Pale muted peach beige

Crosswires: Clean pinky orange

Dare You: Deep brown red

Fanfare: Mid-tone yellow pink

Hang-Up: Deep berry

Hot Gossip: Mid-tone pinky plum

Modesty: Muted neutral pink

On Hold: Mid-tone yellow raspberry

Party Line: Red-tone plum

Speak Louder: Clean poppy blue pink

Speed Dial: Light blue pink

Stay in Touch: Lightly yellow brown

Ravishing: Clean lightly peachy coral

Suite Array: Don’t Miss the Pearlglide Liners

Suite Array, the other mass market MAC collection released today, features eight eye liners, also in a new formulation (codenamed Pearlglide), along with eight eye shadow duos.

I love the cute, convenient packaging of Suite Array’s duos, but the shadows seem a bit on the sheer side. To me, the real standouts of the collection are the Pearlglide liners. Soft to the touch, with plenty o’ lovely shimmer, they’re pigment rich and long lasting. Definite must-haves if you’re looking for liners.

The third MAC release of the day, glittery Gold Fever, will be exclusive to Nordstrom stores (at least for now). I’ll post some Gold Fever pictures and swatches in a few.

Three cheers for MAC!. 🙂

Hip, hip, *hooray*!

How was your Thursday, cutie?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love the nude in the tube… but it applies pink? I don’t like it so much anymore. Crosswires and Modesty were totally made for me though. ^_^

    Hi Ellery,

I loved it too… and then I put it on and was like, EWWWWWW!

Modesty is very pretty. It would look fab with a rich, dark, smokey eye. Yikes, the cat just took a big bite out of my leg. I guess that means he’s hungry.

Oooohh! These are totally gorge! I can’t wait to check out the new formula. Hang-Up, Dare You, and Party Line are must-haves for me.

I’m looking forward to seeing Seasonal Peach polish- it looks so pretty in the promo photo. Thanks for the photos, Karen!

    Hi Julia,

You’re welcome! I hope you like the formula… they are super pretty and so easy to use.

Dangit, now I’ve gotta hunt down that polish!

    I saw these at the MAC counter today, but I was on a quest for a (nearly non-existent) Dior palette that I ended up buying at Sephora (success!!). Not such a fan of lipsticks though, don’t like the feeling on my lips. XD;

Brave Red looks fantastic on you! I wanna try Hang-up, and Speak Louder was the surprise for me in the bunch, it looks a lot prettier on your lips than it does in the tube! Guess I’m a-headin’ for MAC this weekend!

That really does sound amazing, I’ll have to try it when I get it.

I’ve never heard of a cat doing that before, but when my cats were kittens, they’d climb up my leg (like, seriously, up to my hip!) if I went into the fridge or into their food cupboard!

Dare You and Hang Up look gorgeous on you. I may check this lipstick collection out as it sounds interesting to me. You’re such a busy bee and so dedicated to swatching, especially on the lips. The one and only reason I don’t do much of swatches is my lips can get chapped really easily.

I love your site because you always have tons of swatches. Anyways, I’m not really wowed by these. I love the color of Hot Gossip. I’m on the pale side, so it will probably look different on me than it did on you, so I may have to go to my local MAC counter to check it out. Otherwise, these really aren’t doing much for me, which my wallet is probably happy about 😛

Hi Karen, thanks for the swatches. Definitely much better than looking on MAC’s website. I do have a question though- do you really try on every single one right there and take a picture? I mean, they let you? Because here, I don’t think they’re too happy if I fiddle around too much with stuff. I can’t stand the hawk eye on me.

    Hi Ellery,

You’ll have to tell me what you end up picking up. 🙂

Aww, how many kitties do you have? Do they still try to climb up your leg? Tabs does this thing where he grabs my leg (or arm … whatever appendage is closest) with both of his front paws. He holds it tight, and then takes a big kitty love bite out of it. It sorta pinches, but it never really hurts because he doesn’t bite down too hard. I hope it’s just a phase he’s going through!

I had two, but one disappeared a few months ago and no one’s seen her since. 🙁

I still have Babycake though, she’s just over 1 so she isn’t as playful as she was back then but she still runs all over the place. When I’m sleeping she likes to climb across my face, and I have a fur cushion that she always paws at and whenever I take it away she does her lil angry meow.

Tabs sounds sooo cute. 😀 I’ve always wanted a boy cat but I can’t since mine’s a girl.

Stay in touch is my favorite on you, I think. So would you say these are kinda like a thicker, more coverage lustre? maybe sorta/ I’m just trying to place the formula, lol. I *do* have enough tubes for a back2mac, so maybe I’ll check these out this weekend! I’m wanting a new pinky nude, was thinking of trying both fresh brew and honeyflower.

BTW, I started reading Twighlight yesterday….it’s awesome, I’m sure I will be finished by tomorrow! 🙂

    Hi Ellery,

Oh no… poor thing. I bet she’s partying, or exploring the wide, wide, world. She’ll come back to you soon, hopefully.

Babycake is such a cute name for a cat, and she sounds like she’s got a lot of personality. What does she look like?

Tabs is fun and sweet, but he’s *very* needy. If I don’t give him lovin’ he lets me know it, LOL. I like it though, because it makes me feel useful.

    Hi Ms. Britt,

They seem to have average staying power because they’re so slick. I put some on in the afternoon, and then drank a bunch of water from a glass, and then two hours later it was practically gone. I don’t really mind that though, because they feel nice on the lips.

    Hi Amanda,

SWEET! The movie comes out in November… unfortch for me I won’t be able to catch it on the release day ’cause that’s when I’m flying to Florida for my homegirl’s wedding. Soooo, are you Team Edward or Team Jacob so far?

Regarding Cremesheens, you hit it on the nail. It does feel thicker than lustre and it has more coverage. At the same time though, they feel moisturizing on the lips and they have a nice slickness.

That’s what I keep saying. She always liked staying out late.

http://i34.tinypic.com/doqwdd.png This is Babycake. Her name was originally Jacob until we realized she was a girl, then it was Tinkerbell, then it was Bambi and now I settled on Babycake.

How old is Tabs? I love hearing about other people’s bonds with their cats, lol. Before I got one I used to hate them but I think that’s because I was allergic to them. (I was allergic to dogs too but got one of those, and after a month of non stop sneezing my allergies to all animals has vanished!)

    Hi Ellery,

OMG — Babycake is such a cutie! I love the expression on her face. She looks like one sassy kitty. What kind of personality does she have? Is she clingy, like Tabs, or does she like to do her own thang?

I think Tabs is about two years old. When he first started coming around this time last year he looked really young, and the pads on his paws were very smooth like they are in young cats.

Funny thing: like you, I didn’t really like cats until I met Tabs. I always had animals around when I was younger, but my family only had dogs around since I was 14, so up until now I’ve thought myself more to be a dog person. Tabs has put me on the fast track to becoming a full-fledged Crazy Cat Lady. I see my inevitable destiny, and I can’t seem to do anything to stop it, LOL.

I remember that kind of, was he a stray? All I remember is something about him sitting in your car, haha. He’s fabulous! 😀

I always thought I was a dog person since I’ve wanted a Chihuahua since I was 13, but ever since I got my cats and dog I’ve just preferred the cat. But my dad finally gave in and we’re currently looking for a Pomeranian! (I changed my mind on the chihuahua)
