LipFusion Boudior Collection Lipgloss in Princess Is Giving Lips the Royal Treatment

July 14th, 2010 by Karen 32 Comments

lipfusion boudoir collection swatches review

Before the $29 price of LipFusion Luxe Boudoir Collection lipgloss makes you totally cranky (that’s Chanel territory, yo!), consider this: $1 of that goes to the Seven Bar Foundation, a non-profit group helping to empower underprivileged women to start small businesses through microfinanced loans.

What are microfinanced loans? They’re pretty cool. Read more about the Seven Bar Foundation’s work here.

Truth be told, I’d love to see LipFusion contribute more than $1 from every sale (while lowering or keeping the price the same), but I digress…

The limited edition line contains four shades — Vixen (a shimmery mauve), Lolita (a shimmery pinkish beige), Coquette (a shimmery pinkish coral) and Princess (a shimmery purplish hot pink). Today I tipped my hat to the one called Princess. 🙂

The texture reminds me of Smashbox Limitless Long Wear Lip Glosses. It’s thick (but not sticky) and feels smooth and soft on my lips.

I love heart so many things about this Princess, like her medium pigmentation, light orange flavor and scent, subtle plumping action, four-hour wear time and dazzling shine.

She costs a pretty penny (well, 2,900 of them), but I like that a dollar of that goes to help women in need. I can easily see myself finishing this shimmery tube of sparkly purple goodness in no time. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

So what are you up to tonight? How was your day? I lost track of time and didn’t realize I hadn’t eaten dinner until 8:30! I just finished one of those Whole Foods salads I like, yum. Now I’m watching back episodes of The Shield. Remember that show? Vic is…complicated.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

ooh, that’s a very pretty colour. my lips are quite pigmented, do you think this would show up true to colour or is it too sheer?

      Hi Dani,

You might have to build it up if your lips are uber-pigmented. I bet it would also look gorgeous on top of a hot pink lipstick too!

I like the color for a night out. But only one dollar? They can do better than that.

Only a dollar? Who’s benefiting from this sale…. Regardless though I’d still love to see the rest of the colors. It’s also refreshing to see a citrus scented and flavored gloss since most are on the bakery side of those.

The orange scent was a really nice surprise. I wish more companies did more citrusy scents/flavors.

Wow. This entire look is truly STUNNING on you! You look like a friggen model! As for the Shield…. I remember watching this show, Rescue Me, and Nip/Tuck, because FX and MTVU were the only stations I could get in my dorm room without paying for cable, teehee! But it a good show to get for free!

I am totally hooked on The Shield! It’s too bad every other episode seems to traumatise me in some form. 🙁

I’ve never watched any of the other FX shows — are Rescue Me and Nip/Tuck any good?

Oh, I LOVE it – it’s more sparkly than a disco ball!! Right up my alley! You’re right about the $29 being a little steep for a gloss though, even with the charitable contribution.

The best part about it is it the glitter isn’t gritty at all. It’s surprisingly smooth.

Beautiful, but $29?? The charity angle is nice if you were inclined to buy the gloss anyway, but I’d rather buy a MAC gloss and send the rest to the charity!

sparkly purple goodness! but even with the donation factored in, it is still SUPER pricey. I wonder if there is a cheaper dupe somewhere….I do love the color and finish though.

I’ll let you know if I run into one! I dunno if it’s going to be this smooth though… that’s one of the best parts about this gloss.

The color and high power glitter are pretty awesome but as you pointed out chanel and givenchy have similar effects for around the same price.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
