Lip Look: Crushing on Three Custom Colors Papaya Crush!

“How did you know, ’cause I never told. You found out, I’ve got a crush on you.”

–The Jets, Crush on You

From the second I awoke on this gloomy, overcast morning, the song Crush on You (by The Jets) was stuck in my head. “What did it mean?” I wondered.

Low and behold, after applying my face and eye makeup, what was the first lipgloss to catch my eye? — Three Custom Colors Papaya Crush ($18.50), a sheer, coral-red liploss with just a touch of gold shimmer. Crush indeed.

Papaya Crush is less pigmented than Three Custom Colors’ Dahlia but shares the same thin texture.

In the picture above I’m wearing two coats, which was just enough to achieve a subtle pop of coral color without going over-the-top. If you’re color shy but have been wanting to try a cute coral lipgloss, Papaya Crush should be a good way to get your feet (lips?) wet.

I wear Papaya Crush on low-maintenance makeup days, like on the weekends when I’m running errands or hitting the gym. It delivers just enough color to make it look like I’m wearing something without requiring a lot of effort on my part.

To purchase Papaya Crush or to learn more about the line, click your way over to the Three Custom Color Specialists site.

Happy Tuesday, ya’ll! Last night I ended up flaking out on my dance class because I just needed to chill and recharge my batteries at home. I ended up watching — brace yourself — Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith on TV and eating a frozen pizza, and it was just what I needed. Hope you’re having a good day so far. Any big plans?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oooh… I like this…but again I’m not sure I could pull it off… orangey colors are not normally my thing so I have to find the right color to go with coral… and now I’ve got that song in my head. :-)the other day I got that one in my head… Girlfriend… How could you let him treat ya so bad, oh Girlfriend You know you were the best he ever had, oh, oh, oh …To believe
Or not to believe…That is the question…You’ve lied your last lie
And I’ve cried my last cry…I’m out the door, babe…There’s other fish in the sea…

It stuck with me the entire day.

    Hi Megan,

LOLOLOLZ, I love that song! It’s by Pebbles. I am so a teenager of the 80s (sigh). I saw an episode of MTV’s My Sweet 16 (don’t ask me why I was watching, I honestly don’t know) and the kid having the party was Pebble’s son! Holy crap!

She also sings “Mercedes Boy” (do ya want a ride in my Mercedes boy? tell me what your gonna do, with me, with me, with me with me…)

I love the way coral looks on you and since we’re pretty similar in skintone and color, I’ve been trying to find a good coral gloss. Sockhop looks awful on me, makes me look washed out. This might do the trick…

LOL… I remember that song. So for some reason when you brought that up I automatically flashed to the video of pink cadillac in my mind. I loved that video…I thought it looked so cool where they were like dancing at the gas station! LOL

OH YAH! I think that’s Natalie Cole? Speaking of car songs, I always thought Billy Ocean’s “Get into my car” was kinda creepy (lyrics wise). I think there’s a gas station dance scene in that video too.

Dang! It’s been so long since I’ve actually watched videos on MTV!

LOL… I never really thought about it…but I guess so… Get out of my dreams… get into my car…LOL like he’s forcing you into the car huh? I have to admit I was a little creeped out by Hall and Oates Maneater…LOL in my little mind at the time it didn’t make sense and was scary…

You’ll totally laugh, but I loooooooove Hall & Oates. I have a bunch of their CDs (I Can’t Go For That is one of my fave songs of all time). But yah, now that I think about it Maneater is pretty scary!

At least you knew the words to “Smooth Operator!” For years I thought she was singing “Ohhhh Barber-ator…. she’s an ooooh… barber-ator!!!” HA HA HA.

For years I also thought “More than a woman, more than a woman to meee” by the Bee Gees was “Bald headed woman, bald headed woman to me.”

    oh that’s pretty! I love coral. 🙂

I LOVE star wars! I saw that a cable channel (spike?) was showing all 3 of the new ones in order. I just watched (actually rented) ep III recently since I had seen it in the theater, but wanted to watch it again. In fact I’ve seen ALL the star wars movies multiple times. 🙂 glad you are recharged! we are grilling hamburgers tonight-I can’t wait. and I’ll watch American Idol, this is the first year I’ve ever “watched” it and I’m sucked in!

    Hi Amanda,

Me too! What are your fave corals?

LOL, yup, we tivo’d the movie from the Spike network on cable. I am a not-so-closeted sci-fi nerd, and sadly I haven’t really paid that much attention to the Star Wars movies (I know!). I watched ’em in the 80s when I was kid but I don’t really remember them. I think I want to watch them now because Revenge of the Sith was actually a really great film. El Hub had to fill me in on some of the details but I could basically follow the story along; it was really sad to see the transformation from Anakin to Darth Vadar (I’ve been thinking about it all day… how people change and transform and the reasons behind it, etc. etc.).

How long have you been a Star Wars fan? Last night I told El Hub that I wanted some Wookies for friends (do they have a special grooming needs? like different brushes? do they have to use conditioner? would they let me braid their hair/fur?). I’d also like a few good Tuesday afternoons spent kickin’ it with Yoda (“Tuesdays with Yoda”, LOL! I’d so buy that book).

Sounds like you’re going to have a fun, relaxing evening! Enjoy your dinner and American Idol!

LOL K… too funny. I think my mom had a hall and oates tape back in the day. I remember maneater and private eyes mostly.

Speaking of misheard lyrics. Do you know the Black Crowes song Hard to handle? There’s a part where it goes hey little thing let me light your candle cause mama I’m so hard to handle now yes i am. Well it’s kinda fast and I undersood it up to a point, but then I the the hard to handle part was saying “the henna nah get’s around” (it makes more sense ifyou listen to the song than in writing now that i think about it) one of my friends teased me about that one.

That gloss is very pretty, I have got to check out the 3C glosses! Maybe this weekend, I’m going to SF with Hubby! I still wanna look at Dahlia though, I am going to ride the bright lips trend while it lasts!

I don’t have that many corals, but I do like the ones I have-mac see sheer and stila micheala. I’m not sure I have coral gloss…hmm.

Ok-star wars-I didn’t see the first two until they were out on VHS (sounds so old school!) but I did see Return of the Jedi in the theatre with my parents and brother….and having an older brother (and living in a small town!) I tagged along and played with him and his friends, and we played “star wars”, LOL. Han Solo was my first hollywood crush, I *so* wanted to marry him. I think I was 5 when all this started…. 🙂 Good choices on the wookies and Yoda-they are my favorite alien characters too. And funny story from college-college was when they “re-released” the original movies in the theatre, and hence they did a lot of promo stuff. Somehow I ended up with a life size C3-PO cardboard cutout, and he lived in our living room for years.

    LOL Megan,

So right after I read this I had to listen to “Hard to Handle”. I have it on my iTunes and so I’m listening and listening and when I get to that part you wrote about I swear I can hear him saying “the henna nah gets around.” I laughed for like five minutes. Now whenever I hear this song I’ll hear that…

Glosslizard! How jealous am I that you rocked out to Hall & Oates live! Seriously! Are they still alive?

You could totally rock the Dahlia, girl. I haven’t taken it out in a few weeks, I should give it some love, LOL.

    Hi Amanda,

LOL, how jealous am I of your C3-PO cutout! How awesome is that. For some reason I am pretty sure El Hub would so be down with that as decor (he just confessed to going through a phase with his best friend where they both spoke like Yoda, OMG!). That’s so cute you had a thing for Han Solo, aww! My first Hollywood crush was Davy Jones from the Monkeys, LOLOLOL. I would watch the show when I hung out at PeeChee’s house (she comments here once in a while, we go waaaay back).

Anyway, I bet that when you played Star Wars with your bro and his friends you got stuck with being Princess Lea! I hope they gave you your own lightsaber, girlfriend. Those things are pretty cool.

I am thinking of renting the OG triology this weekend!

I’m pretty sure they’re still alive and kickin’, I saw them back in the early 90’s though!

Hah! I am so saturated with lipsticks and glosses that I love right now! It’s just not fair, every morning I want to wear three different things (Strawbaby, Gazelle and Style Minx are all calling me)! I’m almost afraid to get any more lippies right now!

P.S. I swooned over Indiana Jones! Yes, I’m lookin’ forward to this summer! 😉
