Lip Look: Three Custom Color Specialists Dahlia Gloss

I’ve still got the fever!

Pink fever continues with Three Custom Color Specialists Dahlia Gloss. How do I love this blue based hot pink gloss?? Let me count the ways.

Color: Blue based tones work well with my coloring, and I love this pink’s vivid brightness. The glitter-free shade is highly pigmented and looks very, very, very pink on my lips… and I like it! It’s definitely not for the pink shy.

Product: Three Custom Color Specialists Dahlia Gloss
Price: $18.50
Use: As a lipgloss
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Shine: Typically, lipgloss formulas radiate a high shine when applied. Unlike MAC Lipglass’ high shine formulas, Three Custom Color Specialists Gloss has a subdued shine that’s less reflective than usual for a lipgloss, resulting in a finish more like a lipstick than a gloss.

I like its subtle shine because of how suitable it is for day wear. And if I want a sassier look for evenings out, I’ll just add a layer of MAC Clear Lipglass and then bam! Ready for a night out at the club with the girls.

Texture: As much as I loves me some gloss, I can’t stand it when my hair sticks to my lips. That doesn’t happen with Dahlia. It’s nonstick, light and long-lasting.

I’m really impressed with this gloss and intend to snag a few more shades. The Three Custom Color Specialists Web site breaks down the gloss colors into three families — warm, cool and neutral — to help you find the right shade. You can purchase your gloss online or from a store near you .

Ya’ll gotta bear with me as I work through this pink lip phase… Maybe one of these days I’ll be healed!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Love it!! I’ve never heard of that brand before, but from the website it looks promising, especially the Ski Bunny Lip & Cheek Stain. I’ll have to check it out in person whenever I’m near a store. I too have been infected by a bad case of pink fever. Newest love: Lancome’s Color Fever Gloss in Volcanic Pink. Only test it if you are willing to shell out the cash for a tube because you won’t be able to resist.

P.S. You better hook us up with some pics of the Pixel Pink lipstick when you get it because I don’t live near a boutique. The girl at the Lancome counter at Nordy’s hadn’t even heard of it! Shame.

    Hey Glosslizard,

It is gloss totally worthy of a road trip. It’s amazingly lost lasting – I wore it today to work and it lasted through two bottles of water, six veggie buffalo wings and a few Life Savors Gummies.

Yup, and you can easily turn it up if you want with a layer of clear Lipglass on top! 🙂

    Hi Arwin,

It’s a US brand from a relatively new line. You might want to double check their shipping policies on their web site if you are itching to pick up a tube. 🙂

Tell me about it! My new addictions include MAC paint pots and Shu Uemura eye pencils and shadows (I wanna fill that palette!)… add that to my old obsessions (Chanel glossimers, skin care and the eternal search for the perfect fragrance du jour) and you’ve got a recipe for a broke beauty addict!! 🙂

Girlfriend, I know. I am back on the Laura Mercier train and I fear it’s gonna be dangerous. I also fear I getting obsessed with Shu nail polish, which is totally weird, because I’m not really a nails kinda girl. But hey…I figure it’s no use fighting it. Might as well go with it and see what transpires!

I haven’t been too adventurous with pink lips on myself, but I sure like it on you. I may have to try it out now.

I love all your pink lippies for the season – very inspiring!

Hi Karen. I’ve been a silent reader for the longest time! I can’t help but speak up on how hot this gloss is. I want! I think I may just have pink fever myself. Time to put away the nude gloss… 🙂

    Hi Michelin,

That’s great! I hope you take a chance on pink…who knows, maybe you’ll fall in love?

Dunno if you’re a MAC fan, but another pink that I like is Nymphette, a soft pink with gold sparkles. It’s subtle and closer to a nude/pink, but very pretty, especially for day!

    Hi Lilan,

Thanks girl. Yeah, Seashell is a winner, too. It’s a little thicker than Dahlia and not as pigmented but I am fo’ sho’ rocking it at the beach.

    Hi Saturina,

Isn’t it super pretty! I don’t think it’s available at sephora. Check the “from a store near you” in the paragraph right after the lip picture, and you’ll find a listing of stores all over the US that carry Three Custom Color Specialists products. 🙂

Good luck with the polish, I’m sure it’ll be fun!

Oh, and it occurred to me late last night that, maybe I was dreaming, but I’m pretty sure I saw a 3C counter at the Union Square Macy’s of all places! I remember looking it over, but, being utterly unfamiliar with the brand, I didn’t get anything. I may head over to confirm my sighting on Friday!

I love my drugstore lipgloss. My go to gloss is Almay Ideal Lipgloss in Bronze Shimmer. The colour is so flattering, good texture, and perfect amount of shimmer. But I seriously need to get my hands on this Dahlia gloss though.

    Hi Glosslizard,

Oh, rad! I They’ve changed a few things in their inventory (BRING BACK BIOTHERM!) so I hope they have a counter there. Then I could indulge in Gloss to my heart’s content. *LE SIGH*

    Hi Arianne,

I love my drugstore lipgloss too. Sally Hansen makes a good one, if you can get over it’s sweet vanilla smell (eek). I’ll check out your Almay shade when I hit Long’s this afternoon.

And I thoroughly support your Dahlia Gloss mission!

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
