Here I’m wearing makeup from the Smashbox Masquerade Collection for fall 2010: The Eye Palette in Masquerade on my eyes, Creamy Cheek Color & Brush in Intrigue on my Cheeks and Masquerade Lip Enhancing Gloss in Reveal on my lips.
Friends, citizens, insomniacs, lend me your eyes; I come to bury complicated eye looks, not to praise them. 🙂 Put down that Sleepytime Tea for a second, Caesar, and take a look at the new Smashbox Masquerade Eye Palette ($35) — enemy of complicated eye looks everywhere!
You don’t have to be an aeronautical engineer to put together fly looks with this palette of nine powder shadows in neutral and jewel-toned shades. In it, Smashbox cleverly placed complementary colors in three horizontal rows, basically taking the guesswork out of color matching. It’s a breakthrough of epic proportions, yo! — particularly for lazy chicks and insomniacs (oh, hai!) like me.
After three consecutive nights of absolutely no sleep, I really, REALLY appreciate how easy it is to get ready with this palette.
Of course, if you’re the kind of girl who gets plenty of sleep and prefers to match her own colors, no problem. I think all nine of these shades work together well, and nothing says we have to use them in any specific order.
I used the shades in the second row (the shimmery khaki, gold and bronze) for my makeup today, adding a bit of the shimmery dark blue from the third row for smokiness. To complete the look, I dipped back into the Masquerade collection again, pulling out the Creamy Cheek Color & Brush in Intrigue and Lip Enhancing Gloss in Reveal.
The Masquerade Eye Palette is one of seven items in the Smashbox Masquerade Collection for fall 2010
Swatches of first row on NC35 skin
Second row
Third row
Smashbox heaped pigment into these shadows and conjured up an easy-to-blend texture that both newbies and full-blown eyeshadow addicts should love. By far, this is my favorite product from the Masquerade collection and a standout piece for fall. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

I hope you do. 🙂 It’s a great palette.
Ohh, the blue, plum and green colours look very lovely. By looking at your swatches the eyeshadows look very smooth and pigmented. Very nice.

Sweet! I hope the colors work for you.
You had me at insomniacs. I’m so slow with makeup – this looks perfect for me! Oh Sephora, taking away my income one pretty palette at a time…
GURL, are you having trubs sleeping too? Welcome to my world. 🙂
Oh my Lord, I was so sleep deprived I put the wrong zip code on the order for my special light-blocking eye mask. I then got progressively angrier and sleepier as days passed without its arrival. Until, of course, the completely sweet customer service person unearthed that joy.
Short answer: yes.
I TOTALLY FEEL YOUR SLEEP-DEPRIVED PAIN! 🙁
Why must eyeshadows tempt me so? I want that palette … Le sigh!
I think it’s because they’re like little mini works of art. 🙂
They totally are! I am totes in love with that palette …
Oh im going birthday gift shopping next week where theres a Sephora LOL!
Wow, these are rich! They look awesome on you.

Thanks! I can’t remember — do you do blues and greens?
I am comfortable with yellow-greens and blue-purples. The only real blue I have is a matte navy that shows up kind of grey on me unless I build it up a lot.

Isn’t that funny how colors can change on you? So many black shades turn blue on me…
What are you up to tonight? We’re ordering Thai food and renting a movie.
Sounds like a nice night in! Mark has to work tomorrow so we had asparagus and leftover rotisserie chicken and we’ll be going to bed soon. But first I’m about to cut into a baked s’mores cookie bar thing that I whipped up when I got home!

S’mores… NOM! 🙂
Well, the movie we rented turned out to be a complete dud. It was Sherlock Holmes … I made it through about 15 minutes before completely checking out. Then again I’m not a big Guy Ritchie fan.
Anywho, have a good Saturday!
This looks amazing on you! AND another one I’m eyeing from Fall. Fall is going to make me broke 😛

There’s lots of stuff to love for fall! 🙂 What’s on the top of your list?
Oh why must eye shadow palettes always tempt me so?? Also I’d like to point out how incredibly photogenic you are!

Hey Sarah,
Eyeshadow palettes are my soft spot too… and when they have a good mix of shades like this it’s so on!
What a beautiful palette! The colors really scream “fall” to me.
Yes they do. I think Smashbox nailed this!
It’s finally the weekend, WOOT! What are you up to?
thats GORGEOUS!! so pretty!!! lol its nice of them to make it so simple, especially because i do my makeup early in the morning so i can hardly see what im doing…

Ha! You and me both. I’m not usually coordinated enough for anything too complicated before 10.
lol for me its about noon… unfortunately, school has me playing lacrosse at nine…

LOL, I wish I was playing lacrosse at 9…
Are you still in high school?
Ok so I tried that blush today. Not that into it. It’s too subtle for me, and the brush is so scratchy/non-soft! I think I might return it and get the highlighter.
Isn’t that brush DUMB? It doesn’t do squat.
i LOVE this look on you!
Thanks, Jess. 🙂
Have a good weekend!
Gorgeous palette! I’m still wanting the Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia palette though. These colors look so good on you. I love that blue color! Thanks for sharing!

Both are great palettes. I guess it really depends on what you want more — are you looking for cooler toned colors, or warmer ones?
This is a great look on you! I really like this palette. <3

How’s your Saturday going? Doing anything fun?
Hmm…. this palette is eerily similar to one that mark came out with last year. I’m sure the pigmentation is better with this one, but it looks almost identical.
Hi Kylie,
I’m not familiar with that mark palette but that’s good to know, just in case a few of the gals here already have it. 🙂
This is a palette I have been lemming for since I 1st saw it. Cute little palette and so versatile!

Love this look! You should name is Soft -N- Smokey 🙂 I love that it looks like it can create all different types of looks!
Well, once again Karen you’ve convinced me to get out of my Stila habit and try something new! I mostly wear browns and stuff, so this will be a fun departure! I can’t wait to try it.
