I’m Drawn to the New Dior Diorshow Art Pen

Dior Diorshow Art Pen in Catwalk Black
Wearing the new Diorshow Art Pen in Catwalk Black ($30), coming March to Dior counters and Dior.com

I guess you could spend the entire eight hours that Dior’s new quick-drying, long-wearing Diorshow Art Pen ($30) lasts on lids stomping on catwalks and smiling with your eyes. 🙂

Or, you could spend that same amount of time…

  • Watching the last three episodes of Homeland, Season 2, while wondering whether it’s too late and/or unrealistic to consider a career as a television writer (I’d love to work on something like 30 Rock).
  • Finishing four loads of laundry and shaking your fists in fury after you find your very furry, very misbehaved cat rolling around on top of a freshly washed load of light-colored laundry like it’s his job.
  • Writing several long lists, like “Things to do before my birthday,” “Where I want to be in 5 years,” and “Ways to make the world a better place.”
  • Watching the entire Super Bowl from start to finish, and then having a “Hallelujah!” moment when you realize that you were actually able to follow what was going on, thanks to your husband’s patient football tutelage.
  • Watching the Puppy Bowl, while mumbling about how cats always seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to prime-time TV coverage…
  • Coming close to tears TWICE during the commercial breaks (the Clydesdale horse one and the gorgeous imagery in “God Made a Farmer”)… Freakin’ PMS!!

I really like this liner. It’s available in a single shade, Catwalk Black, a rich, true black without any blue tones that dries quickly to a high-gloss finish. One swipe delivers intense pigment, so I can quickly line my eyes without having to keep adding layers.

The felt tip feels thin, flexible and lays down crisp lines with precision.

And even though the liner clings to my lids all day long, it slips off easily with regular ol’ cleanser and water when it comes time to remove.

At $30, it’s not a budget bargain, but Dior did the execution flawlessly. Great for both experienced cat eyeliners and newbies alike. 🙂

PRICE: $30
AVAILABILITY: Coming March to Dior counters, Saks Fifth Avenue stores and online to dior.com

This sounds like a great product but $30 is still a bit too much for a liner. There are even some great high end liners that are cheaper than this.

I guess it really depends on your price range. I know it’s pricey, but I think it’s pretty darn perfect.

You can try drawing the wings out first with an angle brush. I find that really helps to get both the length and the angle. Here’s a tutorial with a easy cat eye in case you’re interested:

I’m so bad with liquid liners, but this one looks like the kind that I could maybe handle! For that price though I’ll probably just stick with my all-time favorite eyeliners, UD 24/7 pencils <3

    Hi Jay,

This one’s REALLY easy. Another alternative is LORAC’s Front of the Line Pro!

I love these kind of pen-like liners with those felt tips. I’m really curious how long the pencil itself lasts because some tend to dry up after a while. But it sounds great! I wonder if it can beat my love for the Stila version :).

      Hi Teri,

If you like flexible pen tips then you might also like LORAC’s Front of the Line Pro. It’s one of my go-tos for cat eyes.

      Happy Monday!

Amazing cat eye, Karen! Question: is the consistency like a really “liquid-y” liquid liner? As in, it should only be used for upper lid?

      Thanks, Nicole!

It’s got a bit of thickness to it, so it doesn’t seem to creep into line if that’s what your’re wondering. You can use it along the lower lash line and it looks just as crisp. 🙂

I also teared up at the Clydesdale commercial because I used to train horses for a living before college and work took over. Reminded me of horses I trained and one horse I rode as a kid was actually trained for Budweiser. He has done everything from Special Olympics to drill team to being my horse camp horse, and now in retirement he is babysitting baby racehorses. Btw, the eyeliner looks pretty cool, I haven’t worked with a lot of eyeliner pens.

Oh yay, good to know this one stays put for 8 hours! I’m better at using a felt tip pen than a little brush.

I bought Front of the Line on your rec (of course!) and really like it. I don’t wear a cat eye often – and my boys are always kind of freaked out when I do – but even I find it super-easy to use. 🙂

      Hey Kim,

That’s adorable how the boys notice your cat eye makeup. When I dyed my hair pink last year it took El Hub a week to even realize that I did something to my hair!

So, this liner. Believe it or not the finish might even be glossier than Front of the Line! If your cat eye needs extra splash you know where to go. (All roads lead to Dior, LOL).

Hope things are going well out your way.

The boys aren’t used to seeing the flick at the corners – they said I looked like a cat. I thought that was a good sign. HAHA!

The Hubs doesn’t notice when I have a head of spinach in my front teeth, so I’m with you on the menfolk not always being the most observant. 🙂

This week is much better so far. I hope it’s the same for you!!

GAH! I have used the Diorliner – the tiny brush version of the above – for YEARS. Do we think they’re discontinuing it in favor of this felt-tip one? I hate felt tips. *CRIES*

But I suppose I may have to give this one a go….

Your FOTD looks amazing! and with the beret- tres chic! Do you have the Estee Lauder liner pen they came out with recently? I wonder how it would compare? that one was a marker style pen, as well.

The Clydesdale made me a little misty too!

I don’t wear black liner enough to invest in another felt-tip at this point, but that one looks niiiice. (I usually stick to dark brown – I’m BB Porcelain and black can be a little much for daytime.)
