Did Smashbox Put Their Limitless Liquid Liner Pen on a High-Sodium Diet?

March 3rd, 2011 by Karen 47 Comments

What’s the secret to the Smashbox Waterproof Limitless Liquid Liner Pen’s ($22) water repelling powers? Could it be the seasoning perhaps?

Unless I missed the makeup challenge on Top Chef this season, the inclusion of sea salt in the formula must have been a Smashbox idea. Does it help the product work? I’m not sure, but I do see that the company’s Limitless Eye Liner and their bestselling Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner are 100% sea salt-free.

Even if the spice is purely cosmetic (weird!), this bad boy repels water and sweat like a champ. The other day I drew the Black shade along my upper lash line before hopping on the treadmill, and roughly one bucket of perspiration later, it still looked good with nary a smudge.

“Create looks from softly subtle to gorgeously glam with this long wearing liquid liner pen. Unlike other liners, the precision tip pen provides smooth and controlled application every time.”

Fans of MAC’s Penultimate Liner might like the firm felt tip, which is stiff to the touch, but I have a hard time drawing clean, crisp lines with it. I prefer the more flexible tip of liners like LORAC Front of the Liner Pro.

If you’re a fan of liquid liners with a stiff felt tip, and you need heavy duty waterproofing power, Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner might be your next eyeliner crush. Oh, I almost forgot — it’s also cruelty-free. 🙂

srsly though … i guess im a gel liner/ pencil liner kinda gal. im most comfortable lining my eyes w/ those.

i have small eyes and so i rarely do winged liner. i mostly keep to the shape of my upper lash line. 🙂

I’ve got this one, but dislike the tip- it was too firm and too hard on my lids :\ So the results weren’t that nice for me. I prefer Japanese-style pen liquid eyeliners 🙂

I have the blue Stila one and it is wonderful! A little pricey, but the line came out precise, the color is strong and the tip was not too tough, but firm enough to make a great wing.

Not very keen on the stiff tip at all – some give makes it much easier to line the eyes. Do need to invest in some good felt tip style waterproof liners now that summer’s creeping ever so slowly around. Not that you’d know judging by today’s weather!

You should try LORAC’s Front of the Line Pro. It’s seriously the BEST one out there right now.

I think I’d prefer to have sea salt in my snacks, rather than my eyes. I’m also giving a thumbs down to anything with a hard or scratchy tip. My goodness – I’m just a bundle of joy this afternoon, aren’t I? 🙂 I guess it’s a good thing that it’s almost Friday!

I hear you! My evening consisted of a treadclimber and a Caps hockey game on TV. It’s slightly amusing because sometimes I get too interested in the game and accidentally step off the treads and have to fumble to recover. 🙂

GIRL, if I had a dollar for all the times I almost fell off a stair climber or treadmill because I wasn’t paying attention I’d be a rich woman!

There’s a Revlon Colorstay felt-tip eyeliner that has easier application and better staying power than the LORAC one, and the brown/black color is a perfect deep coffee brown. At about $9, it’s a winner over all the others!

I’m too in love with pencil liners. I don’t know why but despite having a few Superslick Liquid liners I’m still reaching for pencils. The smudgy, soft texture is so much easier to work with.

Yeah I’ve tried this liner fr Smashbox…it’s been one of my favorites for awhile. I’ve also tried Stila & Lorac’s, those are v nice as well. I think I like the Smashie liner a lil morecuz it has a slight “glossy” finish, if you like that kinda look. 🙂

I haven’t tried a pen liner. I don’t think they would be as forgiving as pencils and gels, so I’ll stick to those. No time to remove eye makeup to fix messes in the morning. 😉

I think I’ll be passing on this one. I already am not the smoothest with Front of the Line Pro, which I can only use when I know I have serious time to spend on my eye makeup, lol. I have to apply it really slowly to avoid getting liquid liner all over me!

Speaking of Top Chef, wasn’t the outcome of last night’s episode nice? I would’ve been so heartbroken if Carla had to go home!

Sea Salt is a great ingredient to use on Oily Skin, it helps to absorb oil, so I am assuming that is why it is in the eyeliner. That way, any sweat will be absorbed and not smudge? Maybe!? XO

My eyelids are really greasy, and I have Hungarian eyes so my crease is really undefined. Liquid liners ALWAYS transfer up past my crease no matter how hard I prime and powder. Do you think that would solve this problem or should I just give up?

I loved this thing until it dried out on me a couple weeks ago. ): It was amazingly jet black and stayed on even after an 8-mile run (with core too!!) I mean, I totally loved this. Anyone know why it could’ve dried up?
