Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss: When Literature and Lipgloss Collide

Please note that if The Hunger Games movie ends up being a dud, you will find me holding a pitchfork and torch and leading an angry mob in the movie theater parking lot.

(I just got tickets for Friday’s midnight show!)

I can still remember when the only people talking about this series were 12 years old. Wait — except for me. 🙂 Young adult science fiction with a bad@ss heroine? Totally my thing.

I’ll be rocking the China Glaze Capitol Colours to the show, of course, but I haven’t decided on the rest of my makeup for the night. Maybe just a simple, Cinna-inspired gold liner along my upper lash line (LOVE YOU, CINNA!).

For my lips? Hmm… I’d love to make a statement, but for this, the purple pout I wore for the Sex and the City midnight show doesn’t feel quite right.

And I see myself having more in common with the residents of the Seam than the green-skinned, gold-tattooed girls of the Capitol. Purple lips don’t exactly scream “District 12.”

No. I should go bare, or almost bare. Maybe with something sheer and shiny, like one of the 10 new Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipglosses ($18 each).

I like how the colors in this line of lightly mint-flavored and scented long-wearing glosses have such powerful names. They remind me of many of my favorite Hunger Games characters, like Risk Taker (a chocolate shimmer), Trail Blazer (a nude gold) and Maverick (a rosewood shimmer) to describe Katniss. Smooth Talker (a golden pink) — now that could describe Peeta; and Rebel (a pink mauve) — perhaps Gale?

Gotta love any collision of literature and lipgloss, even when they’re (probably) unintentional.

Here’s a closer look at four of the 10 shades, all of which lightly tingle and are supposed to have a subtle plumping effect. Per usual, I don’t really see a difference in the size of my lips with ’em on, but I rarely do with products that allegedly plump.

At least I know these glosses will shine through the movie. I’ve been getting about four hours from them, and they should withstand a big bucket of popcorn (I know this because I wore Spark Plug to see 21 Jump Street last Friday).

I like the thick, sticky texture of these and also dig the angled applicator tip, which kind of molds to the contours of my lips. Another thing I like? These are moisturizing enough that I don’t feel like I need to start with a layer of lip balm underneath.

All told, I’m impressed. Good job, bareMinerals. One might even say Marvelous. 🙂

PRICE: $18 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Sephora stores and also online

P.S. I hope your Monday went off without a hitch. No complaints out here. Well, except for Tabs… He was pretty salty about that thing this morning with the closet. Sucks when you can’t open doors.

You look gorgeous. I never really owned anything from Bare Escentuals until I picked up the Buxom Insider Eyeliner in Black Jasper. I hope Buxom counts as Bare Escentuals 🙂 Now that eyeliner is the bees knees. It’s a beautiful greyish black and actually lasts on my waterline.

I’ll definitely be looking for these lip glosses the next time I travel 🙂

Pretty colors! Show Off and Risk Taker are my favorites.

I have high hopes for the Hunger Games movie. I’m going with a group of people after work on Friday to see it. I know the book to movie transition can be difficult, so I’m keeping an open mind. I haven’t been this excited about a movie in a long time. 🙂

Hungergames!! I’m gonna see it this wednesday, so excited!! (I don’t wanna brag, but my country is one of the first four countries where you can see the movie the 21st, before all other countries can!)

Lloyd is looking fab! I’m trying to keep my expectations low for HG or I know I’ll be right next to you with the torch and pitchfork! 🙂 I’m thinking my look will be an homage to Katniss in the arena. You know, sort of the messy, end of the day look. In comfortable clothes and shoes. HAHA!

    Hmm I’m liking Party Starter!

Can’t wait for Hunger Games either, but I’ll be SO busy running all over the place this week that I probably won’t get to see it till Sunday. Can’t decide what to wear yet either, but yeah, some gold liner is a great idea!

I had a quick question. My favorite lipstick in the entire world (Josie Maran Argan Oil Lipstick in Birthday Suit) has run out. It was the perfect shade and felt amazing on my lips. The problem: I cant find it anywhere. Not their website, not sephora, qvc, amazon, I even tried ebay out of desperation (although I’m not sure I’d buy lipstick from there). Do you have any suggestions on where to find it? I’ve tried contacting their company but I haven’t heard back.

I know I should try a different lipstick, but I cant find that “perfect” one. And let me tell you I have my fair share of lipsticks… I cleaned my purse out last week and had 21 lipsticks/glosses/liners in there alone. That doesn’t include what’s in my makeup drawer, other purses, desk, around the house, etc!

Thanks in advance for any input!!
