I’m not sure when or why it happened, but somewhere along the way, someone out there decided that it was quite the faux pas to appear overly color coordinated.
Seriously, what’s up with that? — because I think it’s actually harder and MORE exhausting (at least for me) to try to avoid looking too matchy-matchy/color coordinated than it is to just go ahead and match.
And, truth be told, I like wearing things that match because it gives me one less thing to think about. I’ll take color coordination over chaos any old day, like matching shoes and bags, cats and nail polishes, foods and eyeshadows…
Okay, that last one was a little weird. 🙂
But it’s true! Right now I’m actually contemplating sneaking off to Baskin-Robbins to get a scoop of their green pistachio ice cream to go with the green shadows I’m wearing on my lids, thanks to Lancôme’s Color Design Eye Palette in Vert Tendresse ($49), one of the brand’s new eye palettes for spring.
The five-color palette recently launched with La Roseraie Illuminating Smooth Powder and Color Fever Gloss in Green Petal in the 11-piece Roseraie des Delices collection.
With four shadows and a powder liner in shades of warm mint and forest green, Vert Tendresse feels lush and verdant to me, like Dior’s 5 Couleurs Garden Pastels Eyeshadow Palette on Miracle-Gro, and I’ve been wearing it lately whenever I’ve felt like wearing something fresh and shimmery in traditional spring shades.
I also love the dark powder liner Lancôme included here. It’s a grayish glittery green with a tough girl edge, and if Lancôme ever decides to release it as a pencil, I’ll be all over that.
Should you decide to take this palette for a turn, consider keeping an eye makeup remover nearby, because as much as I love these dreamy shades, I don’t love the fallout I see when I wear ’em. In fact, this morning, I had to use two cotton rounds soaked with NARS Makeup Removing Water to pick up all of the powder that ended up on my cheeks and beneath my eyes.
Seems like a lot of cleanup for a $49 palette, even one with shades as springy, shimmery and fun as these.

You make my dreams come true
OOH! Did you see Monday’s episode of The Voice? Do you remember hearing this song?
I love how the judges on the show rib each other. They all seem like really good sports.
In other news, I think I have a crush on Blake…but I don’t know about Cee-Lo. Dude is hella pervy. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I like the look of this one because I love greens and this is very reminiscent of Japanese style shadows with their gradient colour. I am a wee bit puzzled though. Vert Tendresse for us comes in a quad in the new Spring collection and doesn’t look like this. If you don’t mind me linking out, the green quad in these pictures (link) were labelled Vert Tendresse. I wonder if there are different palettes bearing the same name by Lancome. How odd if so! Thanks for sharing and I’m keeping my eye out for this one 🙂
Karen says
Interesting. Well, the one here in the US has five shades and includes a liner (if you go up to the link in the availability section it should take you right to it on the Lancome website). It looks like the quad released in your neck of the woods is missing the lightest highlight shade and the liner. They’re both still really pretty…

Thanks Karen 🙂 It would seem that the green one you’ve featured is instead a permanent palette here, I believe! How very mind boggling brands are ! 😛
Karen says
Weird! I guess the palettes appeal to different markets. Do you like the shadows from the green quad? They look pretty creamy.

you look very pretty and fresh with those greens in your eyes, Karen. and I agree with the matchy-matchy thing. I also love to match, so whoever said it’s not supposed to be so, is out of his or her mind. haha!

I thought of “V for Vendetta” when I read the title. Did you ever see that movie?
I want to try out some Lancome shadows, but I can’t deal with the fallout in this palette. I think I’ll replicate this look using Stars Makeup Haven Charisma, and NARS Night Porter. 🙂

This is soooo beautiful on you, especially with the shirt you’re wearing! I don’t feel like I can pull of green eyeshadow very well but, wow, you look incredible! You’ve inspired me to try green again!

Yeah I don’t know who came up with that rule about matching being un-cool, but I’m totally breaking it too! Personally I love matching my polish to my necklace, or my lippie to my shoes, or whatever else I can get to match! And I really really love that fresh mint eyeshadow on you, really brightens up your face!

I love how this looks on you, but I’m lazy so I generally stay away from eyeshadows with a lot of fallout.
I don’t know why matchy-matchy is a no-no either. I’ve worn gold and purple on my eyes when the two colors are there on my dress. I think it’s pretty fly lol

This has a very sea-foam-green feel to me, which is definitely cheerful and pretty. Like you, I think the liner is a great color and hope they consider doing it in pencil form. The fallout from this palette sounds awful, though.
I’ve never watched the Voice but I do have a soft spot for H&O’s You Make My Dreams Come True (ooo, ooo). 🙂

LOL @ CeeLo being pervy … funny! 😀
Katrina says
I like to match too. I don’t care if I look color coordinated! It does indeed take more effort to look like I didn’t try that hard, lol!
These are very pretty colors, but I doubt they’d look good on me :/

CeeLo is a perv, but for some reason I still find him so dang smooth! And have you seen his cat?!? Lol, love the Voice.
Karen says
Is that REALLY his cat? I get the feeling it’s a prop cat, LOL!

I love the colors in this palette, so pretty and spring like.
