Unsung Makeup Heroes: NARS Deep Throat Blush

Even better than NARS Orgasm

What’s an unsung makeup hero? For me, it’s an oftentimes underrated makeup morsel, a permanent collection product that scoots under the radar screen of many makeup lovers but regularly rocks my world. The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorites.

I realize that NARS Orgasm is widely believed to be the true tour de force of the NARS blush multiverse, and for sure, I totally get why so many people love it…but NARS Deep Throat to me is a far better peachy pink option. Hands down.

Like Orgasm, it looks incredible on a wiiiide range of skin tones, but it lacks Orgasm’s intensely golden pearl, which in this case is a good thing, particularly if you have pores — like I do.

I actually like that I can’t see Deep Throat’s golden shimmer unless I’m way up in a magnifying mirror. Most of the time, all you see is the lovely color.

Effect-wise, it’s just enough. It doesn’t go overboard. Plus, it’s easy to apply, looks just as natural on bare skin as it looks on top of full-coverage foundation, and you can dress it up or dress it down.

I think it’s an ideal summer blush, and P.S., if you love MAC Springsheen, I think you’ll love this, too.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m always surprised at how Orgasm is the most popular with all that shimmer! I love a bit of shine in my blush, but Orgasm is a lotta shimmer.

I used to love Orgasm blush. My sister-in-law and her mother wore it too. We all looked great in it despite widely varying hair and skin tones. But I work in an office and have to wear suits. I began to notice that my clothes shimmered from my hands touching my face and then touching my clothes. My suits looked like I was a glitterball. And so I switched to Deep Throat and the disco suit problem went away. I also think Deep Throat has better staying power; it’s still on in full after a 10+ hour day for me whereas Orgasm would fade some.

Not a fan of Orgasm blush, it looks terrible on me ! Never tried Deep Throat. I have 3 of the Becca Glow Gloss, Tigerlilly, Foxglove and Sanpdragon. All 3 are beautiful, just wish they wore better. Literally could reapply every 10 minutes , ugh .

I’ve always loved the color of Orgasm in the pan but detested the chunky glitter, so I’ll have to check out Deep Throat! For some reason I’d always assumed it actually had more shimmer than Orgasm. Now I wish I’d swatched it today at Ulta before I used my 20% coupon!

I was never a big fan of Orgasm blush, way too much shimmer for me. I purchased Deep Throat last year and did like it. I still have it in my collection , but haven’t used it in quite some time. i have been doing the “lipstick as cream blush” look lately. I did hit pan awhile ago and have been meaning to get a new one. Thanks for featuring it.

Deep Throat is my favourite too! I like it way more than Orgasm, glad to know I’m not the only one.

Honestly hands down, this is probably my favorite blush I’ve ever used (and I’ve tried a lot). Not sure how it works on deeper skintones, but for those of us more-pale-than-pale girls, it’s an absolute holy grail!
