Nails Are Taking a Bright Turn at Urban Decay With the Urban Decay Summer 2012 Nail Kit

April 10th, 2012 by Karen 25 Comments

Urban decay summer 2012 nail kit box

Just a quick hi and some swatches of the Urban Decay summer 2012 nail kit to hopefully brighten your Tuesday.

It’s raining here today, and the forecast calls for more rain this week, so brightness is certainly something I’m hungry for.

I’m wearing two coats in each of the swatches below. Still not sure about pricing, but I’m assuming the kit will cost about as much as last year’s, probably around $28.

It doesn’t look like these are available online yet, but I’ve got my eyes peeled.

As for wear time, I haven’t thoroughly run these colors through their paces, but for what it’s worth, the last time I wore a UD nail polish, the gorgeous Xanadu (from last year’s Rollergirl kit), my manicure started chipping within a couple days.

To be safe, you may want to treat your paws with extra care.

Speaking of paws

I thoroughly lurved this story on old-time cat photos by English photographer Harry Pointer (1822-1889). I think one can safely conclude that homeboy was a CCD (crazy cat dude).

Tabs would like to posthumously commend Mr. Pointer for the prominent role that tabby cats seem to have played in his work. 🙂

In other news, happy Tuesday! I’m just about to sit down with a cup of tea and my journal to do a few minutes of list writing (“Things I’m grateful for…”).

I hope your morning has gotten off to a good start.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Do let me know how these compare to OPI and China Glaze. They look lovely but if they chip so fast it wouldn’t be worth it for me.

This looks like it has a similar feel to the Sonia Kashuk set you reviewed recently. All of those pretty brights!

That’s what I was thinking too! I haven’t been able to track down the Sonia set at Target, but I do work at Macy’s and we usually get the UD nail polishes… DROOL.

Ooo Showboat and Perversion are my favs! I like Fishnet too, but it looks a lot like “Secret Story” from Essie, which I’ve been wearing ever since the weather warmed up.

Oh no, it only hangs on for a couple of days? No good!

The kitty photos, on the er hand, are SUPERB! So nice to know cat obsession is age-old and universal :p

LOVE Covet! Woodstock and Showboat are gorgeous too (though more dupable in my collection). I definitely need to check these out now–I tend not to worry too much about wear-time these days since I have my trusty seche-vite 🙂

I usually wear baby pink nail polish or french tips because it’s easier to match my clothes with and I’m not too crazy about bright colors, but Covet looks SOOOOO pretty.

Super fun colors and the best part is that you can actually finish the smaller size bottle before it gets all gloopy
