What Are Your Favorite Pigmented Lip Glosses?

May 31st, 2009 by Karen 37 Comments

Highly pigmented lip glosses

Can I ask you to recommend some lip glosses which have good color payoff? My natural lips are kinda plummy-pink…

Cheers,
Kewal

Hiya Kewal,

I love lip gloss more than Spencer Pratt loves his creepy, fleshy beard!

Here are some of my favorite pigmented lip glosses, in no particular order.

  • NARS Lip Gloss ($24): These are semi-sticky with a medium weight; they’re also taste- and fragrance-free. The one I can’t get enough of is called Belize, a shimmery, pinkish mauve with golden pearl.
  • MAC Lipglass ($14): Or, if you prefer a thicker gloss, check out MAC’s Lipglasses. They come in tons of colors! My favorites — Lychee Luxe (a shimmery, reddish coral), Nymphette (a shimmery, pinkish gold) and Spite (a creamy, plummy brown).
  • Chanel Celestial Lights Glossimers ($27): If you’re looking for a little more bling than either the NARS or MAC glosses pack, splurge for one of the ultra-pigmented, uber-sparkly Chanel Celestial Lights Glossimers. I really heart Venus, a sparkly hot pink.

Do you have any other pigmented lip gloss suggestions for Kewal?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

i think this should be clarins colour quench lip balm for me. especially its colour #4. these are called lip balm but they are so intensely coloured! you ought to try them out as you wear clarins colours so well. 🙂

I love nars, mac and chanel. I love the chanel glossimer in hibiscus and myriade. My fave Nars glosses are stella, bad education and misbehave. As for mac, there is magnetique, cult of cherry, shock-o-late and style warrior. I have tons more faves by mac, but those are the ones I’m obsessed with now. Also, too faced smurf lip gloss is amazing! It starts of blue and shimmery and within minutes it’s hot pink! and the smell is amazing.

What about thinner glosses? I hate when my lips and hair get all sticky.

If you want a good drugstore lipgloss, L’Oreal’s Infallible lipgloss in Fiery is a good reddish/pink/with a hint of gold in it! Also Dulce De Leche by Infallible is also a good bronzey neutral.

I have been loving Bare Escentuals new Natural Lip Glosses. They are almost like a lip polish. AND I love the feel, smell, and taste of them. They have a good array of colors.

Great pigmented glosses are Merle Norman luxiva vinyl lipcolor, Nars lip lacquer, Guerlian lip laque, Lancome la laque gloss, Estee Lauder pure color glosses, Revlon mineral lip glazes, Chanel glossimers.

How about the new Estee Lauder Pure Color Lip Gloss Stick? It is a lipstick but with characteristic of a lip gloss and they have a whole range of colors from sheer to deeply-pigmented. OK, I like Estee Lauder a lot, that’s why I’m giving this recommendation. 😉

Out of all the Celestial Lights Glossimers, Cosmos is really pigmented! I love it!

I’ve also heard good, opaque things about Guerlain’s new Terracotta Gloss Cashmere!

I’ve had some success with L’Oreal HIP Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss… it’s not exactly a formulation for everyone (ie. very sticky, with a vanilla-chocolate scent) but I’ve never seen anything outside of the department store that had so much color payoff.

And as for drugstore/ boutique glosses, am totally seconding the recs for MAC and Nars, with honorary mentions for Bobbi Brown, Tarte (the double-ended ones), and Dior.

Well I’m not all that into glosses but I love Chanel’s Candy Glow (Aqualumiere glosses I think), and I adore the color of Mac’s Power supply on me but it’s cooling effects literally hurt my lips and cause me allergies so I don’t use it as often as I’d like;(

I also got this nude color of YSL Gloss Repulpant and it’s amazing, smells of mint but doesn’t hurt my lips, and feels like a balm!

I dislike using glosses because you have to reapply them all the time and it’s just not that practical so I stick with lipsticks or just balm (but they always look so cute in the store so i keep buying them anyway…)

i’m not really into high-end glosses since im more into drugstore ones.. here are my faves: 😀
    * L’Oreal HIP Brilliant glosses
    * Revlon Brush-On Lip Shine (these are LE so you’ll find them in eBay) and their mineral lip glosses
    * Bloom Lip Glosses (not really drugstore but a great Australian brand! :D)
and finally, my mom’s Dior and Estee Lauder glosses! 😀

I remember the Bloom brand — it used to be readily available here in the US a few years back, but now not so much. Thanks for a trip down memory lane!

my absolute favorite pigmented gloss is Chanel Glossimer in hibiscus

its the most perfect burnt burgundy just slightly blackened with awesome gold fleck!

it can be applied thin for a sheer coat and a little thicker for more opaqueness

i am also in love with the new celestial lights collection i have already managed to collect a couple of them!

le laque fever glosses by lancome are also super pigmented – i love the color payoff of SPOT PINK a beautiful deep pink with a plum punch with super fine glitter – they stay on so long you actually have to take it off after a few hours and reapply cause for me it gets a little goopy on the inner lip ( could be i just put too much on though!)

    Hi, Kewal–

Probably not the color you want (very frosted pink :D) but Chanel glossimer in Brilliance is very pigmented.

Some of the Shu Uemura red and pink glosses are quite pigmented like RD165N (red) and PR059N (purple).

I like the Dior lip glosses plus the Dior Addict High Shine lipsticks which are in lipstick form but still shiny 🙂 Your hair doesn’t stick to your lips with this either.

i have to go with buxom glosses from bare escentuals and NARS the two brands that do not dry my lips out oh and also Chanel glossimers, ironically! however, if you do try the buxom glosses the sheer colors are better than the full coverage – those tend to be a bit too thick.

I’ve tried those in the past. Do you get much plumping action from them? I didn’t really notice a difference.

    Hi Karen and Kewal! 🙂

The last HIP Brilliant Shine gloss I purchased has since been discontinued (#718, Gallant – a dark vampy plum) but I’ve also liked Coy (on the bronzy side) and Inviting (on the rosier side). I’ve also been impressed with the HIP Jelly Balms, too, but those are sheerer and don’t have SPF.

The ones I haven’t tried from the HIP line are the Color Presso 2-in-1 glosses (not crazy about the packaging, to be quite honest) and the Liquid Lip Color, which definitely sounds like something with more pigment.

    Hope this helps!
