Today, on the MAC Greatest Brown Crease Color Hits Tour (Geez, that would be a very specific tour, wouldn’t it?! Hahaha! Never mind me as I crack myself up in the corner.), we visit MAC Texture Eye Shadow.
Ooh, Texture! We’ve talked about/drooled over several of my all-time favorite MAC brown crease colors over the last couple weeks, like Swiss Chocolate and Saddle.
Yum!
And I couldn’t forget about Texture. 🙂
It’s also a peachy brown, but it’s lighter and less orange than Saddle and darker than Soft Brown, and if you really, really wanted to get technical, you could do Soft Brown as your first crease color, then Texture as your second color, and then Saddle as your third.
But that’s only if you’re in the mood to complicate things and carefully do all of the steps in your gradients.
What’s an unsung makeup hero? For me, it’s an oftentimes underrated makeup morsel, a permanent collection product that scoots under the radar screen of many makeup lovers but regularly rocks my world. The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorites.
Texture isn’t only for peeps who want to spend two hours on their eye makeup, though. In fact, if you can’t blend for sh*t and just want something easy, you need Texture in your life as a crease color/transition shade, because although it usually looks matte, it’s technically a shimmer and has these tiny flecks of micro-glitter in the pan. Most of the time, those flecks are imperceptible, but they help to make Texture very easy to blend.
For some reason, shimmers are always, always easier to blend than mattes (I’m guessing that it has to do with how the shiny bits glide across the surface), so if you’ve tried mattes in your crease but always seem to end up with choppy transitions, no matter what you do, Texture is the cure for your blending ills.
And don’t even get me started on all of the MAC colors it goes with because we’d be here till next year. But for starters, you can pair it with Soft Brown, Saddle, Swiss Chocolate, Mulch, Sable, Bronze, Honey Lust, Twinks, Trax, All That Glitters, Teddy, Costa Riche…
It’s great for beginners who want a single, sweet, easy-to-wear brown that goes with almost everything, and also for people who are diving deep into eye makeup and looking for ways to up their gradient game. I think it’s a MAC must for everyone.
The pan in my collection now is a refill, which sells for $6, but a pan with the black MAC packaging and a flip top goes for $18 in the permanent line.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love your MAC unsung heroe’s series! And I love that you feature MAC. I know I can come here to get my MAC fix. It was the makeup of my dreams when I was a young women growing up in the 80’s. I never felt cool enough to wear it then, but now, with your series and awesome tutorials, it is what I like to wear the most! Thanks Karen!!!

Texture and All That Glitters were my first two MAC shadows. It pulls much more orange on me, but I love it. I still pull those two out (along with Wedge) for an easy to blend, quick, pulled-together look. I love this series. It’s always so much fun to peek into someone else’s tried and true makeup collection!

MAC really does make the best browns, hands (paws) down. I thought I was being silly for the longest time, thinking that there must be something greener on the other side. I now realize that I should have been thanking the eyeshadow gods 🙂 My favorite MAC brown crease color of the moment is Coquette, which is a lovely khaki cement!

I will have to give Texture some more love. I go in waves. Sometimes I’m obsessed with Texture and cannot put it down. Other times it’s Soba or Cork or Brownscript. Depends on how light or smoky or rich I want to g0. Texture looks so beautiful on your skintone! And I agree MAC makes the best browns. It’s all I ever wear to ground or build a look. So many good work horse browns to choose!
