MAC Love That Look: The Eyes Have It

July 17th, 2009 by Karen 38 Comments

mac love that look

“Smile with your eyes,” as Tyra might say. 🙂 MAC must have had the same idea, because this month’s Love That Look collection is all about the eyes.

Love That Look brings 12 limited edition Starflash Eye Shadows ($14.50) and four Pearlglide Eye Liners ($14.50) to counters July 30, introducing a few new shades and re-promoting some previously released colors as well.

Nice to see you again

With their pearlescent finish (opalescent + pearl) the Starflash Eye Shadows have been driving me and many of my fellow MAC fans a little nuts since they first arrived last summer.

They join the four Pearl Glide Eye Liners — Black Russian, Rave, Molasses and Fly-By-Blue — which debuted last fall as part of the Suite Array collection.

The Pearl Glide pencils apply soft and creamy, showing off a shimmery finish, and if you missed any of them the first time around, MAC is giving us another chance.

Sneak peak: Fashion Groupie and Ego

I haven’t seen the entire Love That Look collection yet, but I have gotten up close and personal with two of the 12 Starflash Eye Shadow shades.

Swatches from left to right: Fashion Groupie, Ego

Fashion Groupie’s a frosty, light blue-violet; Ego applies as a frosty, light yellowish pink.

Both shadows feel finely milled to me — almost creamy to the touch — and have that trademark Starflash finish.

Looks like the eyes have it. 🙂 I can’t wait to see more.

Friday, score!

What are you up this afternoon? Any plans for the weekend? I have an appointment to attend one of those free Chanel Master classes at a Macy’s nearby, but that’s about it. I hope we’re able to play with the fall Venice collection, WHEE!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Happy Friday, Karen! I can’t wait to see the rest of the eyeshadows in this collection!

This afternoon I did some damage at MAC; I got the 131 brush and cheeky bronze and smooth merge MSFs. I wanted fab-dabulous and triple fusion as well, but I resisted! I think my husband would faint if he knew I spent $40 on a makeup brush…

I don’t have much going on this weekend – my main goals are to see harry potter and play with my new 131!

      Hi Tiffany,

The 131 is worth every penny. I’ve been using it practically every day and love it!

Have you had a chance to play with it yet?

Eeek… Triple Fusion is calling my name, too!

I like how they look in the pots. They look more matte there. When swatched they look pretty frosty and that is not mah thing. Like the peach looks just like a frosty ballet pink on the skin.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
