MAC Doubledazzle Dazzleglass: Swatches and First Impressions

Hey, hey, MAC fans. Take a minute (I won’t tell your boss) to peep some pics of the Dazzleglass lipglosses from the Double Dazzle collection.

It features 18 shades of MAC’s most glittery lipgloss, Dazzleglass ($18 each). If you’re all about blinged-out lips like I am, something is bound to catch your eye.

MAC included a couple of re-promoted colors from last May’s Dazzle Glass release (here’s a complete listing of last year’s colors) along with some new shades.

My nearby MAC counter only had 13 of the 18 colors, but I took swatches of the ones they had on hand.

What do you think of these? Glitter much?

Two shades that stood out right away for me were Extra Amps and Utterly Posh.

Utterly Posh (a shimmery golden coral) applies very warm on my lips and reminds me of one my favorite MAC Lipgloss shades, Lychee Luxe…

After trying it on, I was a little disappointed with Extra Amps. It looked vibrant in the tube and from the swatch but applied a little too sheer for my liking.

When it comes to glittery glosses, I’m more of a Chanel Glossimer kind of girl, but Dazzleglass does have some good things going for it — like the texture of the glitter. It isn’t gritty, and the colors sparkle like nobody’s business.

Apart from Utterly Posh, the shades I’ve seen so far are just okay. Still, I’m going to wait to reserve judgment until I see the rest of the Dazzleglass colors. Who knows? Maybe those colors will floor me.

What do you think of the Dazzleglasses? Are you a fan, or is the glitter too bling-bling for your taste?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Citrine,

I’m with ya on the lilac gloss train. I can’t seem to get enough of purple glosses and lipsticks. Who knew they’d actually be wearable?

      Hi MissE,

They are fun and are worth a look! 🙂 If you live by a Nordie’s they should be available.

The only Dazzleglasses I have are Sugarrimmed (for adding extra bling to non-sparkle glosses on occasion) and Comet Blue (so awesomely unique!). I like them, but I do prefer the Glossimer dazzle for the most part and I’m saving my pennies for Celestial Lights! 🙂

Utterly Posh looks so pretty on you! I’m not a huge glitter fan though, even if it’s not too gritty. Looks like I really need to check out Lychee Luxe though.

Glitter’s okay for me when it’s on the eyes (like glitter eyeliner), but not on the lips – makes me feel childish when I wear glitter on that part of my face.

I would love so much to be able to wear them, but they dry up on my lips so fast that I have disco-lips!

I do like them, but I have very full lips & sometimes that amount of glitter is too much & I feel like I have a disco ball on my face. I have Date Night & Rags to Riches from last year…when I was wearing Rags to Riches my boyfriend commented that perhaps, my lips were a bit too glittery! LOL the particular things men notice…

      Hi Wenvers,

I’m kinda lusty over Goldyrocks now, too. I’m thinking it would look really pretty on top of a red lipstick!

I love Dazzleglasses because I can use them to change up a lipgloss I already have. I love mixing Love Nectar with Comet Blue – it’s my favorite combo! I can’t wait to see these and try them out!

      Hi Okami,

Oh, interesting! I didn’t think to mix ’em with any members of my current lipgloss stash! Will have to do some experimenting this weekend. 🙂

Wow, for some reason I was a little behind in the makeup world and totally forgot about this release! LOL, now I’m super excited! Although in my blank state of mind, are these only available at Nordstrom’s, or at MAC too? Yeah, for some reason I thought this wasn’t out till the 30th… ^.^’

      Hi Leanne,

Yeah, it was originally scheduled for the 30th and then the date got moved up. As far as I know it should be available at MAC, too…

While i like glitter, this may be too much for me. Although Girl’s Delight looks like it’d be fabulous over a nude lip, ill have to check these out up close and personal

Got to swatch Funtabulous which I am guessing your MAC did not have yet but hopefully will soon. It was so incredible you have no idea. With flecks of purplish-pinkish-bluish glitter it will probably be one of the ones that could stand out the most on its own from this collection. As with all the dazzleglasses, color pay off is not going to be huge as the focus is on the shine & shimmer, but layered over a lipstick & KAPOW…Danga!! I see Funtabulous layered over a color like Snow Orchid or Girl About Town for a fun & flirty color!

Too little girl-y for me, I think. Utterly Posh looks very pretty and not too glittery but the Extra Amps photo, hmmm, I could see the sparkles individually and that didn’t do much for me.

I’ll still have a peek, but I’m a creamy bright matte lips work that French look kind-a-girl.

Thanks for the review, as always.

The artist at the MAC counter yesterday rocked Snow Orchid w/ Comet Blue dazzleglass & it was dynamic. Nothing little girly or bling-blingy about it. Funtabulous makes me think a little of Comet Blue so that’s where I got the idea from. I think if it’s done right it can be beautiful. A lot of the palettes for spring show neutral shimmer eyes with bright pink lips. Think it can be fun if you’re the adventurous type. 🙂

    Hi!

I think I’d get at least Love Alert and Date Night because I wanted the first one for Christmas and I couldn’t get it and I love Date Night!!!

    Thanx!

Love Alert is HOT! Love it! Date Night is a personal fav, but Love Alert is soon to take over that position. I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on Utterly Posh since it is LE and all (plus it’s totally gorge). Like Venus is also on le list, because it’s really versatile for me, but that’s really it, although they’re all very pretty.
