Well, this was a first.
I can say with 100% certainly that I’ve never been as excited about reusable shopping bags as I was on Christmas Day when I opened those sets of Trader Joe’s Mystery Bags.
I was hoping for bags from remote locales (remote to me, like Anchorage and Key West), so I gnashed my teeth when I saw this one from another town in Northern California…
[SIGH] There’s a donkey on it saying, “Eureka!” though, which kinda makes up for it.
My favorite is this one from Louisiana, which has seafood nestled in what appears to be a tuba on one side of the bag, and aromatics (onion, pepper and celery) on the other.
Weird, but I like it!
This blue hen on the Delaware bag makes me wish I was dual-CCL (a crazy cat & chicken lady).
Oh, and I love the regal red and purple on the New Hampshire bag, too. The purple flower is a lilac, right?
Last, but not least, these two lovebirds on the Virginia bag look like they’re whispering sweet nothings to each other about TJ’s Sliced Brioche (my favorite thing to have for breakfast these days).
Each of the mystery packs comes with three different shopping bags, and I got this one from Virginia twice. What are the odds?!
Overall, cool! This is such a fun gift. Way to go, Trader Joe!
Do you happen to hail from one of these places? 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF.
Wow, Karen, those bags are way cool! I am a good 45 minutes from Trader Joes, but next year I will make sure to get over there and get a mystery bag. Now I am mad that I did not do it this year! And yes, that looks like lilac to me, too. TGIF Indeed!
I’m going to get them next year, too. 🙂 Happy Friday!
Looks like a lilac to me as well. I have some in my backyard and they only bloom for like one week but they are so pretty and smell soooo good. My favorite smelling flower I think.
I really need to smell one. They’re not common here in California!
Happy Friday, Rachel!
The onion, celery, and bell pepper are known as the “Holy Trinity” of Louisiana cooking. It’s the start of every good gumbo, étouffée, and many other Cajun dishes.
Oh wow, thanks Ash! That’s my fun fact for the day. 🙂
Happy Friday!
Yep, that’s a lilac. I have one growing in my yard and I want like a bajillion more. It’s one of the first shrubs to bloom in Maine every spring after the forsythia. Smells like HEAVEN!
I cut a bunch and put them in vases all over the house. I also have a couple secret roadside lilacs that belong to no one that I harvest from!
I’ve never seen or smelled one in real life! I wish I could visit you!
Yup, that’s a lilac. Wish they bloomed better in CA. I don’t think it gets cold enough over the winter for the blooms to set here. I went into TJ’s to purchase a poinsettia before Christmas and was going to pick up a mystery bag of bags. But then I remembered the handles on the TJ’s bag are too short for my liking. Since I walk everywhere I like to sling my grocery bags over my shoulders and with a rain jacket on the TJ’s handles are just too short. You got some cool bags there.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen or smelled a lilac in real life, now that I think about it.
Did you see the long garlands at TJ’s? I grabbed a couple for my door. They’re super pretty and last for a while.
Happy Friday!
Lilacs smell divine. We had two lilacs in our yard when I was growing up in MI. We had a white one and a purple/blue one with double petals. I used to love when they bloomed in the spring. I’ve seen lilac cuttings in the florist shops down this way in the spring but they’re usually pretty darn expensive.
I saw the garlands, but I can’t deal with plants that dry out, so I don’t bother anymore. I did snag a pink and a red potted poinsettia. They were less expensive than the offerings anywhere else.
Oooo, those are cool bags. Mine were from Rhode Island, which had a lighthouse(!!!) and a sailboat, and Minnesota, which had what I think is a hiking boot. The other one was a celebration of TJ’s most popular item of 2018- orange chicken. So cute. And they were randomly giving out local bags to people who bought mystery bags, so I got a Florida one, too.
Oh how cool! I would’ve loved the Rhode Island one.
And that’s kind of funny that orange chicken was the most popular item. 🙂
Happy Friday, Suzanne!
I love Trader Joe’s! These bags are so pretty!
