Product Spotlight: Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balms

May 12th, 2020 by Karen 15 Comments

honest beauty tinted balm
Moisturizing and vibrant lip balms by Honest Beauty, each an affordable $8.99, hooray!

I just found your latest lip addiction, a.k.a. my latest lip addiction! — but you’re not going to get addicted in a bad way, I promise.

You know how some tinted lip balms hook you into a vicious cycle of lip balm-ing yourself every 10 minutes? Not gonna happen with the Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balms, because unlike other tinted lip balms, they don’t suck every molecule of moisture from your lips and lead you to reapply them over and over…which is my main point o’ pain with most lip balms.

Small victories, ya know?

Lots of moisture

So tell your dry lips to chill already, man! You will not be looped into a dysfunctional relationship with your lip balm, and since these are practically dripping with moisture, thirsty, flaky lips will thank you for the hydrating TLC.

What they are

I love ’em. They’re like a cross between a lip balm and a creamy lipstick, so you get all the color (but not too much) and lots and lots of moisture. They’re permanent to the Honest Beauty makeup line and come in seven shades, including clear, and are an affordable $8.99 each.

The formula is cruelty-free and vegan, so no animal testing, and no animal-derived ingredients, either.

They feel like a typical balm to me — lightweight and smooth, with a non-sticky texture — and have a barely-there, fleeting honey flavor and scent. As for wear time, they last about two hours for me.

Vibrant color

These are so intense! It’s bomb. (Or, should I say, it’s balm? Sorry, I had to go there!) I have pigmented lips, so it isn’t always easy for me to find pigmented lip balms that show up on my lips, but each of these shades is so vibrant and distinct that I can immediately see the difference (no layering required!). They don’t all look the same, which I lurve and appreciate.

This is casual, low-maintenance lip color at its best. I can easily use my phone as a mirror to apply a layer… Heck, I’m doing that right now with Lychee Fruit (the beige-pink!).

Clinique dupe for half the price

Are you familiar with Clinique’s Black Honey Almost Lipstick? It’s a semi-sheer dark plum that was all the rage in the ’90s, and it looks surprisingly natural (it’s still in their permanent line). Anyway, Honest Beauty Tinted Balm in Plum Drop looks exactly like it, but for, like, half the price. Keep that in mind for your bargain hunter beauty pals!

You can find the Honest Beauty Tinted Balms at Target and online at honestbeauty.com.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love a tinted lip balm like that! Just a hint of color to make me look not washed out plus hydration. Everything I need these days! Well, probably most of us!

These look so tempting. Except that I can’t decide which color I like best, so when you end up ordering them all it’s a bit more of a cash outlay than expected. Lol.

Hahaha! I’ll keep an eye out and let you know if I ever see them go on sale. 🙂 Speaking of sale, Altheta has a good one right now. I got a couple pairs of tights for $40 each!

Thanks! Lol, I know all about every sale Athleta has because it’s my trainer’s favorite brand. They know her by name in the store. I actually organized that part of my closet and gave away some things I didn’t wear anymore. I made a big purchase during their Friends & Family event, so I think I’m good on workout wear. Trying so hard to not spend money on anything unless I absolutely need to at the moment.

Oh that’s nice of you! I’m sure whoever gets them will be so excited. A while back my HIIT teacher gave me a pair that didn’t fit her, and a friend of mine in class gave me a few pairs that she never wears, so I was stoked! I’ve slowly been phasing out all the ill-fitting workout pants that have been lingering in my closet for years and replacing them with things that actually don’t fall down my butt when I jump, ha ha ha.

Do you ever wear their sports bras? I ordered my first one because I *just* figured out that they make sizes for different cup sizes. *MIND BLOWN*

Never tried their sport bras. I loathe buying bras on-line because I usually end up returning all of the order. I’m really picky about bras. I hate foam cups, I love underwires (yeah, I know I’m in the minority here) and it has to have adjustable straps and a clasp because I have a torn shoulder and getting a sweaty bra to come off over my head just doesn’t work. So I wear one Wacoal bra and if it’s ever discontinued or redesigned, I’m screwed.
Which style of bra do you like? You said it has cup sizes? Maybe I’ll look into it.

I love all of the colors. What blush and lip colors are you wearing with them? I love that kind of monochromatic look. The blush and eyeshadow look great with the peachy, pinky, and even the plum!

    Thank you,
    Greta

These look perfect! I love avibrant lip, but don´t have time for the maintenance right now, so these balms would be perfect. Easy to reapply, but still enough color to appear on my lips.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
