I Recharged Today with a Make Up For Ever, MAC, NARS and Clarins Face of the Day

Jeez, I swear, sometimes face paint is like chicken soup for my soul.

I was chugging along just fine this afternoon until about 3 p.m., and then…afternoon slump.

I’m not sure why or what happened — it might have something to do with the chilly weather — but I just couldn’t keep my eyes open. All I wanted to do was take a nap, an activity which, by the way, Tabs wholeheartedly approved.

But instead of napping, I made myself another cup of tea and set about trying to do something new for my makeup.

After this face of the day, which I did using holiday fare from the Make Up For Ever Wild & Chic, MAC Glitter and Ice and Clarins Passion collections (with a dash from the NARS permanent line), I actually felt a whole lot better.

Here’s a breakdown of the look, which features a silvery taupe eye, apricot cheeks and reddish brown lips…

EYES
  • NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (primer)
  • Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in 04 Anthracite (lid and lower lash line)
  • Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in 15 Taupe (crease)
  • Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in 02 Steel (outer third)
  • Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in 01 Anthracite (upper lash line)
  • Clarins Instant Definition Mascara in 01 Intense Black (upper and lower lashes)
CHEEKS
  • NARS Blush in Lustre (apples)
LIPS
  • MAC Lipstick in I Love Winter and MAC Cremesheen Glass in Deelight, both from the Iced Delights Lip Bag/Sultry

Here’s to it almost being the weekend! Just a little bit further. We’re almost there. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Hope you had a good day today. Let’s talk weekends. Do you haven’t anything planned? I’m thinking about seeing that new George Clooney movie, The Descendants. The reviews look pretty good.

You look great, Karen. I’m a big fan of the Cremesheen Glass in Deelight. I always have it in my handbag as it goes with anything.

It’s the beginning of a somewhat less-gloomy Friday here. I’m attending the bf’s company christmas party as his +1. It’s going to be fun 🙂 So looking forward to it.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend Karen.

    Wow! Gorgeous look!

I can totally understand what you mean by the slump and then got perked up by playing with makeup. Even when I was ill, I still put on makeup, and Hubby laughed… But we both agreed that really helped me feel ‘better’ , even for a short while. 🙂

Just wanna add, may be it’s the positive vibes and effects of the colours on our mood and internal mechanism. After all, there is such thing as chomo therapy!

I do something similar: I suffer from severe anxiety disorder and I sometimes play with make-up at the strangest times just to calm myself down, even if I do 3 looks in a row… (my skin protests, but it does calm my mind, like putting on war paint!)

Love the look, Karen. I’ve been wanting to try to the Aqua Creams; this could be my excuse to get some! I’m not doing anything really exciting this weekend, mostly planning my first Thanksgiving by making lists and washing my china. I’m a little nervous but I think I can pull it off. Wish me luck!

Great look! I’ve always been tempted to try the MUFE aqua creams as I heard a lot of good things about them. This is somewhat random but I have that same Anthropologie mug(s) on my Christmas list! I thought it would be cute if I got a small set and they spelled out something like love. Still deciding though.

What a gorgeous look! I love the eyeshadow. This weekend I’m going to see Breaking Dawn with my sister-in-law. I know it’s not award winning cinema, but it’ll be a fun girls night out. 🙂

I like this look – it’s really bright and has a wintery feel to it. You pull it off well. For some reason, I find it really difficult to wear silvers as the predominant colour. Guess I just need to find the right shade because grey’s alright – it’s only when I try to wear the whitish and really pearly silvers.

I love how the frosty shadow on the lid makes your eyes look so bright but the darker tones in the crease keep it all grounded. Fresh and wintry!

PS. Those earrings are lovely! May I ask where you got them? 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
