Lip Look: Plum Diggity with MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics

G’morning, ladies!

I was in a plummy mood last night, so while I sat on the couch watching The Closer season finale on Tivo (sidenote: ’twas sooo good!), I played with some of the plum-diggity lip colors from the MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics collection.

This shiny golden plum lip look comes courtesy of Hold The Pose Lustre Lipstick and On Display Lipglass layered on top of Beurre Cremestick Liner.

I think she’ll look really pretty with a wash of shimmery taupe over the eyelid (Satin Taupe, maybe?) and some thick black cat eyeliner from Lorac! 🙂

What would you pair with this lip look?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I saw that that Benefit now has a new loose matte powder called Matterial Girl ($24, online only for now).

I’m a total loose powder fiend!

      Hi Michelle,

I’m dying to try that powder too. Isn’t the packaging super cute?

BTW, I have an oily forehead and MAC Blot works wonders. 🙂

That lip color looks amazing on you! I thought On Display was a bit too dark for me so I passed….but now you are making me rethink it. =)

      Hi Kajal Couture,

I originally thought the same thing, but layering it beneath a less dramatic plum seems to tone it down and make it wearable!

Love the plum! I think black liner would look prime with it. Speaking of that, is Lorac’s Front of the Line Pro better than Mac’s Penultimate liner? I thought that one was average.

      Hi Tekoa,

I tried it once a long time ago, and I remember it being just okay. This is loads better; I think the tip is much easier to manipulate.

Tht lip combo is lovely! And the overall makeup look that came to your mind sounds delicious, makeup-wize. Another cute way to wear it would be with a neutral cat eye, whatdya think?

Sheesh, Karen. Leave it to you to make me want something from their fall collection. 🙂 I was contemplating just the lipglass, but I love that combo on you. Gotta get that LORAC liner, too–I have MAC’s Penultimate, which I do like, but I’m interested to see how it is when compared with the LORAC one.

    Hey Karen,

I wouldn’t have thought about putting those 2 together. Very pretty. Sometimes, I just do a really pretty lip and some eyeliner and mascara, no shadow. I have a cream liner by mufe that stays on w/o any primer and that’s really awesome.

Thanks for your well wishes. My eyes are still sore, but the pain has lessened. If it’s not gone by the end of the week I will see a doctor. BTW, I wore my photo realism quad today and it’s so incredible I want to scoop up the other 2 that I had no interest in! I haven’t tackled the orange liner yet, though.

      Hi Shontay,

Sometimes, when I REALLY LOVE most of a collection (there’s usually at least a few things that are just okay, right?), I’ll still buy stuff that I feel so-so about just so that it feels complete. If you get those other two quads you’ll totally be set in the quad department from this release. 🙂

I love the look of a simple eye and a strong lip, too. There’s so many possibilities with liner — cat eye, smudged pencil, tightlining…

Anyway, glad to hear the eyes are feeling a little better. Got any exciting plans for this evening?
