It’s a NARS Beautiful Life, and Only You Palette Swatches

August 4th, 2010 by Karen 56 Comments

Do you suppose Francois Nars was bumping vintage Ace of Base when he named his new fall lip and cheek palette “Beautiful Life”?

It’s a beautiful life…oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

I secretly hope so, because even though the song’s hella cheesy, I also think it’s kinda awesome. 🙂

The new NARS Beautiful Life Lip and Cheek ($55) and Only You Eye and Cheek ($65) palettes for fall, available now on the NARS website, are equally spectacular (but in a totally non-cheesy way).

Each one comes with six products pulled from the NARS permanent line.

NARS switched up the packaging this time around, adding a nylon case with a snazzy zipper closure (reminiscent of Bobbi Brown Denim & Roses, yah?).

Take a look at these swatches, and let me know what you think.

NARS Only You Eye and Cheek Palette

NARS Beautiful Life Lip and Cheek Palette

NOTE: The pic doesn’t include a swatch of Sexual Healing Lipstick (a sheer, shimmery pink).

Nighty night! See you soon. 🙂

Karen

Ha, if you are new to NARS, go ahead to the eye palette. I have all these colours and they are all great basics. These are the kind of e/s you will use for any occasion and that will last … pretty long. I dare not to say a lifetime;-)
Honestly, NARS gives good pigmentation for the money, like them best with Giorgio Armani.

I think the shadows are a bit dark for me, but I really love the zip packaging!

Off topic…. the Pravana Leave-In testing has come to a close and the results are in. It looks like it’s great for all hair types. The Hubs’ hair was super-soft and it fell perfectly. I honestly said “wow, your hair looks great.. you finally got a decent cut…” then I remembered he’d been trying the conditioner. Even he said he liked it a lot and will keep using it. So, that’s a 2-thumbs-up from us. 🙂

PS I keep meaning to ask how Tabs’ garden grows. I wonder if his moodiness over the past few weeks has been catnip related!

Wow, you can actually get the boy to use a leave-in? It’s a miracle if I can get El Hub to even use soap!

Tabs’ catnip garden is coming along nicely. He’s eaten all his kitty grass (at least one of us is getting enough fiber) and his catnip plant is getting bigger by the day! I just fed him a few leaves this morning so now he’s extra lovie-dovie.

How’s your Thursday going so far?

That’s great about the garden – sounds like Tabs is loving it! 🙂

Too funny about the soap! Yes, mine is not a big groomer either, but I told him it was for you – I think he appreciates the effects of all your make-up tips! Oh, and the fact that I took his 2-in-1 shampoo out of the shower and he didn’t want to look like a dandelion gone to seed might have helped too!

So far, so good on the Thursday. It’s hella hot and muggy here though so my lunchtime walk around town was much slower than usual! I hope yours is getting off to a good start!!

He loves any excuse to be outside. I don’t think I’ll ever stop feeling guilty about taking away his kitty freedom, but at least he can enjoy his supervised visits outside with his own customized salad bar. 😀

Good for you for working it out at lunchtime! I’m saving my energy for a run tonight. I’m a little jealous that it’s hot out your way… it’s been relatively cool here (low 70s). I need some heat!!

Oh, I agree. Two of my gals bolt for the door every chance they get. Our constant refrain when we come in is “watch for the cats!”. We try to keep the windows open as much as possible so they can perch there, but I know it’s not the same.

My nightly runs have been awful. The humidity makes it really hard to breathe and I feel completely winded after a couple of minutes. We must push through though, right? 🙂 I’m sorry about your weather – I wish we could trade for a little while. It was literally 99 degrees (with about 99.9% humidity on Wed). It feels like Houston in the summer! On the upside, summers here are pretty short so it’s nice to have some heat. I will immediately stop grumbling about it!

Is it just me, or is it odd to have one of the promo models wearing eyeshadow shades that don’t exist in the eyeshadow palette? (upper right) I’d imagine that there would be a lot of people out there who would love the pop of color with the smokey eye and then be disappointed to see that it’s not in the palette being promoted. 🙁

Pretty pretty! I love that hot pink lip color like woah! I’m actually kind of liking the zip, too. Definitely makes it easier to throw it in my backpack to touch up between classes without having to worry about it snapping open and making a mess or breaking (which has unfortunately happened way too often… I’m looking at you, broken UD Deluxe palette mirror!)

That’s one of my mom’s favorite songs!!

I was excited about these but not anymore..

I have 3 of the eyeshadows from the 1st palette and I don’t like Orgasm -so no point in that. And as for the 2nd palette, I’ve owned NARS palettes with lacquers, lipsticks, and Multiples and I don’t think the quality is as good as the product Not in palette form..

I wish NARS would start making more interesting palettes. For some reason, they LOVE to put the same eyeshadows and lip colors in palette after palette. And seems like they ALWAYS put Orgasm in nearly any palette that has a blush. No girl needs 5 of the same Orgasm blush -switch it up NARS! Just because it’s a cult fave, it doesn’t mean you need to include it in every single palette.

There seems to be alot of glitter/shimmer in that eye and cheek palette, but i like the inclusion of a blush and highlighter with shadows. I wonder if this new packaging concept is gonna be an all the time thing or it’s just a one off. i know lots of people hate the rubberized NARS packaging but I actually really love it and think it’s really iconic.
