Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess: A Tropical Lip Look for Winter

February 19th, 2010 by Karen 28 Comments

I think the sky was mocking me when I took ye olde Tabby cat out for his morning promenade around the circle…

Among other things, Friday’s also garbage day!

Those ominous clouds make everything creepy. Like those two garbage cans? Hella creepy. Even my favorite tree looks a little Sleepy Hollow.

While Tabs nibbled on grass, which I guess is his idea of salad al fresco (only the freshest, dewy green shoots will do), I spotted this punchy pink flower. It would’ve been the brightest thing out there if it hadn’t been for my lipgloss. 🙂

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Lip Gloss in Wild Orchid

I can’t wait for summer, ladies, and Estee Lauder’s shimmery fuchsia Exotic Lip Gloss in Wild Orchid ($18; available now at Nordstrom) is only making things worse. I think it’s fueling my winter denial. I mean, how can it still be winter with Wild Orchid on my lips??

Big sigh…

With its hints of blue and pink, doesn’t it look like a tropical flower? I love the shade, but I also like how it feels on my lips — medium thickness, not sticky, and with a faint sugary scent and taste.

Wearing it I feel like I should be chilling on the patio at Duke’s in Waikiki watching tourists surf (LOL!) instead of sitting on cold steps in faded sweatpants while I wait for my cat to get his fiber on.

OOH! As soon as it warms up, I’m wearing Wild Orchid with a bronze eyeshadow, crisp white sundress and big gold hoop earrings.

I can’t wait! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

It’s gotten pretty cloudy here in Southern California too, raining this weekend (hello, frizzy hair!). The gloss looks awesome btw, perfect on your skin!

    Those are some intense clouds!

We’ve got some here in the city, too (I live in San Fran). It may be gloomy, but it sure makes for some beautiful “sun-shining-through-the-clouds” moments.

Oh I love the blue shimmer in it! I wish glosses with green shimmer/reflects would start catching on in addition to the blues and purples that have moved into the acceptable realm lately.

Wild Orchid lip gloss!! I remember there was a Wild Orchid lipstick from the EL Spring 2009 collection, which I have but hardly used, as the color is a but too dark for daily use, but this lip gloss looks great! Perhaps this on top of the lipstick would be a great combo? 😉

    Love the color!

Wasn’t Wild Orchid the name of the group that Fergie was in sometime between “Kids’ Incorporated” and The Black Eyed Peas?

I hope things brighten up soon on your end, Karen! Today was the first truly sunny day we’ve had in a while, up in Alberta — it’s a shame I was stuck indoors for all of it >.<

That gloss looks fabulous on you! For some reason I have a personal bias against anything pink with a blue flash (I think because it’s soooo common/overdone in the nail polish world), but I can appreciate when it looks good on somebody else. 🙂

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
